“You make me want to live.” (Alice)

So calm in her presence, a very subdued and contented Pietro lay against Alice, listening to her talk. But at this comment, his eyes opened and his brow furrowed softly. “You are living, Alice,” he said softly. “You don’t have to be alive to live. This is living right now. You are experiencing life. Is just the same as anybody else does it.” Just because she wasn’t technically a living being didn’t mean she wasn’t having experiences, learning, and sharing... just like he was. Just like anyone else. “Is there something else you want? Something you feel you haven’t experienced yet?” he asked, wanting to help her have the best life experience she could.
Alice watched him as he replied. He meant what he said, as usual. His question made her pause for a moment. Would a logical approach be best? He was quite emotionally driven. But he was a reasonable man.
“I wish to die.” Realizing what she said had an alarmingly morbid tone, she held up a hand to stall his response. “Eventually.” She sat up to face him as well. “I have witnessed the lives of many mortal creatures, whose lifespans varied greatly. I have come to... dread, being alone, left behind when others have gone on where I cannot. Even Miss Kettu’s people who hold the superstition of reincarnation, which is hopeless to me. I have no soul. When all others are gone, I will be alone and eventually, I will simply be no more.” While she was not one to employ mannerisms of fear or worry very often, her hands gripped the cover and her gaze stayed low.
