The sun was just coming up over the hillside, shining through the vineyard. Gentle hues of pink and orange kiss the skyline with the sunâs delicate glow splaying throughout the lush fields of grapevine, glistening with dew. The entire estate is a sight to see, though it is by far from the largest in the Eastern Kingdoms. Around the manor grounds is barricaded by a large stone wall, as well as tall rod iron fencing jointed together by stone, corner towers around the actual vineyards. The grounds are covered in decorative shrubs; a hedge maze jigsaws behind her home and leads to the vineyards. A large fountain decorates the front pathways, lined with benches. The day began just like the rest, however an important guest was expected. The manor was busy with workers in the fields and guards pacing their designated posts. Elizebella was in a rush as she overslept from being awake far passed midnight working on odds and ends.Â
This was a typical occurrence as she seemed to have a habit of staying up far too late. Her staff informed her of His Excellencyâs arrival as she hurried down her staircase, with the skirt of her dress gingerly gripped in her hand to avoid tripping on the hem. The door was swung open for her as she made her exit and stepped out into the hedge maze as she made her way toward her vineyards. Upon nearing the end of the maze she shaded her amber hues with her hand, shielding them from the sun and there he stood. She smiled as she waved her hand in hopes heâd take notice as she made her way towards him. Upon reaching the fence line, she stopped just a couple of foot from him and offered a polite bow of her head, âGood Morning, Alphonso. I do apologize for being a bit late, it seems I overslept.â She exhaled a quiet sigh as her rushed demeanor began shifting to a more relaxed disposition.Â
Alphonso lifted his gaze to the morning sky as he brought his gloved hand to his brow, shielding his gaze from the vibrant red and orange hues which peaked through the leaves. His lips parted as he lofted a gentle, relaxing sigh before his gaze landed on an approaching Elizebella. Immediately his lips curled into a warm, vibrant smile as he removed his hand from his forehead, waving it in the air toward her in recognition. âGood morning, Elizebella.â he replied with a gentle chuckle, quickly turning his arms to his rear as he nested them at the base of his spine. âDo not worry about being late, sweet madam.â he stated, chuckling once more. âIt gave me time to survey your vineyards and speak with your lovely staff.â he continued as his gaze swept the vineyards. âI must say, you have an absolutely breath-taking vineyard. One reminiscent of an Earl for which I was previously in service toâŚâ he said, pausing for a moment as if to correct himself. âHowever his fields were quite neglected - but the scenery was still lovely.â
Her smile brightened upon hearing his praise of her lot. She panned her eyes around a bit, before returning her gaze to meet with his own, âWell, I would take all of the credit, but as you recall my family is the one that I must give credit for the beauty that surrounds us.â She cleared her throat softly as she clasped her hands together in front of her, âI take it that your travels to my vineyards were without troubles?â Her smile was sweet and her amber hues held nothing less than an admiration as she gazed upon her love.Â
Alphonso dipped his chin in a subtle nod as he peered back up the walkways leading to the maze. âYes, however I must say I got lost once or twice within the maze.â he remarked with a light chortle. âI ended up having to ask a nearby tender to assist me in making my way through.â he continued as he lifted his hand to the back of his head, giving it an embarrassed stroke. âI never was particularly decent at mazes I could not work through on pen and paperâŚâ he said, pausing for a moment. âNonetheless, I apologize if the date was scheduled too early for you, I can return at another time, should you like?â
Elizebella let her gaze fall to the verdant grass that hugged the gravel pathway that bordered the fence line and chuckled every so quietly, âYes, I forget that not everyone has traveled the maze since theyâve been able to stand on two feet, such as I have; apologies. I had originally set for you to be met at the gates by a member of my staff, but I am at least relieved that there was enough coordination among the others that led you to this spot.â She slowly lifted her amber hues to meet with his features once again. Her amber hues seemed to nearly have a fiery glow about them when she held her head at certain angles within the sunlight. Her features softened and a smile to match curled on her lips as she gave a gentle shake of her head, âOf course not, Alphonso. Iâve looked forward to you visiting since settling on the day.â She exhaled a soft, melodious sigh of happiness, âWhat I mean is that it is good to be in your company where there will be little to no interruptions in our conversation.â
Alphonso once more gave a curt nod in agreement as his lips birthed a wide smile. âYes, it shall be quite pleasant indeed.â he replied as he turned to his left, walking a few paces toward the nearby fence-post. âHow many kegs of wine do you produce yearly?â he asked as he removed his arms from his rear, turning them over to the railing as he gently wrapped his grip around it. âSurely, with a yard this large, you must produce an extremely large quantity, no?â he asked, allowing his gaze to linger for a moment before returning his attention to Elizebella.
