Do you take lessons? Or do you teach yourself? Because if I ever learned, I’d probably end up teaching myself, even if takes longer. All the really great musicians taught themselves at least to some degree, you know? Are you good?

[stares for a moment, swallowing hard] I uh -- teach myself? Mostly, I guess. Like I haven't like -- taken lessons, just like, played around with it, I guess. [scratches the back of his neck] I uh -- don't know? If I'm like, good. I'm okay, I guess.

[kneels down with a shake of her head and helps scoop up at least some of the paper] You’re totally fine. I wasn’t really looking where I was going either, dear.

[shrugs his shoulders, eventually putting all the paper back in his folder] It's uh fine. Not many people 'round here pay attention.

Oh my god that’s so cool. I wish I played guitar. Or any kind of instrument, really. I sing and stuff, but it’s just so much cooler when you can play for yourself too. [hands him papers] Uh, here.

[nods and shoves the paper into his folder before standing up and clearing his throat] Uh, thank you. So you like sing, which is cool I guess. Yeah, cool, I just -- I don't know, try to play, I guess.

No, it’s fine. I shouldn’t have been texting and walking. Leading cause of accidents, you know? [laughs and goes to help him, noticing the music] Oh, what do you play?

[looks up slightly but immediately looks down again, clearing his throat] Uh, guitar. I play or like, try to play guitar.

Perfect. I’m taking that as permission granted.

I wish they made you shave it off.

I know it looks stupid, but my parents wouldn't like, let me go back to school if I didn't dye my hair back brown.
