Stan Edgar not only being alive but working to rebuild Vought is the bleakest, most cynical ending Kripke could have made this side of “Homelander kills all the boys and lives immortally ever after”. And The Boys just deciding they’ve had enough fun and going back to normal lives while that’s still going on is supposed to be a commentary on current society’s complacency I guess? I’m so glad I have alternative endings in fics.

The real difference between Zanka and Jabber is how much effort is being put into their environments by their respective organizations. Zanka routinely gets little tasks and enrichment activities tossed at him throughout the day in order to keep him from Killing, meanwhile over at Raiders HQ they just let Jabber out every night to decimate the local bird population.