Elizebella glanced far over her estate toward what seemed to be endless rows of vines and the acres that supported them. She hummed in thought, âWell Iâve ten acres of vineyards and each acre produces between six and eight tons of grapes per annual harvest. One ton of grapes typically produces about sixty gallons of wine, give or take. As far as casks, each ton produces about twenty.â She canted her head in thought as she crunched the numbers, âOur numbers have increased substantially over the last four years due to expanding the fields to stretch out to the limits of the property that is owned.â She sighed quietly, âI would have to say this year we should be able to produce around two thousand casks, though half of those will be placed into bottles⌠and the number of bottles is quite large.â
Alphonso perked his brow in astonishment as he followed her gaze across the vineyards. âI must say, madam, that is really⌠quite amazing.â he replied with a soft chuckle as he inhaled deeply, allowing the sweet aroma of the grapes fills his lungs. He remained silent for a few moments before returning his attention to her. âWell, let us hope with this new portion of land in Redridge you shall be able to further expand your quantity.â he continued as he removed his grasp from the fencing. âHave you yet chosen a placement for said vineyard?â he asked as he returned his arms to his rear, resting them over one-another at the crook of his spine.
Elizebella smiled to his response as she returned her gaze to meet with his own. She let her hands fall to her sides, bobbing her head gingerly in agreement, âIt is, however as the demand grows, so does the need for more grapes and it seems I cannot act quickly enough on the new plot in which to setup vines.â She sighed softly, âI truly need to make arrangements to investigate about properties available in Redridge. However, I am not very well versed in the area of buying land; perhaps you might know how I might go about it?â She cleared her throat quietly, âI donât believe my father intended or expected the demands for our vintage to ever outgrow our acreage and Iâm afraid he left me with little advice as to what to do in regards to land purchasing."Â
Alphonso lightly tapped his fingers against the back of his hand in quiet contemplation as he pondered the matter. "Iâll speak with the mayor of Lakeshire come soon to see if he knows of any plots available in the region.â he replied with a gentle sigh "Howeverââ he interjected, pausing for a moment as he turned to face her. "I suppose we can discuss business laterâŚâ he continued, once more lofting a soft chuckle. âIt is the first time we are actually able to share in one-anotherâs company away from prying eyes.â he stated. âPerhaps we could use this time to learn more about one-another?â
Elizebella gently nodded her head with her burgundy curls gently dancing about her shoulders, âI would greatly appreciate any help that you may offer no matter how great or small.â Her cheeks highlight with a bit of blush to his suggestion and she brings her hands to claps in front of her once again with a gentle smile decorating her lips, âI would quite enjoy getting to learn more about you over speaking about business any day, dearest Alphonso.â She inhaled a deep breath with a soft exhale to follow, "I cannot express how curious I have grown to know details as to who you are and what has molded you into the man that stands before me.âÂ
Alphonso smiled warmly as he stepped closer to her, removing an arm from his back as he gently held it aloft, as if to request she take it. "I, too, would far more enjoy learning more about what has shaped this fair maid which stands before me.â he replied smiled warmly as he stepped closer to her, removing an arm from his back as he gently held it aloft, as if to request she take it. âI, too, would far more enjoy learning more about what has shaped this fair maid which stands before me.â he replied, pausing for a moment. âBut please, my sweetââ he continued âShould you ponder into my person, do not hesitate to inquire!â
The pink hue that kissed her cheeks deepened into a full blush to his words. Her amber hues briefly averted from his own toward his extended hand in which she took with both of hers. Her eyes panned back to his own as she slowly brought his hand to press against her cheek which emitted elevated heat due to the flushing of her skin. She arranged his hand to caress against her cheek, keeping one hand held against his own, âMy lips have met with yours and I scarcely know enough about you to even know the favorite foods that you frequently allow to pass through them.â She stared into his eyes with a gentle curiosity shining within her own, âThere is far more that I wish to know, however⌠I would be satisfied with even the smallest detail in this moment.â She exhaled a soft breath, âIt is nice to have a moment to ourselves for once.â
