My class this year was born between October 2019 and June 2020. Last month, I was showing them different artist interpretations of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" to get ready for our own performance, including an Alicia Keys video from summer of 2020. They were asking why everyone was wearing masks. I told them the video was filmed "during COVID, before we had a vaccine." Blank stares. I tried re-stating what I meant several times. They didn't know what I was talking about. We spent the next fifteen minutes learning what the COVID-19 Pandemic was. 😭
