I love how & Juliet is mainly "group of people get thrown into an alternate universe and they eventually witness the ultimate tug of war game of fate" and then there's the Sonaverse. There's the ability to travel between the play and the real world which seems normal at first but then you dive deeper and you get The Fae forest, The Mermaid's Meer, Hermia's pirate lore, Verona's lore, Actually everyone's lore, Elysoria and probably a few other things.

Some of what I have to say on Iris is in the post where I drew her, also linked in the chapter notes, but to reiterate, she is a jengu, a Cameroonian water spirit. It is said that miengu (the plural of jengu) can heal illnesses and bring good fortune, and they’re typically described as beautiful women with long hair and a gap-toothed smile. Their tails reflect those of local fish species, so Iris’s tail is that of a purple wrasse!
Juno is a traditional European siren, the kind you hear about in movies or books that involve them. Not much to say on that front
Ceres is a ningyo, a fish-based yokai from Japanese folklore! Ningyo are typically depicted as being much more fish than human, as Mars describes, and are said to be mute, which is why Ceres uses a form of sign language! Unlike most mermaids, ningyo are actually regarded as omens of bad luck if you should catch one.
Ariel, our mischievous friend of Puck, is a merrow, as stated in the chapter. Merrows come from Irish folklore, and are actually a type of fae rather than a full-fledged merfolk. They tend towards mischief, as is common with the fae, but what sets them apart is their red hats, which is what allows them to breathe and live underwater. The power of these caps doesn’t only work for merrows, if Ariel were to let Verona borrow the cap it would work on him too!
