“I fucking hate these guys but, my dad said if I stayed in my room any longer, he’d ground me to a camping trip,” Hades lamented, pulling down his hat farther. He could be practicing his evil laugh in the mirror or finding a way to ask Eros ou–uhhh he meant cause general mischief. 

“They aren’t…as bad once you get to know them–” Athena begins, picking up her book from its face down position on the table.

“C’MON, ARES, TAKE HIS ASS DOWN!” The girl shouts, surging up from her spot. Hades, as shocked as an emo once they realize they’ve accidentally worn a colorful shirt, jumps in his seat, a hand covering his now rapidly beating heart. Eros, once his eyes got ripped off of a jogger passing by, had challenged Ares to an arm wrestling match–a bad decision, really. 

Athena grins down at the other boy, slowly sinking back down onto the bench, picking her novel back up, regaining her previously composed and neutral state. What the hell? Hades’s dad really hung out with these…people’s(??) parents? His dad–the man who practically wore a cloak every second of his life, spent at least four hours on his makeup everyday, and wouldn’t touch another human being unless he had gloves on and hand sanitizer on his person–spent actual, valuable time with the most uncouth group of children Hades had ever met in his life’s parents? The boy tried to imagine this, his father sitting at a park bench next to Minerva as Venus and Hera battled while Dionysus cheered on. Just the thought sent an uncomfortable shiver down the boy’s spine.  It was when Demeter clapped hands with Ares (whose other arm stood unmoving even as Eros tried to desperately pull it down) that Hades realized he was stuck with these assholes for the entire summer.
