In my writing process, I'm very proud of my ability to cut down my writing. I often write way more than I ever need for an essay, but being able to pare it down to just the bare essentials of what needs to be said is a skill that I have honed since high school, and I'm glad that I feel like I've been getting better and better at it.

Fantastic job in recognizing that and the improvements you’ve made! I too would add way more than what I needed to in my writings that I would miss the main point. Back in high school, I had teachers say, “I added a bunch of fluff”, just nonsense words and information in my writings. So throughout the course I’ve learned to just stick to the main points needed for the writings, awesome job!

Prompt 2: what are you most proud of with your writing process?

I am proud of the improvements I have made to my writing, specifically when I decided to start proofreading my work my thoroughly when I am finished writing my papers. I did not always proofread before finishing my paper in the past, but this class has taught mw the importance of proceeding because it makes my writing look better and more professional, which is one of the writing goal I had for this class. So I am proud that that aspect of my writing has improved.

That’s an awesome improvement! I also, didn’t really proofread my writings and I realized throughout this course, that I need to proofread and make the edits to make the writing more proficient and professional. Great job!

what are you most proud of with your writing process?

I'm happy that I embraced being "all over the place". I think for the first draft, I was too concerned with making it perfect. In the writing process, it's important to consider progress and not perfection. The first draft is there for you to make mistakes. I got a lot of valuable feedback during this phase.

What do you like the most about your responses to the questions?

How truthful I was in answering the questions. Looking back I’ve realized how much of a difference my writings were and the effort I had put in my writings before taking this class and enhancing my writing skills.

For my writing process, I actually have been taking the time to reread my writings and make the edits I need to. Before I would just write everything out and submit my writings without even going back through them. I’ve learned that I’ve been missing on one of the most important parts in the writing process. It’s helped me to be more confident in my writing as well.

What do you like most about your learning?

I like how I’ve made progress in working harder on assignments, taking the extra time to complete assignments and writings instead of rushing through to just get it done in a sense. I’ve learned to take more time with my learning, going back through, rereading, and rewriting things to better help me understand and grow.

This assignment made me reconsider certain aspects of my writing. I received feedback about my hypothesis. It wasn't clear enough about what I was testing, and why. I also made a lot of assumptions about "student", which I wrote about in my previous post. I considered what the *average* student would be, but not *every* student. I needed to go more in depth about what kinds of students would follow a Millersville English department account. I have to adapt for these aspects, because it's not thorough enough currently. I appreciated the feedback. It made me understand that I have to weave more critical thinking into my work.

I also had to elaborate more on the assumptions about the “students”. It was something I never would’ve pointed out or realized if I didn’t receive the feedback. It helped to use more critical thinking and to adapt on the student part and to not just make assumptions.

I adapted my writing process when drafting this assignment. I received feedback on my hypothesis, which resulted in me needing to revisit and revise my information. I drafted this assignment differently than usual, as I created graphs and diagrams before writing. I appreciated the feedback as I felt like my writing went smoothly once I began. I incorporated information from my brainstorming, which I had gotten from reading the article and conducting the audience analysis, into my draft, making it more effective for my final result.

I would say my current mood is stressed. I always associate red with being stressed out, almost like an alert. I have had so much on my plate between classes, starting a new job, and getting married in two weeks…I’ve been very stressed, and trying to relax as much as I can!

Data driven writing will help in post-grad life…

Helps communicate clearly, make informed decisions, and persuade others using evidence. It helps to back up arguments with credible evidence and sources. It also helps to make essays more convincing, and better helps with peer edit and review as well. It also helps with enhancing critical thinking skills, and will help show employers how you analyze, explain, and interpret data.

How am I adapting my writing process for this assignment?

I’m doing a lot of jumping back and forth with drafting this assignment. I feel like I usually am more organized with my writing process, but this time around I’m not. I’m going back from my original data, to the article, to the Instagram account I’m collecting from, and back to my excel spreadsheet with creating my graphs. I feel like it’s been a hot mess but I’m completing the tasks needed.

How does data prove/disprove your hypothesis?

My hypothesis is, The Millersville Women’s rugby team will have more functional content, giving off less engagement, rather than institutional for a higher engagement, for their new start of a sport introduced at Millersville University.

From collecting data, I feel like I’ve been able to truly answer my hypothesis because seeing the information laid out visually has helped immensely for me in answering my hypothesis. Seeing the data helps for you to compare and contrast the data you found to your hypothesis, you’ll be able to see if it matches or does not match your data.

Long project? Don't stress it!

That title isn't completely accurate. I stress myself silly over long and complicated projects. But! This is how I make it work for me:

Set aside specific days/times to work. Not knowing when I am going to work on a project makes me stressed when I am not doing it. This way, I know it has its specific time and place!

Break it up! I cannot complete this all at once. Setting aside one day to just bang the project out sounds good, but will NOT work. I do little bits in-between other work. I collected my data over 3 days in between studying for exams.

Motivation! We all are motivated by different things. Grades, breaks, little treats, being done! I tend to give myself little goals to reach before I am allowed to do something (Go on a walk, have a sweet, Play a video game, watch an episode of a show) this allows me to commit myself to working on the project until I hit a certain stopping point.

What ways do you plan out working on a long project?

I love your break down for assignments! I simply just do the break it up part, and never thought about motivations to help. I think that’s a great idea to help keep that motivation going throughout the project, I might have to add that into my process. Best of luck on your project!

How am I dividing the project to complete small parts each day?

For this project, I analyzed each step in the Data section and divided it accordingly. On day one, I picked an account that I wanted to collect samples from and gathered my 10 posts and then developed my hypothesis. Days two and three, I implemented 5 posts into my data chart each day and took detailed notes for each post. day 4 I was able to review my findings to help create my audience analysis.

Share your strategy for tackling a longer project with less stress.

As I mentioned in my last post, I am ensuring that I stay on top of my work and complete a small part each day. I break down the work for the week and plan it into my schedule. This helps me stay on top of the work and prevents procrastination. Having a plan helps me to complete the required parts of the project with less stress.

My favorite tv show is Yellowstone. It is one of my favorite shows because of the dramatic dialogue and also reminds me of more of an old western show. It also gives real and raw emotions and stories/issues people face throughout their life.

What’s working? And what’s not?

I’m finding it easier collecting data for the project, but analyzing it and comparing/contrasting it to the article has been a challenge. Overall just understanding the article and pulling out key points and relating it to the data I’m collecting. But working at it little by little has been helping.
