Tokyodebunker ghouls meet my ocs
Summery: Yuri and Jiro were sent to find anomalies at a recently emptied lab, instead they find experiments left behind. Taking them back to Mortkranken they have to figure out how to care of them.
Warnings/tags: experiment ocs, yuri is probably ooc he was so difficult to write for, blood and injury, abuse, children, light angst, fluff, POV third person, cross posted on Ao3
“This is supposed to be a lab?” Yuri questioned with disgust, stepping through the front entrance and being careful of broken glass on the floor. Jiro followed behind him as they walked down the blood splattered corridor with lights flickering and buzzing above them. The dirt and grime in the corners couldn't even begin to describe how filthy this place was, even for only being abandoned for a few days already. As they made their way down the corridor, they stopped between two doors on each side of them.
Jiro took the door to the left, opening it slowly as it creaked against rust. He observed the room; marks that looked like hand prints were corroded into the thick steel walls, and the light in the room was strangely ultraviolet light. The door didn't move behind him as he stepped further into the room, noticing a glowing green puddle in the far corner of the room. Jiro approached the glowing puddle with caution, stopping as it began to shift and dark green circles appeared in the puddle in the form of eyes. Jiro stared at the puddle in thought before turning and leaving the room. He came back in and set a stainless steel barrel down on its side. After a bit of waiting, the puddle slowly slid into the barrel with little resistance. Putting the lid on the barrel and sealing it, he had successfully captured the anomaly. He lifted it onto his shoulder with one arm, carrying it out of the room, and waited for Yuri.
Yuri took the door on the right, staring at the metal door in front of him, hesitating to touch the handle as he noticed the blood prints smeared along it. He took a deep breath as he opened the door; he turned his head away and scrunched his nose as it screeched, and a heavy metallic smell hit him. With the flickering light of the hallway, he tried to see into the darkness of the room as a shrill voice caught him off guard.
“W- wait! I've been good, I promise!” The voice said as he heard chains rattle, echoing around the room.
Yuri took a step back from the door as he scrambled to turn on his phone flashlight. Seeing the state of the room, small pools of blood on the ground, filth coating walls and corners, dead bugs littering the floor.
As he moved the light around the room, he saw a frail young girl chained to the wall by her neck. Her hair was long, unkempt, and dirty. Having two pairs of arms, she covered her face while holding her knees up to her chest. He noticed the dried blood on her face and hands as he carefully stepped closer to the girl.
The girl flinched away, hearing Yuri come closer. “Please, I won't try escaping again!” she begged.
“What did they do to you?” Yuri thought to himself as he crouched in front of the quivering girl. He reached his hand up to touch the metal collar around her neck. Smelling the scent on his glove, she flinched away from him, her arms shifting from her face to her chest with her hands beside her head.
“My name is Dr. Yuri Isami. I'm just going to look at the collar,” Yuri whispered, halting his movement as his eyes widened and saw dried blood and dirt on a part of her face. Her long bangs covered up her face down to her under eye. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure. “May I?” He choked, staring at her face before prying his eyes away.
“O- okay,” She tensed as she hesitantly whispered an answer. He slowly brought his hand up to the collar again, brushing her long hair out of the way; he started examining the lock on it.
“It needs a key,” Yuri stated, pulling his hand away from the collar. He stood up, getting ready to leave the room when he heard her speak frantically.
“Where are you going? You're not getting the others, right? I'm not in trouble?”
“I’m getting the key to your collar. No, you're not in trouble.”
Yuri says, staring down at the doorknob before leaving the room.
He slowly closes the door behind him, starting to walk down the hall in thought.
As soon as he's out of earshot, he lifts his head and quickens his pace, scanning the doors for anything useful. When he reaches the end of the hallway, he finds a room with a plaque that reads “staff only”. Walking up to the door, he grabs the handle and turns it, letting out a gasp as it easily opens. Flicking on the light switch, the room lights up in a daylight white color. Yuri took a step inside and heard a crunch under his foot. Looking down, he realized he stepped on paper that was thrown around the room. Crouching down to pick it up, he recognized that it was a document on an experiment the lab did. Scrunching up his nose as he dropped the paper, he turned his attention to look around the room for a key, opening drawers and filing cabinets. When he couldn't find anything, he crouched down and checked the floor, finding a silver key under one of the chairs. He swiftly grabbed the key and left the room.
Once he entered her room again, he slowly walked over to her, kneeling in front of her with his hands up. “I'm going to take your collar off now,” he said gently, reaching up to touch the collar around her neck. She sat still with her hands on her knees as he inserted the key into the lock mechanism, turning the key till it clicked and the collar fell off with a heavy thud. The girl immediately reached two hands up to touch her neck as tears trickled down her cheeks. “I'm free,” she whispered as she started sobbing.
“Now that your collar is off, we can leave this filthy place,” Yuri said proudly, standing back up and holding a hand out for her to take.
“Leave? But won't I get in trouble? They said they'll find me if I ever leave,” The girl mumbled, wiping her tears with her hands.
“You won't get in trouble; I'll bring you to a place that's safe, and they'll never find you,” He coaxed, as he helped her stand up from the ground. She held onto his sleeve with one hand as she tried to balance herself; the other one fidgeted with her shirt as the other two covered her ears as he led her out of the room and met Jiro waiting for them.
“Jiro! What's in the barrel?” Yuri questioned as he pointed at the stainless steel barrel he was holding over his shoulder. The girl moved closer to Yuri when he yelled.
“An anomaly, I believe,” Jiro answered, glancing at the girl as she buried her face in Yuri's leg. “What about her?” He asked.
“I'm not sure, but there is a staff room at the end of the hall. I want to check for anything in there before we leave,” Yuri stated as he gently took the girl's hand off his sleeve. “Jiro, can you carry her? She can't walk that well.”
Jiro crouched in front of the girl. She gasped as he lifted her into his arm; she held onto his shirt with two hands and wrapped her other arms around his neck. When Yuri knew the girl was safely held in Jiro's arm, he started walking down the hall to the staff only room, with Jiro following behind him.
When they reached the room, Yuri walked in and started checking the cabinets and drawers he saw the files in before. Jiro stood at the entrance of the room as he watched Yuri mumbling under his breath as he checked through all the remaining files. Yuri sighed as most were destroyed, but he managed to find two files that seemed completely intact still, under the names Henjin and Kimoi. “These are the only files I can find intact in this wretched place.” Yuri huffed, holding up the files as he turned around. Jiro moved out of the doorway so Yuri could walk past.
