To me, calling Sylvie superior version of Loki before she even appeared on the screen and also giving Richard's Loki all the magic I was waiting 10 years for after 5 minutes of screen time is to me like spitting into Tom's face.
Like saying his Loki and his portrayal was not good enough, despite turning him into legend, and giving new Loki all the magic his Loki should have shown, because we have been waiting for it, is the greatest injustice I have ever witnessed.
No really. Picture you play a God and wizard for a decade. And writers only give you stupid knives while you know about all the magical powers your character has. You work your ass off. Study the psychology of the character.
Then after 10 years they bring in new versions of the character, call them better, and give them all those powers you wanted to show over the years, but writers never let you.
How would you feel?
How the series was advertized:
What we then got instaed:
It was lies and false advertizing, making it look like it was Loki's show all along, that he was overcoming obsticles alone, then we got him only as a sidekick. So yeah. We are angry and we have every right to be.
If it was advertized like this from the beginning, like them puting Kathy next to Clint in Hawkeye trailer, I would at least be prepared for the option that he might be sidekick again. But they deliberately mislead us by making it look like it will be finally his solo thing then it wasnt.
Dont give me the 'it would be a spoiler if they kept her there' bullshit. NOBODY WAS FORCING THEM TO USE FOOTAGE WHERE SYLVIE IS FOR TRAILERS. They could have just used clips where he is alone that dont require photoshop. Oh wait. There were so few of them, because Loki does nothing in his own series without that bitch, that they literaly had to use footage with her.
What do you call 80s fantasy mixed with cottage core?
Whatever it is, that's my aesthetic
Last week, I rewatched Frozen II and I love this scene so very much, I had to combine it with my obession for Loki. Also Frigga >>>>>>>

Honestly he looks PISSED that this kid is besting him.
I love how his mood changes as the movie goes on from 'haha I will win, u stupid brat', over being pissed that she is such a tough cookie he can't get down, up to him almost exploding in the last scene but trying to hide it behind a very calm face and then finally just being like '....fck, I rly have no power over her.'
This is the colour you get if you translate jareths name into numbers (via the old phone number keypads)
It's actually quite beautiful, maybe I'll do more of these
The tags.
Look, i think about this a lot.
David Bowie isnt problematic in this case but why the fuck did Terry Jones write that? And why did Jim Henson and Dennis Lee let him do it?
š
Kudos to David for stepping up but yeah I agree and do want to discuss this if anyoneās up for it. Itās a tough topic but Iād like to hear what you all have to say other than āwhat the hell were they thinkingā which is what weāre already asking.
Basically my thought is to me, it feels like the writers treated it as a story and THEN as a thing that had to be acted out. narratively, it's very fitting with the whole fairytale thing for there to be a minor romance between the heroine and the antagonist (for lack of a better word). It's interesting and it's a fun way to explore characters. but THEN, once it was actually a thing being acted by human actors and one of those actors was 14, they changed it to cut that scene. I don't think anyone needs to be cancelled or called problematic for the whole situation, because nothing that bad happened or hit the screen. And, I mean, it's my personal feeling that immediately hopping from "this person is problematic" to "this OTHER person must be the problematic one" isn't the best vibe. That blame jumping has some kind of weird trigger happy vibe to me, idk
You are so right and i apologize.
I actually didnt know they had originally written her as being older. However they still asked David to do it and he declined so its a bitā¦muddy. Like they cast her and didnt just automatically remove it. David had to say something first .
Always hold me accountable yāall ok? If im being too much or judgey or whatever PLEASE let me know
Iām also wondering if Jennifer knew about this š¤

I was a nasty ass little freak when i was a teenager.
And Jareth was one of the many objects of my desire.
This discussing is important and itās been a long time coming.
A good portion of you need to sit down and figure out if this is or isnāt the fandom for you.
