Brian looked up at him. Traced his face with his fingers. Real. Real. Real. The air is hot— they should open the windows because it’s sweaty and uncomfortable. Instead, they just stand in front of each other, staring because they haven’t seen each other in a long time.

“You remember what it felt like when I first saw you?” Joji broke the silence. He held Brian’s hand, pressed his face into it. He breathed it in. Kissed it.

“I thought about my life.” Joji said, “how things grew into things I didn’t know could be so… good. How easily I could die, and yet I still found you.”

The ends of Brian’s lips twitched. The hand still on Joji’s face slipped to the back of his neck, another hand on his neck.

Brian kissed him. Joji moved after a split second, kissing back and circling his arms around his waist.

“I never gave up.” Brian said, whispering into his lips. He just wanted him close. So close. His fingers moved through his hair and he clutched tightly. Joji pulled him in further, clothes bunching up in his grip.

Then Joji pulled away. Kissed his ear, his cheek, his jaw and his neck. Dropped his head into his shoulder. Breathed in his scent.
