If my page suddenly stops posting one day, know that my baby Qais has died. I will never forget the people who saw my child bleeding, suffering, and begging for help, yet chose silence and continued scrolling.
I feel completely broken and deeply ashamed begging strangers for help every day, because this suffering has turned me into a mother forced to sacrifice even her dignity just to keep her child alive.
I want nothing from this world except seeing my baby Qais walk and laugh again. Please donate so I can buy medicine and bandages instead of expired drugs and torn clothes cleaning his wound.
Please donate now Gofundme
I’m saying this with a heart that can’t take more pain. If you read this and scroll away, I won’t forgive you. My baby is slipping away. Please donate now, please share—save Qais.
My take (Ver. 2) of a Freya Crescent concept for a full silicone mask + flocking and hair punching.

your "human vs reaction" posts basically explains one of the reasons why im havings such a hard time finding new books to read (and why i burned out on my own writing once i was 17). Do you have any recs for character drama focused books? Something thats more human vs human or human vs self than human vs reaction.
(feel free to rec mangas/manwhas, if you feel it fits the bill)
First things first, let me clear up a few things for people coming from that post. I am not an enemy of genre fiction. I don't dislike a story just because it's action-heavy, dramatic, or built around big moments. That's not what I'm saying at all.
My issue is with a certain type of writing where characters feel like they only exist to set up the next hype moment. When characters become nothing more than tools for cool entrances, power-ups, shocking twists, or "goosebumps" scenes, that's where I start checking out. Add mediocre prose on top of that, and the whole thing just gets exhausting.
Now, before answering your request, allow me to say that I'm sorry you're feeling burned out from writing. I think you should read more.
Just read. Read a lot. Read things outside of your comfort zone. Pick up different genres. Read translated fiction. Read nonfiction. If you're learning another language, try reading books in that language too. Immerse yourself in other people's writing. Sometimes you don't find inspiration by forcing yourself to write more. Sometimes you find it by remembering what made you love stories in the first place.
Next, the recommendations. I was tempted to recommend literary fiction because a lot of it focuses heavily on interiority and character psychology. But I also think there is genre fiction that does these things extremely well.
At the same time, I don't want anyone to come away from my post thinking that I believe all hope is lost for contemporary genre fiction. That is not my intention at all. There are still plenty of writers out there doing amazing things within the genre.
The difference is that the best genre fiction doesn't sacrifice character for spectacle. The spectacle works because of who these characters are, the choices they make, and the clever imagination of the writers behind them.
For fantasy, I would recommend Patricia A. McKillip's The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. It is a good example of fantasy where the magic and wonder never overshadow the characters. The writing is beautiful, the emotions are subtle, and the story trusts the reader to sit with its mysteries rather than constantly chasing the next big moment.
For mystery, I would recommend Seishi Yokomizo's The Inugami Curse. While it is a mystery built around a compelling puzzle, the story works because of the people involved—their histories, relationships, desires, and secrets.
I should admit that I am generally a bit averse to science fiction, so I don't have as many recommendations in that area. At first, I wanted to recommend Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair, but it isn't really a character drama focused story, and based on what you're looking for, I don't think it would be the best fit.
That said, if you ever change your mind and want something with more humor, creativity, and a lot of playful ideas, then you should definitely give The Eyre Affair a try.
For manga, I would recommend Hirayasumi by Keigo Shinzo. I’m kind of obsessed with it right now lol. It’s not really a high-concept story, but it’s exactly the kind of character-focused work that reminds me why I love slice-of-life manga in the first place.