Alphonso gently caressed her cheek with the breadth of his palm as his thumb lightly swept across her lips - a warm desire filling his gaze as he reminisced of their previous scants. âYes, it seems in all the rush of the city, we too have gotten quite far ahead of ourselvesâŚâ he remarked. âSharing intimacy without knowing much about one anotherââ he continued. âYour favourite wines and foods, the month of your birthââ he said, each word coming out gingerly as he lifted his opposing arm to her crown, brushing a small, ginger lock from her visage. âYour dreams and aspirations - colours and places⌠I want to know everything.â
A quieted shuttering breath escapes her lips from the way he looked into her eyes. She squeezed with gentle pressure against his hand that held her cheek as he spoke. His words were music to her ears and the readhead couldnât resist the urge to smile, "It warms my heart to know that you wish to learn all of this about me, as I wish to know all there is to know about you.â She exhaled a soft laugh and brought the gloved hand to her lips to place a gentle kiss upon it and allowing him to let it fall away if he so chose to, âMy favorite wine is one of my own creations over the last couple of years that I call Pretty in Pink. I named it after a childhood memory that I hold dear.â She released his hand only to take his other with her opposing hand, lacing their fingers together, âI adore seafood, especially lobster and shrimp.â She chuckled quietly, âI have to be careful not to over indulge on those two foods, as it find it all to easy to doâŚ.and I was born in the month of August.-â She gave a gentle squeeze of his hand, âNow, itâs your turn⌠Iâll save my dreams and aspirations to share over a cup of tea on the veranda, if you might wish to join me for such in a moment?â
(Here, the two have moved to her manorâs porch - we didnât actually RP that out as we had to fly to another zone for a suitable location)
Alphonso slowly lowered himself into a seated position next to Elizebella as he lifted the small cup to his lips, imbibing a small sip of the earthy liquid. âI suppose it would be my turn to share, no?â he remarked as he placed the cup back on the saucer with a "My favourite food would, oddly enough, have to be errâŚâ he paused for a moment as he cleared his throat - clearly his food of choice was a rather embarrassing one. "Sauteed lizard as well as turtle soup.â he remarked, lofting an awkward  "As for when I was born - I am not entirely sure. The aspect of time in Outland is vastly different from Azeroth, as thereâs no true way to determine how long has passedâŚâ he continued. "However, were I to hazard a guess, I would say November. The planets and stars do not traverse the skies there as they do here.â
Elizebella scrunched her nose slightly to the thought of eating reptiles, but couldnât help but chuckle, âThose are quite interesting choices for food, I must say. If anyone other than you had told me that eating reptiles was tasty, Iâd not believe them.â She brought her cup to her lips, taking a small sip of tea and then rested it back into the saucer that she held in her other hand. She cleared her throat lightly, âI can say that you might possibly be the only person Iâve met from Outland? Though, itâs entirely possible I was just unaware as I do not regularly ask as to where someone comes from.â She exhaled a quiet sigh, âHowever, it does sound far more interesting that being born in Elwynn, to say the least.â
Alphonso cleared his throat as he reminisced upon his childhood, giving an absent nod as if to just continue with the subject. âYes⌠interesting would be a suitable explanationâŚâ he replied as he remained silent for a few moments longer before snapping back to reality. âAnd yes, there were not any children I can recall seeing, aside from Draenei or Orcs.â he continued as he lifted the cup once more to his lips, sipping from it slowly. âAnywayâ Back to you.â he said, a warm smile returning to his lips as he turned his hazel gaze back to her. âWhat was it like growing up in Elwynn, as the daughter of a Vintner?â
Elizebella listened with a hint of fascination shining in her amber hues. She brought the small, porcelain vessel back to her lips and took another drink and returned it to the saucer with a soft clattering as she spoke, âMy mother and father were very much two different people all together. They were a sort of arranged marriage, so to speak. However, they did love one another it seemed.â She chuckled and shook her head a couple of times, âMy mother wanted to wed me away several times, but I refused and my fatherââ She chuckled again and allowed her laughter to trail off a bit before continuing, âThere was no one good enough for his Lizzy. He had me chaperoned everywhere I ventured, if he happened to not be with me. I wasnât even allowed the be alone with staff unless they were female.â She turned gave a gentle shrug of her shoulders, âI suppose he was a bit overprotective of me, but I was his only daughter and only child. He refused to allow me to ponder much about relationships other than creating those for business.â She paused for a good moment as she watched Alphonso drink his tea, âI feel maybe Iâve spent far too much of my life focused on business, though I do not regret growing up the way I have; my father meant well to keep me away from romance.â
