it was almost the end of my 24-hr shift, a woman came in with complaint of hypogastric pain dahil "nakunan" daw. She also presented with elevated BP and was managed accordingly. At nang nagtanong na ako regarding her condition, it was actually a preterm delivery, so she spontaneously delivered to a stillborn female with multiple anomalies. She kept crying because of pain at yun pala, di pa lumabas ang placenta. So ayun, dahil masikip ang sipit niya and the baby was only about less than 400 grams, nahirapan akong kunin ang natitirang conception products sa loob. Challenging talaga kasi the placenta should be out para hindi lumala ang bleeding niya and be relieved pero the procedure itself is so painful kaya I had to reassure her. Eventually, the placenta went out of her so ayun, she's relieved but still in regret due to their loss kasi they wanted a baby girl (they have 2 boys already). As a physician, nagawa ko na responsibilidad ko but I had to extend beyond my limits and offer encouraging and uplifting message to the patient and her husband kahit papaano. Kahit na umabot ang baby na mailuwal siya, siguro it was God's way of keeping the baby and the family from further suffering since she could be born with many abnormalities. But the pain was valid, as always. But God knows better.

never knew it would be this hard letting go of a person who made me feel so appreciated, even the littlest of things I do.

I will never forget this day. Amidst their grief, the family was so grateful for my service. It will remind me that as long as you do your utmost best, you will always be appreciated. Sustenance for strength, is what I pray for.
