merry christmas, everyone /o/ this is my present(?) mura became too boyfriend-ly tho haha
Murasakibara has nothing against the cold but the road to your house seems so long. He snuggles into his scarf and keeps his hands in the pocket of his jacket. Kotatsu, is all he can think about in his mind. He isn't a particularly festive person and his family rarely gets together to celebrate Christmas in recent years. With his siblings getting attached, they tend to celebrate with their partners' families. He doesn't want to interrupt his parents either.
How does it feel like to celebrate Christmas with your other half? He couldn't help but think about it and somewhere inside, he is getting nervous. He isn't sure if it's because he will be spending Christmas with you or because he will be meeting your parents for the first time or maybe both. Your relationship with him has started going steady recently and it surprised him when you invited him to celebrate Christmas at your house. He has acted indifferent about it but it honestly shakes him up. He's looking forward to Christmas this year. He swings the bag containing the cookies he baked with his sister by flapping his arm lightly, thinking of possible ways to eat the cookies. He hopes you and your family will like them.
Reluctantly taking his hand out of his pocket, he fishes out his phone and checks the address. He nods to himself, stuffs his phone back into his jeans' pocket and his hand back into the pocket and press the doorbell. A Christmas tune plays off and he raises his eyebrow slightly, noticing that your family has put in some effort in decorating your place. He bows politely when a middle-aged lady opens the door, looking rather shocked to see him. His height, maybe. His lips curl into an awkward smile as your mother invites him in warmly after introducing herself. He takes off his shoes and takes the chance to have a good look at your house as you mother shuts the door. The photos with you pasted along the walls are hard to ignore and they help him feel more relax. Your house is warmer than being outside but he still finds it cold as he pushes his hands deeper into his pocket. "Atsushi-kun, come this way." He almost jumped when your mother brings his attention back. He bows again and follows closely as she leads him to the living room.
"Ah, Atsushi!" You smiles, face brightening up and teeth showing at the sight of the purple giant in your house. Murasakibara bows for the third time that day, this time towards your father who is sitting beside you. Kotatsu, he thought as he sees you and your father sitting under your kotatsu nicely. "Mum, dad, this is my boyfriend, Murasakibara Atsushi." You introduces, causally linking your arm with his.
"Nice to meet you, Atsushi-kun. Youâre really tall, like ______ said." Your father welcomes him with a short laugh because of his own comment, getting up to offer Murasakibara a handshake. Murasakibara quickly takes out his hand to accept the handshake, bowing for the fourth time. It is probably the only time he takes his hand out from the warm comfort of his pocket so willingly in the harsh weather.
âThank you for inviting me here. I brought some cookies.â He answers stiffly, sounding much more serious than his usual lazy self as he passes the bag of cookies over. Seeing him acting so mature and serious in front of you parents, the giggles you are containing spill out and you muffle them with your hands. â______-chin⌠â he whines softly, before trying to present himself properly in front of your parents. You playfully stick out your tongue to his dismay and pretend to not notice the âSOS signalâ he is sending you.
Your parents give each other knowing smiles as they witness the interaction between the both of you. Murasakibaraâs height is no joke though, they both thought at the same time.
âIt must be cold out, Atsushi-kun. Have a seat under the kotatsu. The food is not ready first so just make yourself comfortable in the meantime.â
Kotatsu, Murasakibara thought again, not realising the twitch of his lips and the way his eyes sparkle in the direction of the kotatsu. Laughing at your boyfriend again, you pull him to the kotatsu and get him to sit down. He sighs in bliss under the warmth the kotatsu provides. It becomes a funny sight when his legs actually extend all the way to the other end of the kotatsu. Even your parents are laughing along with you.
Wriggling his toes with his striped socks on, he says, âOh, Iâm sorry about this.â
Your father has to clear his throat to stop his laughter before motioning for you and your mother to join Murasakibara too. Thankfully, there is still enough space under the kotatsu to fit everyone. It soon turns into a chitchat session as your parents bombard Murasakibara with questions and you try to make fun of your boyfriend.
âAtsushi-kun, is there anything in particular that you want to eat?â
âThe cake,â Murasakibara says with a dreamy expression.
âHe just loves everything sweet and hates vegetables, mom. Just like a kid, right?â you intervene with a cheeky smile, blatantly ignoring the accused look your boyfriend is sending you.
â_______-chinââ He wants to protest until you shove a gingerbread cookie into his mouth. He munches while looking indignified, finally seeming to be more comfortable with your family.
âSo, the both of you been dating for close to half a year? How did you guys get to know each other? Youâre the first boyfriend my daughter ever brought back.â You father asks, genuinely curious about your boyfriend and your relationship. A sheepish grin appears on Murasakibaraâs stuffed face (and it is stuffed because he canât stop eating the cookie after you let him have the first one) as you turn beet red.
âShe took the last milk chocolate pocky and I wanted it⌠I think thatâs it, right, ______-chin?â Murasakibara tries to recall. âAh, and that time at the matâ OwâŚâ He feels the weight of your legs on his and the look you are sending him which seems to say âstop right thereâ. There is no way you are going to let him tell your parents that you told a him, a so-called stranger back then, that he was cool after watching his match.
Luck isnât on your side since your parents are successful at getting Murasakibara spill all your date details and other embarrassing things as they give him cookies, cakes and anything sweet they can find. It is useless to stop them because the other three are too interested in embarrassing you by sharing every embarrassing story they know about you. Your parents and even Murasakibara look happy as they chat. Murasakibara looks contented with the supply of snacks he is getting too.
The oven goes âding!â and your mother runs into the kitchen to check on the food, ending their embarrassing talk for a while as everyone go over to lay the table (though Murasakibara had some troubles getting out of the kotatsu). The table is livelier than the previous year with the edition of the purple giant. It brings a smile on everyoneâs faces as your parents get to know more about Murasakibara and talk about random topics. Murasakibara stays for a movie which ends up with you cuddling close to him for the heat and him doing the same while your parentsâ situation are not far from that.
âThank you for coming today, Atsushi. My parents seem to like you too,â you say with a small grin as you lead him to the door. âItâs really fun today.â
Turning his back to the door, he raises his arms and asks, âCan I have a hug, ______-chin? Iâm cold.â You gladly enclose yourself in his large arms, wrapping your around his neck by tiptoeing slightly. âMerry Christmas, _____-chin. I had fun too.â He whispers softly by your ear, something he does when expresses what he feels directly.
âOkay then, see you in school next term and reply to my messages faster. Donât snack too much.â You break away from the hug and turn him around, pushing him out of the door.
âHmm⌠âkay, Iâll try. Bye bye, ______-chin, mom and dad.â He says loud enough for your parents who are inside to hear, waving the hand holding the Christmas goodies he got from your parents. He walks about three steps away and his hands are already digging the bag of snacks. This is one of the best Christmas (filled with snacks, nice food and your embarrassing stories) he has ever had and it is the same for you.
