I call these Floppy Types :) It's a collection of 16 floppy discs, coated with a UV sensitive solution. I placed them in a modified film holder and photographed people and fruit still lifes with a large format view camera. 

I was originally inspired by Dan Estabrook at SPESE last October. I was lucky to be able to assist him in a salt printing workshop and later that evening he gave a keynote lecture about his work and about how he found it odd that we get so nostalgic about technology. 

The end result was these 16 pieces and while technology still plays a heavy influence in my theme, it has involved into a conversation about how short life really is. Short enough that we can watch a piece of fruit grow and die in a matter of days. Or in the most unfortunate circumstances, we see the birth, growth, and death of a person with our own eyes. You could even say it was short enough to fit on a little floppy disc.
