The Injustice Society

Following his initial defeat at the hands of the Justice Society, the magical villain known as The Wizard brought together a collection of other foes who had themselves been bested by the heroes that made up the Society.  These cads agreed to put aside their individual goals of conquest and work together, pooling their resources to take on the Justice Society and vanquish their enemies once and for all.  

The original team was composed of The Wizard, along with Vandal Savage, Brainwave, The Gambler, Per Degaton and The Thinker.  Working in concert, these villains were nearly able to succeed in defeating the Justice Society, but were undone by the timely intervention of Green Lantern as well as a group of child-aged fans of the society known as The Junior Justice Society.  

Undone, the villains went their separate ways, but The Wizard would soon form a second iteration of the team.  This new squad was made up of the Fiddler, The Harlequin, Icicle, The Huntress and Sportsmaster.  The villains embarked on a madcap scheme involving inflecting the Justice Society with amnesia and then stealing America’s national monuments.  Once more the heroes managed to prevail and the Injustice Society were defeated.

New version of the team would arise time and again to once more bedevil the Justice Society.  Subsequent iterations saw the inclusion of various new member; such as The Shade, Ragdoll, Psycho-Pirate, Gentleman Ghost, The Dummy, Matter Master and Solomon Grundy.  

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, The Wizard formed yet another iteration of the society, this one named 'Injustice Unlimited.'  This new team included the sons and daughters of several foes of the Justice Society; such as Icicle Junior (the son of the first Icicle), Artemis (the daughter of Tigress and the Sportscaster) and Hazard (the daughter if the Gambler).  This new, younger team faced off against Infinity Incorporated (a heroic team primarily composed of the children of the Justice Society). Injustice Unlimited faired no better than their predecessors and they too was defeated by the heroes of Infinity Inc.

Some time later, after the apparent death of The Wizard, a new iteration of the Injustice Society was founded and led by the inter-dimensional menace known as Johnny Sorrow.  Sorrow’s team was composed of Black Adam, GeoMancer, Artemis, Icicle Jr., The Killer Wasp, Count Vertigo and Shiv.

Sorrow's team took on the newly reformed Justice Society in an effort to release a demonic being known as the King of Tears.  Although the battle was hard-fought, the Justice Society proved victorious and Johnny Sorrow was seemingly destroyed.  The remnants of his squad, reinforced with the villains known as The Rival and Blackbriar Thorn, would later returned with a plot to kidnap Stargirl; yet they were once more soundly defeated.  

The most recent iteration of the Injustice Society was formed by Scandal Savage.  This newest iteration of the society consisted of Savage herself along with Solomon Grundy, Shadow Thief, The Fog, Wotan, Doctor Elemental, The Gentleman Ghost, Lady Eve, the Red Lantern and a recently revived Johnny Sorrow.  

The team enacted a diabolical scheme and were able to defeat the Justice Society.  They then attempted to use sacred relics to open a trans-dimensional portal so to allow demonic entities known as The Nameless One to invade the earthly realm.  Fortunately, Kid Eternity was able to aid the Justice Society and the heroes prevailed thanks to assistance from the ghostly spirits of past Justice Society members who had passed on.  Kid Eternity had used her powers to bring these spirits forth and the combined forces of the Justice Society were able to defeat the villains and send the Nameless Ones back to their home dimension.  

Although its plans were once more soundly thwarted, it is likely only a matter of time before yet another iteration of the Injustice Society rises up to again threaten all that is good and just.  

An adaptation of the Injustice Society features in the television series Stargirl.  Actors Neil Jackson, Christopher James Baker, Neil Hopkins, Joy Osmanski, Hunter Sansone and Stella Smith portraying Icicle, Brainwave, Sportsmaster, Tigress, Icicle Junior and Artemis respectively.

Olive Silverlock and Maps Mizoguchi

Olive Silverlock is the daughter of Sybil Silverlock (the pyrokinetic villainess known as Calamity).   Olive’s mother is a patient as Arkham Asylum and Olive has either been kept in the dark about her mother’s situation or has psychologically repressed the memory because it was too painful.   Olive has inherited the same fire and heat controlling powers as possessed by her mother and is still in the process of understanding and being able to properly use these abilities.  She is a student at the Gotham Academy preparatory school where she has formed a detective club with her fellow students.  The school has many, many secrets and Olive and her club have endeavored on solving as many of these mysteries as they can.   

Olive’s best friend is Mia 'Maps' Mizoguchi, a fellow student at the preparatory school. Maps earned her nickname from her near obsessive hobby of cartography.  She loves maps, studying them, collecting them discovering new and esoteric types of maps.  She has something of a photographic memory for cartography, which has come in quite handy in her adventures alongside Olive and their detective club. 

Maps is additionally an accomplished lock-pick, learning the skill from her friend Cole.  She has also received a batarang from Robin (Damian Wayne) and has been shown to have a pretty good knack for it.  She and Damian have shared adventures together and, though she is not an ‘official’ Robin, she had enjoyed cosplaying the role.

