Also to say nothing of how often when they're not standing right next to each other for us to see their height difference, Tommy is sitting and Lizzie is standing or sitting above him (and probably fussing over him gently). For example:
And in the one scene where Tommy ends up standing over her and Lizzie is sitting, Lizzie is sitting in the captain's chair at their dining room table and ordering him to go to bed.
And look—I said playing up the height difference starts in season 6, but it actually kind starts late season 5. There's the sex scene during the party because Tommy's feeling very territorial and protective (and also it's not a party at Tommy Shelby's house if he's not making his guests wait while fucking his wife). But like they're going at it and the height difference is being played up. Then afterwards they're sitting next to each other and Tommy stands up to say something sweet and barely gains ANY height I love it so much.
Then of course there's THESE delightful angles in 5x05 not just making Tommy smaller but intentionally sharpening the angles to make Lizzie look even more imposing and make Tommy look sooooo small.
This is a guy who always has to look scary and imposing and in charge and is used to never being comforted or fussed over but he is falling to pieces peretually behind closed doors and yeah he and Lizzie will be fighting but also she fusses over him all the damn time and she treats him as her little spoon and he NEEDS that and he appreciates it.