Listen. The majority of the fandom are adults well over the age of like 20. That has much to do with most of the fans seeing the movie when it originally came out when they were younger or it was passed down to them from family members that saw Labyrinth when it came out. A lot of your Bowie fans who are also well over the age of 20-30 really enjoy this movie because Bowieās music follows much more mature themes than most (not all) younger people like myself would listen to today. Iāve been in the classic rock/glam rock fandom for a few years across multiple social media sites- most fans Iāve interacted with personally are over 30. Labyrinth in general constrains themed of growing up, keeping parts of your childhood, and understanding your sexuality as you transition from teen to adult. Jareth was/is a heartthrob for many. Ive seen countless posts and heard what feels like a billion testimonies of Jareth being oneās sexual awakening. So itās like an equation: you take adults, Jarethās very intentional sex appeal experienced from that older generation- itās going to be a very adult fandom with very adult themes.
The biggest ship in this fandom is Sareth. Someone else can sit down and crunch the numbers but if I had to guess then Iād say 95% of fanfiction from AO3 to Wattpad is Sareth content. Safely, I can say 98% of that has an aged up Sarah- largely influenced by the canonical portrayal of Sarah being an adult in the Return to Labyrinth manga series as well as David Bowieās āAs the World Falls Downā music video. Sarah is canonically an adult in both one which directly involves Bowie. Which I find hilarious considering most of the people I see having any problem with the ship are much younger Bowie fans. Like 13-19 year old Bowie fans. Like yell at your man that you worship so much too if this ship truly bothers you that much. Look back at some of the interviews for Labyrinth and tell me what you think of Bowie and a few other people you like after that. I canāt help but notice the hypocrisy your spouting. But I digress: Itās fine if you donāt see them working out as a pair, itās fine if you donāt see the appeal, or want to ship at all in the fandom. If you find it creepy by your own personal views, fine! But when you enter a fandom that predominantly ships that thing that you donāt like so much, donāt be mad when you donāt most of the people in this fandom that you interact with ship that thing. And donāt be mad when someone gets offended by an assumption youāre throwing around when they are or not doing anything near what youāre assuming. Itās your job to curate your fandom experience and you can do that easily with simple tools like a search bar, unfollow button, and block button. Tag filtering helps too!
For myself, my personal views have changed so much from the time I entered this fandom to now. Iāve been just as hypocritical with some things that I understand and appreciate about Labyrinth that I couldnāt grasp before. But Iāll never agree with underage Sarah being paired with Jareth in any way. I canāt and wonāt stand for it and Iām not going to surround myself with people who are okay with it. Thatās for my own personal experiences and traumas I have endured but will not go into. I have boundaries. But to sit and point fingers at adults in an adult fandom that ships two adult characters together? Iām going to assume youāre a very ignorant and/or immature asshole, little 13-16 year old kid that probably needs more parents supervision. Why are you even on an app thatās age limit is 17+? Thatās on you, kiddo. If most of the adults on here have made it clear of what their content caters towards or if theyāre tagging properly, or that they donāt even want minors interacting with them in the first place, then itās on you to keep yourself away from what makes you or them uncomfortable.
And, my god, if you think Labyrinth is 100% a kidās movie??? Lol you and I mustāve watched two entirely different Labyrinths and you need to sit your ass down and rewatch the movie again because- well, you should know better. Iāll leave it at that. Yāall mustāve seen the version where every shot of Jareth is from like his mid-torso up lmao.
But with all of that being said- if you canāt handle the Labyrinth fandom mostly being made up of adults that ship something you canāt pull your head out of your ass to understand?? Allow me kindly show you the door:
Edit: Iām not gatekeeping Iām simply kicking your ass to try (probably in vain) and make you realize some things that I also had to realize
I agree and support you. Just to sum up my ass is 31. This blog is over a decade old.
I only support of age Sareth.
I also dont support Toby/Jareth because to me it feels like grooming (since he was an infant).
Make of this what you will.
