My partner has a pretty weak immune system and often gets hit with illness very hard. We also think it’s the illness that went around his work that laid out a bunch of people. Long story short I’m starting to feel the illness. It’s only in beginning stages, but this weekend we have plans to head into the nearby large city and see a musical. He looked at me today and said “try and refund those tickets cause if you’re sick I’m not bringing you”. Firstly, I don’t need his permission, they’re my tickets and if I decide I’m feeling too poorly I’ll make the decision for myself. Second of all, I don’t NEED him to bring me anywhere. I have my own car, when we go we take the train in, using tickets on MY phone and get Lyfts using MY phone. All of these trips are paid for almost entirely by me, so the idea that I’d need him to bring me is insulting. And he didn’t mean it as an insult but that didn’t change how I feel. When he’s sick or poorly I give him the option of bowing out of plans. But nope he knows best when it comes to me. Fuck that
