Of course, what made me latch onto the character was the Ghost in the Machine spin-off comic which showed his unusual reaction to what he went through in the digital world. Flynn embraced the whole User idea. Over in the fanfic, we may get Sam treating the rebuild of The Grid as just another job, or Alan or Lora or Roy getting uploaded…and, for the most part, the User is mostly taking the whole idea of being a virtual deity in stride. Jet’s reaction? Fear and horror. Realizing that all his life, he’s been creating and destroying whole worlds with indifference, having control of a servant race of living software, and getting sick with all the guilt. And Jet was the only User in the whole franchise who has, on-panel, talked about Users having a responsibility to the Programs and being willing to back up his words with his life if need be.