Well, I do not ship Sareth and never really thought of it but yet I still follow a lot Labyrinth tumblrs. There is this nice option to block tags as well. This might be an option to some people who are discussed here, just saying. Keep enjoying the Labyrinth content you like and filter out what you don't like. I don't see a problem there, we all love the same movie.š¦
Thank you. ^^^^ filter option.
Iāll try to be more mindful about tags.
This.
There was a kiss written in the script and Bowie refused because SHE WAS 14.
#mood
actually, can we talk about how you can remove or alter not just Loki (*cough* Larry *cough*) but any goddamn character in the series besides Sylvie and have the overall plot remain the exact same? We've repeatedly talked about how you can remove Loki from the plot and Sylvie could still have bombed the Sacred Timeline, barged into the Time-Keepersā chambers, found out theyāre androids, eventually pruned herself/gotten pruned, enchanted Alioth, and killed He Who Remains to unleash the multiverse, but the exact same is also true for Mobius, Ravonna, B-15, and C-20. Replace Ravonna with any other Hunter and Sylvie still becomes a variant and manages to escape, replace C-20 with anyone else and it changes nothing, remove B-15 entirely and Sylvie could still simply overpower the minutemen who come to prune her. Even Mobius - Waldron's own dearest self-insert - has zero actual influence on the way the plot advances. Sylvie's the sole catalyst of the plot; no one else makes any significant contributions to the narrative. It's not just Loki, they're all sexy lamps! You could literally throw out all of episode 1, and most of episodes 2 and 3 (half of the series!) and Sylvie till bombs the Sacred Timeline, barges into the Time-Keepersā chambers, finds out theyāre androids, eventually prunes herself, enchants Alioth, and kills He Who Remains with only minor alterations made to the plot at most.
#forget my own feelings as a Loki stan - this series is just so immensely objectively bad it's unbelievable #Loki was the backbone of the plot even in Thor Ragnarok! #yet the ONLY one that matters in the series is sylve #even mobius is useless from a narrative standpoint and im- #no this is funny actually #waldron is so incompetent as a writer his own self insert contributes nothing to the plot except for torturing loki apparently #this calls for a standing ovation

Tips for Writing a Difficult Scene
Every writer inevitably gets to that scene that just doesn't want to work. It doesn't flow, no matter how hard you try. Well, here are some things to try to get out of that rut:
1. Change the weather
I know this doesn't sound like it'll make much of a difference, but trust me when I say it does.
Every single time I've tried this, it worked and the scene flowed magically.
2. Change the POV
If your book has multiple POV characters, it might be a good idea to switch the scene to another character's perspective.
9/10 times, this will make the scene flow better.
3. Start the scene earlier/later
Oftentimes, a scene just doesn't work because you're not starting in the right place.
Perhaps you're starting too late and giving too little context. Perhaps some description or character introspection is needed before you dive in.
Alternatively, you may be taking too long to get to the actual point of the scene. Would it help to dive straight into the action without much ado?
4. Write only the dialogue
If your scene involves dialogue, it can help immensely to write only the spoken words the first time round.
It's even better if you highlight different characters' speech in different colors.
Then, later on, you can go back and fill in the dialogue tags, description etc.
5. Fuck it and use a placeholder
If nothing works, it's time to move on.
Rather than perpetually getting stuck on that one scene, use a placeholder. Something like: [they escape somehow] or [big emotional talk].
And then continue with the draft.
This'll help you keep momentum and, maybe, make the scene easier to write later on once you have a better grasp on the plot and characters.
Trust me, I do this all the time.
It can take some practice to get past your Type A brain screaming at you, but it's worth it.
So, those are some things to try when a scene is being difficult. I hope that these tips help :)

just a reminder that thereās so much more that we still donāt know about ourselves and thatās what makes life so beautiful. next year you could find your next favorite musician or fall in love with someone you havenāt even met yet. you might see a new shade of green that will become your new favorite color or you could become obsessed with a new food that you thought you once hated. we change as life goes on. we grow as life changes. our experiences shape us into a new person. itās beautiful.
