peru show detail breakdown:
this'll kinda act as a notes page for my own good and for those interested. this is simply what i notice and what i personally make of it so apologies if i end up being wrong.
the big theories: sylvia and the clerk are helping gerard plan an escape from the inside, the peru show is a time before long live, the clerk is many different people.
-first and foremost, i'm a big fan of the theory claiming that the peru show was set on a timeline before the first leg shows. keep this in mind when reading.
-the clerk is a man of many faces and is working with gerard to plan their escape
-marianne and the secretary may be the same person, as marianne is not found during this show and the secretary is not found during the shows from the first leg (i believe). they also happen to look strikingly similar. in the promo you see the secretary with a guide dog and in the first leg shows, we see marianne needs help getting around since she's blind.
-sylvia is also helping TBP escape?
-sylvia may be a witch? idk how much i really believe this one but during her verse of mama, gerard says "this is the part of the show where we do magic," and from the first leg, we know that some sort of magic is at play because when marianne sang, she could see "everything". gerard claims that sylvia is their magic assistant and that she assists in all "magic spells". we then are told we're gonna make her disappear.
-also during this, gerard says "with the powers vested in me by the great guizot"... francois guizot was a french politician who was known for expanding public education and his leadership of the doctrinaires. his work with the doctrinaires lead to the fight for old monarchies to work with the new ideas of the french revolution and balancing freedom with power
-at the end of mama, sylvia takes the dagger from gerard possibly meaning that she's helping them from the inside of the system. obviously we don't see sylvia herself disappear but with the handing over of the dagger, i now interpret "making her disappear" as a metaphor for making the dictatorship disappear since she definitely has some role in it.
-pierrot may be the clerk's dad? i think this to be true because of the letter that's read on stage in a father's voice reading "sadly, there's nothing I can do for you, all my love, dad". and the fact that the clerk holds a bear dressed as pierrot as he dies makes me believe that may have been his father who was sent away to "gubrick".
-with the theory of the peru show being set before any of the first leg shows, pierrot in the first leg of the tour may actually be the clerk dressed as pierrot to disguise himself to help TBP escape
-during mama, gerard used to say the "dagger" verse was a secret the gentleman told him in prison. in peru, before the verse, he says an old friend told him the story. he says this friend told him he liked his shoes to which he replied "you don't got any fuckin shoes at all!" this almost makes me wanna think the gentleman and the patient are the same person
-before sleep, we see the clerk and gerard drawing an outline of gerard's body just like in the first leg shows. we also see them play maybe tic tac toe and hopscotch on the outline. I interpreted this as them passing time together in prison and disguising the fact that they're planning an escape. me thinks that the tic tac toe marks represent gerard getting stabbed and the hopscotch represents pierrot tossing him around on stage.
-during sleep, the screens show the clerk, the man from the promo with the flower and the red tie (still not entirely sure who he is), a woman who looks like the secretary/mariannne without sunglasses, and another man who i can't quite place. gerard also appears on the screen at some point which makes sense if they're all working together. but when gerard does appear on screen, the clerks original image turns into how he's presented at this particular show, in almost a prison outfit. there's also an image of an ear, a recording device, and an eyeball which i think means these characters have inside ears that they are using to assist the black parade. there's also a few screens that show different angles of a brain but that really just confirms the brainwashing theory from the first leg a little more. BUT TOWARDS THE END. SOMETHING CAUGHT MY EYE. I BLIEVE WE SEE THE DICTATOR BEING BURNED. WE ALSO SEE THE CLERK GETTING BRAIN SURGERY FROM THE GUY FROM THE MAIN SCREEN. i'm gonna make a separate post about sleep with pictures but that's worth mentioning. there's so much.
-BUT THEN, the clerk dies on the hospital bed also making me believe he is the same person as the patient, also noted with how him and gerard interact with each other during the "dagger" verse
-it also adds up in my mind because of the fact that during cancer, gerard danced around with the gentleman. but in the first leg of the tour, there was a laugh track played during cancer leading me to believe that there's a plan of faking one's death possibly set in place.
-I'm still iffy on where the gentleman comes in to play because last night he had a lot of lore revealed. he is, or was, a real person with his own castle of sorts. I know some people believe he is the man from the promo with the red flower and red tie but i have yet to do my own digging on that connection.
