The MMIWG inquiry is underway in Vancouver, considered the birthplace of a national movement. But it almost didn’t happen. Remember when Harper steadfastly believed an Inquiry was unnecessary stating “We should not view this as sociological phenomenon, we should view this as crime” Over a thousand missing or murdered indigenous women in Canada. In 2014 APTN Investigates took a look at Harper’s roadblocks through the eyes of these “tough old guys” They combed the bush in a vast remote area in Northern BC for over a year.
