When you finish a thing and it can be worn two ways!
Is there like a knitting/crochet discord or something? Just really wanna chat with other crafters.
I’m gonna start keeping a log of what I do while I knit things for other people. I feel like it would really help get the point across as to just how long it takes.
Because when I say “I can knit a pair of socks in one week” most non-knitters seem to hear “I knit leisurely for a few hours every evening after work for a week” not “Making these socks seriously took me 7 consecutive days, knitting like a fiend for 6-8 hours each day”.
I’ll create a slightly passive-aggressive tag in a bold impact font that reads
“This pair of socks was made possible by these four movies, three seasons of this show and two seasons of this other one, two knit-and-bitch sessions, forty mugs of tea, and 15,000 knit stitches.”
and then maybe they’ll get it.
I feel like I need to do this too. People keep asking me how long it takes to make something like it’s their need to know.
Don’t forget the “I had to stop and referee a fight between the kids which took even more time”
Hi my name is Nicole and I buy cheap yarn at the craft store. *gasp* What!? I know! S H O C K I N G ☠️ So. I’ve seen a lot of people recently touting the whole “Only buy sustainably sourced, naturally dyed, organic fibers spun by woodland fairies on a hand carved mahogany wheel in a field of wildflowers.” thing…bleh. I get it, I do, if I could knit with only the finest quality yarns in all the land of course I would. But I can’t. And a lot of people can’t. And for whatever reason people aren’t getting that. When I buy a luxury yarn (or shmancy yarn as I call it), it is a treat that I worked my butt off for. But if I only knit with the shmancy stuff, I’d maybe make a sweater a year. So please, don’t go on and on about your fairy yarns like it’s attainable for everyone, don’t shame people who use low priced acrylic, don’t scoff at big name craft stores; I’m just as much of a knitter with my $7 value skein as you are with your $39 ancient spider silk. And that’s not to say you should feel guilty for being able to afford it, go you, you deserve it, but be cool about it, don’t be a douche #dontbealluncool 👍🏻 OK I’ll step off my soapbox now to start on my sweater that cost me $13 (and you better believe I used coupons 🕺🏻)

Another fun ten stitch pattern, this one with a modification I added to help me keep track. Good scrap yarn project and another good pattern for variegated yarns (as shown by the five already incorporated) and good for binge watching your favorite shows!

This is a super easy eight row repeat. Knit with two cake yarns of similar color, it creates a really lovely effect as it moves through the colors.
@bigrxputxtion it’s one I came up with off the top of my head. Nothing too fancy and super easy to memorize.
