So I adore the butler au's I've seen people come up with, but something I wish I saw more were butler AU's where Abolish is somehow still a vampire hunter. My personal favourite take on the idea is pinkminecraft's, where Scott basically just plucks him from the organization by offering him better benefits and pay lol. I do love takes where Abolish's a thrall, although I can't personally think of a way to combine both vampire hunter and trall seamlessly... But it also made me think a little on how my own iteration of it would be... So we know that the Veylocke's originated at least to some degree from Oakhurst & were in the family business of vampire hunting + were well enough known to be part of a secret organization geared entirely towards that. So, hear me out on this; the Veylocke's were also responsible for Scott being cursed to sleep for 600 years. Maybe not in terms of putting the curse itself on Scott, but involved in getting the witch close enough to do it. Perhaps Abolish's ancestors were themselves vampire hunters who infiltrated Scott's staff, or maybe just some servants tired of being under his thumb and dealing with constant fear of becoming Scott's next meal... either way, after bringing Scott down the Veylocke's continue to pursue vampire hunting as they'd learnt that they have an unusual aptitude for it. But, maybe out of fear of Scott waking back up(after all, many curses can be resolved if someone knows their way around them well enough... a well versed enough witch may be able to undo their work easily, or perhaps just a unknowing town resident... contingency's were a must.) and a forced oath that the servants and their families had to make, the Veylocke's and many of the other servant families are bound to, if he ever awakes again, continue to be in his service. For a while at least, this also included maintaining the crypt and castle... Skip 600 years, and most of the servant families have since met extinction. The Veylocke's are, at least to the organization's knowledge, the only remaining bounded servant family, and even then that's not by much. Having lost Alaric and Reiah, also two of the organizations best vampire hunters due to a mission gone south, the Veylocke's live on only in their young son who has no clue that he's oath bound until he becomes an adult... Being raised by Morcant and growing up continuing the Veylocke's vampire hunting legacy, Abolish goes to Oakhurst with the same base reasoning as he did in canon, but with one key difference. He start's knowing(And being conflicted to say the least about only recently having found out about it) about the fact he's bound by blood oath. A blood oath that he swiftly realizes ties him towards an unusual blue-haired Scotsman, one who could be no other than the vampire his ancestors had risked their life trying to get rid of, and even then only managed to put to sleep.

And he's awake.

I don’t personally plan to leave the vsmp fandom. It’s a near and dear place in my heart, and while due to some personal reasons I’ve been barely engaging in it the past few months, I still even after what happened love this media with all my heart. Unfortunately, many people do plan to, and I can’t blame them. This is a shit situation caused because someone decided to be a shitty person who also happened to be a major force behind making vsmp what we know and love. I have the upmost empathy for those avid(and Marm, though I have never personally engaged in content involving her) actions have affected, as well as towards anyone who’s been a victim of manipulative bad actors.

I understand how massive of a betrayal this feels for many, but know we don’t often get to see the true colours of content creators. They get opportunities to pick and choose which versions of themselves audiences get to see, a luxury that doesn’t apply to most, and even the people who did get to see an unedited, non-preformative(and even then, not entirely) version did not immediately pick up on their sketchy behaviour until much later. Hindsight only makes things apparent because of context, without that context many things wouldn’t be suspicious on their own to flag alarm. Do not blame yourself for not having known, but don’t look at every creator with the expectation that they too would be outed as a horrible person. That view will not truly defend you, just create senseless paranoia and confirmation bias.

This situation has also led to many comfort fics and AU’s I’ve enjoyed being discontinued, put on hold, deleted, orphaned, or etc. Do not blame anyone who decides to cut ties with their works. Though I personally don’t wish to see them deleted and encourage creators to look into alternatives it is the jurisdiction of the creator and only its creator what happens with their works.

Owen. Owen I swear to god. First outsiders and now vampires, you are far too good at these types of characters. DEVASTATING endings :( even c!owen didn’t get dealt that dirty(however much he might have deserved it) though, poor v!owen :( he finally got his choice… he knew where he was going… he just didn’t know it wouldn’t be with him :(