Hawk & Dove

The pair of heroes known as Hawk and Dove are earthly avatars of the mystical Lords of Chaos and Order.  These two metaphysical beings are named T’Charr the Lord of Order and Terataya the Lord of Chaos.  Although these lords have been eternal enemies the pair came to fall very much in love and, over time have opted to work in conjunction with one another.

The Lords offered to provide their powers to twin brothers Hank and Don Hall when their politician father was at risk of being assassinated.  The angry and decisive Hank took on the powers of T’Charr whereas his more gentle and tentative bother, Don, took on the powers of Terataya.  Both were imbued with enhanced strength, speed and dexterity as well as a type of extrasensory perception that enabled them to sense danger.  Hank was additionally bestowed a enhanced durability and a accelerated healing while Don was provided limited flight and the ability to emit a blinding flash of light.  

Hank had often been conservative and combative in his beliefs whereas Don was much more liberal and peace loving.  As such they chose the superhero codenames of Hawk and Dove respectively.  The pair became vigilante crimefighters and later joined an iteration of the Teen Titans.  

Don perished during the Crisis on Multiple Earths event where upon the powers of Terataya were transferred to a young woman named Dawn Granger.  Hank became increasingly unstable and violent without his brother’ calming influence, yet he was able to feel more stable once he met Dawn and the team of Hawk and Dove was reunited.  

Being a conduit for a Lord of Chaos gradually had a corrupting influence on Hank, ultimately causing him to become the super villain known as Extant.  Extant murdered Dawn, but it was later revealed that her death was a ruse created by the evil wizard Mordru as part of a plan to undermine the Lords of Order and Chaos.  The now resurrected Dawn later teamed up with her sister Holly as the two became the new Hawk and Dove.  Hank was resurrected in the rebooted DC Continuity and he and Dawn returned to action as the heroes Hawk and Dove.

The Parasite

Two super villains have been known as The Parasite, possessing similar parasitic power sets.  The first was a man named Raymond Jensen who worked at a research facility where Superman had stored hazardous materials he had collected from outer space.  Seeking to pilfer the company's payroll, Jensen opened a container and was accidentally exposed to the cosmic substances.  

The mutagenic properties of this substance transformed Jensen into a purple-skinned parasitic being overwhelmed by an insatiable hunger.  His touch allowed him to feed on the energies of any living creature.  Furthermore, feeding in this fashion enabled him to temporarily absorb their physical and mental properties. This included Superman, from whom Jensen was able to gain superhuman strength and flight. Renaming himself 'The Parasite,' the villain would have numerous confrontations with The Man of Steel.

Jenson was later killed by the fellow villain Terra-Man.  Some time thereafter, the evil Darkseid arranged for a new Parasite to be formed by recreating the variables that brought about the first.  This time it was a custodian named Rudy Jones who was exposed to the cosmic mutagens so to become the new Parasite.  Along with battles against Firestorm, Superman and Supergirl, The Parasite has teamed up with fellow villains as part of The Superman Revenge Squad, The Legion of Doom and The Secret Society of Super Villains.

Actors  Brendan Fletcher, William Mapother, Sean Ashmore and Anthony Konechny have each portrayed live action versions of The Parasite in DC television projects; while actors Brion James, Jake Green, William Baldwin, Michael Gough and Brett Dalton have voiced the villain in animation.

Commissioner Gordon 

James W. Gordon served in the United States Marine Corps prior to becoming a police officer.  After several years with the Chicago Police Department, Lieutenant Gordon was transferred to Gotham City.  This was during a time in which the Gotham Police Department was notoriously corrupt with significant ties to organized crime.  Gordon took it on himself to try to straighten out the department and rid it of its corruption.  

Around the same time that Gordon was transferred to Gotham, Batman was getting started in his career as a masked vigilante.  Circumstances led to an alliance between the two and Gordon’s ability to rely on Batman greatly helped him in rooting out the corruption at the GCPD.  Unfortunately Gordon’s tireless dedication to the job ultimately cost him his marriage to his wife Barbara Kean, who returned to Chicago with their son, James Jr.  

Following the death of his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon adopted his niece, Barbara (who would later go on to become the hero known as Batgirl).  Gordon quickly matriculated to the position of Police Commissioner and continued to work closely with Batman in fighting crime in the city.  Batman was formerly deputized as an operative of the department and the fabled Bat-Signal was installed atop police headquarters.  

Versions of Jim Gordon have featured in numerous movie serials, television shows and feature films, portrayed by actors Neil Hamilton, Lyle Talbot, Pat Hingle, Gary Oldman, Ben McKenzie, J. K. Simmons and Jeffrey Wright. While actors Bob Hastings, Bryan Cranston, Ted Knight  Mitch Pileggi, Danny Dark, Jonathan Banks, Kurtwood Smith, Reid Scott, Héctor Elizondo, Christopher Meloni and John DiMaggio have each voiced the character in various animated and video game projects.