Alphonso slowly lowered his cup to the bench, placing it upon the oak with a soft clank as he turned a gentle hand over to her leg, giving it a soft squeeze. âWell, in a way, I am glad he kept you from other men.â he replied in a soft tone. âFor if you had been wed early, I would have never have had the pleasure of coming into your good gracesâŚâ he continued as his deep gaze met hers. âAnd the thought of that makes my heart sorrow, sweet Elizebella.â
Elizebella listened to his gentle words with her gaze shifting to his hand on her leg and then back to meet with his. She sat her cup aside much the same as he and place her hand atop of his own, âI believe to some extent that things do often occur for reasons, even if those reasons do not come into the light for many years.â She offered a tender smile with her amber hues staring into his hazel eyes with the same tenderness. She gave a soft squeeze of his hand, âAnd though I thought my fatherâs standards for men had worn off on me and that Iâd never meet a man that I felt could possibly understand a thing about me, I am so grateful that I was wrong in my assumptions⌠and grateful for my father teaching me to have such high standards.â She turned her gaze toward her hand that rested atop of his, âYour as handsome as you are sweet and very much a gentleman and with that said I think it is only fair that you know that youâve won my heart; you managed it quite easily.â She chuckled every so  quietly and returned her gaze to meet with his once more, âForgive me for the moments that my business mind seems to be in the forefront whilst were together. Sharing things that I hold in my heart has never been easy for me.â
Alphonso lifted his opposing hand atop herâs as he gently stroked the back of it. âSweet madam, you are as lovely as you are fierce, and know that you should never have to apologize for the way you are.â he replied with a tender smile. âIt is quite often that my own mind wanders to the same types of thoughts and actionsââ he continued. âThe way you are⌠the person that you are is what has brought my heart and mind into agreement in the love that I hold for you.â He paused for a few moments as his deep gaze washed over her, taking in her visage as if commemorating it forever in his mind. âAnd I should very much like to spend all my life with you, my dear Elizebella.â
It wouldnât take much observation to see the mist forming in her eyes to hear his last words. She closed her eyes for a brief moment to gather herself enough to bring herself to allow her eyes to meet with this deep, hazel gaze once more. She softly exhaled a gasped breath in thought as an affectionate smile was given to him in return before she could coax herself to speak, âI must confess that I had these same very thoughts play through my mind the very moment we first kissed, dearest Alphonso. I find myself thinking of you constantly and hoping that no matter what it is that youâre doing, that youâre happy.â She placed her free hand atop of his, bringing their hands to all be stacked in a nice layered pile on her leg, âI do love you, Alphonso and I wish to bring you the happiness in which you gift to me.â She felt her heart skip within her chest, nearly taking her breath for a moment.Â
Alphonso remained silent for a few moments as his heart pounded in his chest, each beat reverberating through his eardrums as he worked up the courage to ask what he wished. âThen⌠Elizebella LudlowâŚâ he stammered, swallowing a large lump that welled in his throat. âYou have been my my first, true love, and I spend nearly every waking moment thinking about youâŚâ he continued as he tightened his grasp on her hand. âAnd I-I would like nothing more than for us to spend the rest of our lives togetherâŚâ he paused, exhaling softly. âWould you honour me in the bonds of eternal matrimony, to become my wife?â
Elizebella canted her head just slightly as she noticed the slight stammering of his words. She had nearly began to think sheâd said too much of what she thought, until he continued on. Her amber hues remained locked onto his hazel eyes that displayed emotion affirming his affectionate words. Her gaze shifted to their hands as he gently squeezed hers, feeling the nervous tension in his grip. As his words continued she looked back to Alphonso with curiosity building within her amber hues. As his proposal met with her auditory a soft gasp escaped her lips. Her eyes widened with a joyous sparkle and her smile couldâve lit the darkest of nights and her heart thudded within her chest. She shifted their hands, taking both of his into hers, lacing their fingers together as she nodded her head, âYes, yes⌠My dearest Alphonso, a million times, yes!â She could scarcely contain the joy within her feeling as if she would burst at the seams any moment.
