Breonna Taylor was not sleep when she was shot: true, she was awoken by the battering ram used to crash her door in at 1am.

Police didn't shoot first: also true. Kenneth shot an officer in the leg when they entered and, naturally, because they're all scared incompetent knobs, they responded in a hail of bullets, eight of which entered Breonna.

The cops claim to have knocked and announced themselves. This is a lie. No neighbors heard them announce themselves. Furthermore, they obtained a no-knock warrant specifically for the sole purpose of carrying out a drug raid by catching a drug dealer off guard and forcibly entering without warning (such as a knock and announcement). They wanted that specific warrant so much they misrepresented evidence to a judge to get it. So they did all that and got a warrant saying they did not have to knock or announce themselves and then just went on ahead and did it anyway? Cause they're just so polite?

They were also in civilian clothing and either not wearing body cams or had them turned off. So I'm not even sure how their word was just taken on all that.

They have indicted ONE cop for something that had nothing to do with her murder, it was for endangering the lives of OTHER residents by opening fire inside of an apartment complex.

A reminder that the person they were looking for, Breonna's ex-boyfriend, was already in custody at the time they murdered her.

A reminder that the mail investigator or whoever they claimed to get a tip from to get the warrant said they lied.

A reminder that the cops submitted an almost blank report with blatant lies, including that Breonna was not injured.

A reminder the prosecution tried to get Breonna's ex-boyfriend to implicate her in his crimes in April, after they had killed her.

A reminder that because of Breonna's case, no-knock warrants are no longer allowed in Louisville (but they knocked right?)

Hear me out but those stupid gym motivation/Just Girl Things/ Life Inspiration/ Home workout photos that usually have generic pretty, stylish white women? They’re bad for black women’s image and are a huge over site in terms of representation due to our exclusion from them.

I’m calling this aspect of our erasure Subliminal Desirability. 

Subliminal Desirability

Subliminal desirability is the phenomenon where flashing the same kind of attractive women over and over again, whom look the same but are in fact different women increases the desirability of that face, phenotype and skin tone. This happens in photos, music videos, magazines, TV shows, memes and online videos. The main feature subliminal desirability is that nothing malicious is said/implied by the post itself but the pattern of the posts become a problem.

I’m only talking about these fitness pictures today. I’d like to do a deep dive into this about other media later. 

This is how it would work without it be malicious but still detrimental. If you’ve only seen white women and non-black women being praised, and shown off for being fit, lean and health conscious but you never see or hear about black women in these conversations you won’t automatically think of black women as health conscious, lean or fit. If you look up “Fitness inspiration women,” “Body goals,” “weight loss,” “workout,” “Fitness goals,” “women abs,” “slim waist,” or “Slim thick goals” on Pinterest, tumblr, google, youtube you’ll see exactly what I mean. 

It’s pages upon pages upon pages of white women and non black women with home workouts, youtube channels, and motivational quotes. In this it implants the idea that all of these races of women try to look like this or that they do in fact look like this. They are being shown as healthy, curvy, determined, sexy, and thus deserving of luxury. 

Our exclusion is a form of re-enforcing stereotyping.

When you see NO black women in these it implicitly adds to the idea that black women are lazy, fat, obese, undeserving and unattractive and don’t try to be considered attractive. (Part of archetypical femininity is women constantly self improving and keeping oneself up for the sake of themselves.)

EX: If you never see black women jogging and only see our actual representation that usually features overweight black women you begin to believe all black women are fat and lazy.

Another one:

Youtube doesn’t push black women workout videos, nor fitness journey’s as hard as they do white, asian and racial ambiguous women’s videos. If I click on one lose 5kg video from a Korean youtuber I get 20 more in my recommendations. All different women, different accounts, different diets. Add this weight loss content with their actual Kpop, Kdrama, and Kbeauty representation and it would seem asian women are obsessed with being Hot and Skinny.

I’m gonna have Obsidian-Media post the posts like these I made (about 200-400)  for black women and I am hoping all Obsidian’s followers will share these pictures around with tags that reach a general search so that black women can not be other-ed in these searches.

Never stop improving-physically (gym, procedures, surgery) mentally (school, tutors, learning languages, reading), emotionally (reading, therapy, medication), and financially (paying down debt, investments, real estate, savings, stocks, bonds, etc)

A stingy men are just as bad as broke men.

Closed mouths don’t get fed.

You’re single until married.
