So like the jealousy was killing Poseidon alive. He proposed to Penelope to come into the sea with him when Odysseus wasn’t there and looking…He just wanted to end Penelope’s life for having his beloved mortal back his arms. When he brings her to the ocean and she didn’t know the real intention of Poseidon. In the ocean, the god of the sea just lets her drown in the water. It was finally where he wanted. Now Odysseus will only have eyes for him…But what Poseidon didn’t know is that the death of his wife will be the answer of the depression that Odysseus will have. He didn’t think about how the king of Ithaca will take the news. When the sea god came back on Ithaca and tell Odysseus the death of his wife, he didn’t anticipate the fact that he will cry. He just held the king in his arms without really knowing what do to now. He brings Odysseus to his palace and just lay with him on his bed. He knows he did something that had destroyed Odysseus but he just realized now.
“Odysseus…My love…I’m sorry for what happened to your wife. If you need anything I’m here okay? Just don’t suffer in silence. I’m here for you and I mostly just want your happiness”
He was feeling guilty for putting Odysseus in this situation. Poseidon only wanted Odysseus happy – with him not with his wife. Odysseus didn’t answer just curled more on himself. He was just not good he wanted his wife back his everything and Poseidon saw it..And it was making him so much jealous bc HE wanted to be the REASON of Odysseus happiness.
