as someone who loves the 'a song of ice and fire' series and all the books in that world however I have long since given up on the HBO series' to be faithful adaptations. personally I watch akotsk and hotd as independent pieces that fall in the same off-shoot asoiaf world D and D created as much as the ending of got was terrible they've already ventured so far from the high fantasy that is the main asoiaf series that I just accept that the screen adaptions are different at this point. especially hotd they have once again gone so far off of the source material I just enjoy and criticize it on its own merits. I continue to watch it because I enjoy enough of it to continue (unlike how I left the main got series behind after the first episode of 7). I honestly think that's the only way to watch and genuinely engage in these adaptions at this point unless you are rage watching in which cause i'd advise against as that's incredibly unhealthy for you and you're wasting your time on something you don't get some form of joy or fulfillment out of.
