This is basically the first time Hux sees Kylo without his mask on, Kyloâs POV, and itâs PREEEETTY different from all Iâve seen out there. I have a different headcanon

The date had been arranged before. Kylo knew it was important for whatever Snoke had planned. It had to be made. Still, the whole situation did not help with Kyloâs nervousness.
He knew the Supreme leader would be angry if he sensed how tense and uncomfortable Ren actually was. He tried to stop it, to control it the best he could. He didnât want anything bad to happen. It was simple. Easy. He just needed to remove his mask in front of another person. No big deal.
Kylo had never been confidant in his skin. He always felt too large, too awkward, his face too big, his nose, his ears. He let his hair grow only so he could cover them, so his head wouldnât feel so strange. Since he was a kid, his body had never been his favorite thing about himself.
Obviously he learned how to deal with it, and it was easier after he started training with Snoke since he never let any other apprentice make fun of him like the kids in the Rebellion did. He learned how to control his insecurities and now that he wore a mask, everything seemed to become even easier. But now, he would have to remove it. In front of one of the people he hated the most, after his family.
Probably for the General it would be extremely awkward. Snoke had given Kylo a week to talk to the general, and told him he hadnât warned the ginger man yet. That he wouldnât. He would let Kylo present himself. So it would be a surprise, and Kylo wasnât exactly ready to see the manâs reaction. Especially since Hux was actually very handsome himself and had always seen and treated Kylo with respect, even if they disagreed every now and then.
What would be of Ren if suddenly all the respect he had flew off the window just because he âlooked funnyâ or âseemed too young for a leaderâ. Hux wasnât old himself but even so, he had those harsh impressions on his face that Kylo surely didnât have.
It didnât matter. Kylo breathed deeply again. It was a mission. A simple one. Kylo would not fail. It was simple: walk to Huxâs room, take off his mask, put it on and leave. Nothing to worry about. Hux wouldnât do like those boys from the Rebellion and even if he did, Kylo was mature now, he was a man, and he would not care of the words that left the Generalâs mouth.
Kylo breathed deeply for the tenth time in front of Huxâs door before raising his hand and knocking on it slowly. It took almost a minute for the door to open, but when it did, he walked inside and looked around the room. Hux was on his chair, pad in hand, dressed only with a tank top and some sweatpants. He surely was ready to bed. After all, it was nighttime. The general looked up at Kylo and raised his eyebrow quietly before closing the door behind him.
Kylo stared at him for a while, trying to decide whether explaining why he was doing that or just taking the mask off like a Band-Aid. He decided the latter, pressing the sides of his mask, which simply opened it and made possible for him to remove it and hold it on his hands. He looked at the ground for a few seconds before looking up again, not knowing what he would find.
Completely opposite from what he expected, he met nothing but Huxâs face, with no alterations at all. He stared at the general for a few seconds before frowning lightly.
âArenât you going to say anything?â he asked, almost outraged, before realizing that without his mask, everything had an actually pretty nice, human sound. Hux looked at him a bit surprised before chuckling and looking down at his pad, uninterested.
âWhat do you want me to say?â he asked, before moving a few things in his pad. âDo you have anything important to tell me or you just removed your mask for the fun of watching me see your face? Because I really donât care about your face so you donât have to show me any of itâ he said simply, before looking up at Kylo again. The knight almost felt disappointed, though he wasnât sure why, before shaking his head and holding his mask tighter.
He probably looked like a vulnerable teen right now.
âNo I wasnât. Snoke told me it was essential for our well being that I showed you my face. Something about human contact that I donât know about. I did it anywayâ he said lightly, and Hux nodded slowly with a smirk.
âThere are some things we understand better than Snoke, Ren. You didnât really have to come here and show me your faceâ he said, tilting his head and checking Kylo from head to toe. The knight felt himself almost blushing. This was ridiculous. âThough I have to say I am diappointed.â
âDisappointed? With my face?â Kylo asked, and if he didnât look like a vulnerable, self-conscious teenager before, he surely did now. His voice almost cracked. Why did he feel so weak suddenly? Why wasnât it becoming anger like it always did?
Maybe it was just too personal even for himself to understand.
âYes.â Hux said, objective as always. âI am disappointed with your face. I thought there was a real reason for you to wear that mask. After all, knights like you usually go out and fight so I expected at least a few scars that you didnât like showing around. But no. You have a smooth, baby like face. Itâs disappointing to me. And confusing. I donât fully understand why you wear that maskâ
âMostly to keep me anonymousâ Kylo explained, a bit calmer now. Hux didnât seem to have any comment besides those, which relieved Kylo a bit. Then, the general looked him up and down and returned to his pad.
Kylo stood still for a second, frowning lightly and watching as the ginger threw his pad away and looked at Kylo relaxed.
âThree weeks ago, Snoke told me to tell you my first name. Since you showed me your face, nothing more fair than completing the whole mission. My first name is Andrew. General Andrew Huxâ he said with a smirk. It had a nice ring. General Andrew HuxâŚ
âYour secret is safe with me, Generalâ Kylo said, before putting back his mask and walking to the door. He closed it behind him, only to hear a very low laugh coming from inside.
âSo is yours, Ben SoloâŚâ
