Heavily implied that he will get his nen back

Set up potential storyline between Gon and Gyro (Togashi may have scrapped this idea but still)

Unresolved tensions with Killua

Killua:

The entity possessing Alluka is confirmed to be the Ai calamity, which automatically ties him to the Dark Continent

Unresolved tensions with his family; Kalluto is looking for him; his family hasn't given up on hunting down Alluka; and the fact that Kalluto and (allegedly) Illumi are a part of the Phantom Troupe also technically links him to the PT and the DC

Still hasn't found out about Gotoh's death. This links him to Hisoka and may serve as a parallel to Gon's experience with Kite's death

And obviously, unresolved tensions with Gon

These are just off the top of my head btw, so why on earth would Togashi just leave them? And guess what? They are now involved in a storyline nobody even saw coming: Protecting Woble. So who knows what else Togashi could rope them into?

Also, notice how most of these deniers of Killua and Gon's comeback happen to be anti-killugon dudebros? Sounds to me like they are scared of what their relationship could bloom into if they reunite.

Suck on that.

I love answering this question because everything about them is so fun to ship for me (my top reason is their very charming personality dynamic hehe), but on the topic of Kurapika’s disinterest in romance… in a way, that’s honestly part of the appeal for me. (hear me out!)

I don’t think Kurapika expects to ever be in a relationship, or feels that he would even “deserve” one. He is so accustomed to loneliness, so fraught with grief and trauma, so occupied with his work, and so emotionally isolated. He carries infinite, all-consuming sadness deep within him, but that horrible despair has never quelled his love for other people; that care for others is present at his core. So in a future where he’s doing much better, with a soft place to land, I don’t think he wants to be all alone. I think eventually, he could come to want and love another person in that way… if they were very very very special. Very very very patient, gentle, and kind, truly incapable of even dreaming of hurting him.

So it’s the fact that Leorio is written to be the embodiment of selflessness and human goodness, that this regular guy has the softest, kindest heart in all of York New City. The fact that Kurapika is so damn precious to him, that all attempts to isolate and push him away never hurt or deterred Leorio. The fact that throughout the maelstrom of Kurapika’s life, Leorio is someone whose mere presence can put him at ease. Leorio is the one person he lets take care of him, nurse him back to health, watch and protect him as he sleeps. It’s not someone with strength or power that makes Kurapika feel safe, it’s care and kindness. It’s a very touching picture to me, this whole arc of loneliness to companionship, and if there were a love story for Kurapika that I would believe, it would be with the man that embodies love itself.
