The below may come across both as amusing and shocking.  Cyber criminals are desperately trying to find ways to attack organizations like ours.  Below is the most recent example of creative measures where they are trying to get you to plug into your computer a USB device that will attack your computer.

A cyber-criminal group known as FIN7 has been sending packages to employees of various organizations since November 2021. The packages contain a fraudulent “Thank You” letter, counterfeit $500 Amazon gift card, and a USB device. The letter instructs the receiver to use the Amazon gift card on any of the goods listed on the enclosed USB. When plugged into a computer system, the USB device automatically injects a series of keystrokes, which will automatically download and execute malware or ransomware to compromise the user’s computer, and the network that computer connects to.

Please be wary of any unexpected packages like these received at work or at home, and discard especially when directed to plug something into your computer.

Many places are removing masking requirements. And I’m here to ask, if you are young and able-bodied, please keep wearing a mask anyways. We’ve known for two years that masks protect others more than they protect yourself, and that masks work when most people are wearing them. If only at-risk individuals are masking, they’re more at risk.
