I’m currently 30, and I’m your local starcatgender transmasc panromnatic asexual. I prefer they/he pronouns on the internet.
My current biggest interests include: Kingdom Hearts, Yugioh anime (DM - Go Rush), In Stars and Time, Deltarune, Persona 3 & 5, Umamusume, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Megaman Battle Network.
I'm very shy, I'm employed full time, I have frequent migraines, I'm overcoming extremely bad sleep apnea, and I've been moving out of the house that I grew up in since July 2025. These factors can make me really fatigued and quiet, and I have a difficult time initiating conversation. I went to a library book sale this weekend and I found a very old book called “Electronic Life: How to Think About Computers,” which was published in I think 1975? I’ve been reading it kind of like how I would read a historical document, and it’s lowkey fascinating
There’s a whole paragraph that’s like “okay, find the keyboard. Don’t panic if it has more keys than a typewriter, that’s normal. Really, it’s fine. The extra keys don’t make things harder. It’s FINE”
Thought this section was particularly interesting:
Can the computer create something? At first glance it seems obvious that it can. Animated computer graphics, with their fluid transitions and whiplash perspectives, look strikingly new. And if one watches the machine doing animation work, there seem to be lengthy periods when the computer is acting “on its own.”
But if one observes these processes in more detail, it becomes clear that creation is not occurring within the machine. First of all, computer graphics are not unique. Computers have yet to generate anything that cannot be done by hand—and usually already has been done. Second, the apparent ability of the computer to “act on its own” is the outcome of thousands of hours of patient human effort to refine its instructions. The computer can manipulate a shape for us if we have already informed it what a shape is, what the rules for shape manipulation are, what this specific shape is, and so forth.
You can start an automobile engine and it will run by itself, too, but that doesn’t mean it’s being creative. It’s just running.
Somebody in 1975 had a better understanding of why artificial intelligence is not in any way “intelligence” than the majority of today’s intellectual minds.

OOF yeah, really good point!! and that’s also iirc the most directly the Universe has ever “communicated,” right? like. most fucked version of events here would be Dagger -> Who Was Phone -> that window dialogue in Act 5.
you get Siffrin reaching a point of cynicism and detachment such that he asks for the power to treat his own body as disposable (moreso than he already is), which Loop does not want to grant him. and so the Universe steps in. forces Loop to grant Siffrin that particular avenue of bodily autonomy, by overriding what little autonomy Loop themself has to stop it.
there was no wish or ritual or prayer involved. Siffrin asked for a tool to aid in the fulfillment of their already existing wish, and the Universe provided it. no judgement, not forcing Siffrin to use it, just allowing the option to exist when asked.
but how many times did Siffrin—did Loop—ask for aid in other ways? and this is something the Universe answers directly? granting the option to kill himself in such a deliberate and brutal way?
and!!! the possession is directly preceded by Loop invoking the Universe to stop Siffrin from taking this course of action!! but it denies Loop and answers Siffrin, because Loop now exists in service of Siffrin’s wish. Loop already is the answer to the request for “help.” they “asked” to be here. and so they will help, willingly or not.
this is what the Universe is “saying” to Siffrin and Loop. what are they meant to take from that??
“oh, you know. Universe stuff.”
AND THEN.
“but hey its not every loop you get to meet a god, (and its not like yours will ever REALLY talk to you)”
and then they take the face of Loop, who is themself a manifestation of the Universe’s aid (such as it is), and SPECIFICALLY Loop’s form while being directly possessed by that god to “talk” to Siffrin.
because they think it’s all so entertaining. because their way of doing things is so much ~better~ that they make a mockery of the Universe’s means of communication. they saw the Universe give Siffrin the means to use his dagger on himself and used that form to say “I see you suffering, and I can’t wait to see you suffer more.”
and then they say “keep giving us a good show.” us, when it’s been all “i” and “me” until now.
so, then, is Siffrin nothing but a source of entertainment for the Universe, too? is that the point of all this? does the dagger just make things more interesting? what other conclusion can Siffrin draw from that?
