he says that, and yet life has proven whether it is or isn't... people are all far too eager to treat it as it is. at the very least it's something exploitable: a natural gentleness that not everyone has been burdened with, that leaves her skin  &&  heart scraped like a child's knees. his reassurance would - could - maybe mean more without the life that she's lived, without the experiences that don't show on soft features.

He doesn’t just listen, he hears the words, feels them; yes, there is some truth in their point of view, but again, it cancels the meaning behind his words, his own opinion that is.   ❝  Havin’ a hear’ filled with kindness in’a cruel world’s tough, ya gotta be strong for it, no’ jus’ courageous.  ❞   He fiddles with the zipper of his jacket before zipping it all the way up, hands burying into the pockets in search for warmth. He’s always cold, isn’t he? A consequence to the cruelty of heartless people, a one that should have turned his heart into a stone dirtied with bloodstains of all those he has lost, AGONY that would break the toughest of ribcages, yet he tries to hold on to the softness in there, not for him, not for the people receiving it, but for those who are long lost; his brother would have looked up to him if they were alive, he would have put a good example for them, and so he still does, tries.

There is a big smile that still holds softness to it upon his features as if he has already won the game (he won something) when he hears their words; no fighting back, no pushing away.   ❝  Oh, really? Maybe we can win this, after all~  ❞   His grip loosens to show them he trusts them with this, they can lead the way to victory, hopefully. Yet, he has to have fun and let them do too.   ❝  Let’s see who makes it first there?  ❞   There is a playfully mischievous tug of his lips, urging them to bring the COMPETITIVENESS in them as his feet start the race already, leaving them no chance to refuse.
