this is an example of a symbiotic relationship
Follow to see the same picture of Garnet everyday
I would like exactly thirteen and a half snom. Not in a 'cut it in half' way but in a 'make it approximately half a snom less without implied snom abuse' way
its so awkward when people ask me why i dropped out and i have to be like "inadequate disability support" bc no one wants to hear this. they're always like i thought they had to provide that though isn't it the law? girl you might want to sit down i have some bad news about the litigation-based enforcement of the americans with disabilities act
then if i do say that theyre like, couldnt you sue? well theoretically maybe but not without spending more money than i have and putting myself through absolute hell. so no. no i can't.
it’s just this
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep really did all that. Imagine living in a place called the Land of Departure for as long as you can remember. You’re not allowed to leave, by the way. Okay, maybe you can leave, but ONLY if the adults think you’re Capable and Reliable and Good enough. You can try to leave anyway, but your surrogate father’s going to kill you when you get back. So have fun either 1) being constantly monitored by the Good One who cannot possibly comprehend what it is like to be rejected so completely from one’s home and family OR 2) being the Good One and having to keep appeasing authority while also making sure your friends are Good and Safe enough for your collective surrogate father to consider not killing them (which is probably impossible). Oh, and if you somehow end up successfully killing your surrogate father, you just get possessed. The killing helps cause the possession in some way. I think.
Oh! And you get to beat up Peter Pan. That’s it. That’s the game.
I need to replay bbs to further solidify this, but man the parentification of Aqua by Eraqus and by extension the writers sure does get me sometimes, it's patronizing to Terra and Ven to be sure but also serves to further alienate her from them while she's trying to appease Eraqus. I think it could've been handled well but it was unfortunately a manifestation of the writers' casual sexism rather than an attempt at saying anything about the sentiments and unexamined assumptions that lead to situations like that. Kh has a problem with that in general, but I think bbs is the most blatant about it largely because Aqua is the first female protag that's actually playable in the main story mode rather than a side quest sort of deal like Xion and Larxene in Days. You're in the driver's seat this time and MAN the view ain't so great.
Sure, you can play Terra, Aqua, and Ven's stories in any order, but the game not so subtley nudges you to play Aqua's last, and that shows in how her narrative fits with Terra's and Ven's. She doesn't even get a nemesis like Terra got Xehanort and Ven got Vanitas, for her final battle they just sort of threw Braig at her. She was so clearly an afterthought a lot of the time and it's woven so intimately into the game, it's kinda wild when you start really tearing it apart. Which makes sense since kh is one of those series that suffers from long term forgets women exist syndrome.

extremely funny when students get really into some harmless "vintage" activity to the point of absurdity. right now it's hacky sack, which is not something i ever thought i would see my students playing en masse. and yet here they are organizing competitive hacky sack teams. taking over any space they can to kick a hacky sack around. i had to chase a group to morning assembly today because they were busy playing hacky sack. just saw one of my students sending an email that said "stop adding randos to our team they're the worst sackers." 2026 year of the hacky sack ig
apparently stores are running out of hacky sacks. their voracity for hacky sack is outpacing the supply chain. beautiful hacky sack world
I have never, and will never, use "ofc" to mean "of fucking course". It literally stands for OF Course...
I know myself well enough to know I would not be very good at fanbiding and that would mainly frustrate me, so while I love fan binding and admire those who do it, I've never dabbled.
I have never regretted that decision more than I did waking up from the dream I recently had, where I excitedly bought a rare copy of the novel that Goncharov (1973) was based on, opened it up, and found that it was a hollowed out "book safe" for keeping valuables in.
@copperbadge were you looking for the Goncharov novel ?
I tracked down a copy of this invaluable classic and somehow got my hands on a near pristine copy secondhand from the 4th printing. It’s lost the dustjacket, alas, but that means I got it for like £5 and not the £4200 a first edition printing in fine condition goes for.
(Who’s the author? *looks at smudge on spine* uhhhh Mkkhill Montanann)
It looks right at home in my bookcase 🥰
Under the cut: a look inside at what the book holds:
OMG HAHAHA AMAZING! What a find! Truly a vintage treasure. I am dying, it looks fantastic.
Ok everyone let’s think beautiful thoughts about masculine women today.

There is a quality of books (or movies or shows) that I can best describe as “stickiness,” which is separate from being good or even enjoyable: a sticky book is one I just keep thinking about. Sometimes it’s because a book is very good (e.g. The Locked Tomb), and sometimes it’s because a book is very bad (e.g. ACOTAR), but there are also very good and very bad books that are slippery, such that when I’m done reading them they slip from my thoughts like water from a hydrophobic surface.
