I don't think we focus enough on Luo Binghe sending Yue Qingyuan Shen Jiu's legs specifically. That man either discovered their history in explicit detail or hit on the most sensitive part of their relationship like a lightning rod. Who's to say Yue Qingyuan even registered what the blood letter said when his Xiao Jiu's legs are broken and he thinks he'll only slow Yue Qingyuan down.

You know, I've seen a lot of fics where Shen Yuan takes young Shen Jiu in, or they are the same age and SY is being super nice and SJ decides to take pity on him until feelings spark. Or a siblings one where SJ is "the mean one" but super overprotective over SY who is the innocent fool.
I have never seen SY not give a crap what "the scum villain" thinks of him. Not one where his troll persona is utilized and still ends with SJ and SY on good terms.
Like, why would he care if the villain hates his guts? Binghe will take care of him in the end anyhow. And SY has a plan to become a useful acquaintance to Binghe with his knowledge of everything PIDW if it comes down to them meeting.
So yeah SY bullies SJ when he is bullying someone else. And SJ actually responds better to that than any flowery words and niceties he will never truly believe or appreciate.
Imagine: both of them are street kids, and SY is actually an adult so he has some idea of ways to survive on his own. And then he sees SJ and YQY being kind of desperate and offhandedly tosses some of his own food to them while making fun of SJ about his lack of basic life skills. SJ hates this guy on the spot.
Or SY and SJ are peak lords in the same generation. SJ throws scathing remarks at everyone and then gets to SY. SY gives as good as he gets. They banter and they don't even know it, they think they're arguing. They are not.
Or SY is reincarnated as a demon and decides to make it his life's goal to annoy the hell out of SJ. Ironically, he succeeds in annoying the hellish parts of SJ out of him. SJ doesn't know who keeps on pranking him but he is going to wring their neck once he finds out. But the person is too cleaver by half and that can be useful to him in the future... He finds all his robes turned pink and decides to go back to his dismemberment plan.
I want to see this completely backfire on SY. He replaces SJ's clothes with women's clothes thinking that SJ is the exact type to take offense to it. He's not. Not only does he gift them to his Jie Jies, but he is very comfortable once convinced to wear them.
MXTX Food Zine 2026: Creator Sign-ups Open!
Hi everyone! Creator sign-ups for the fifth edition of the MXTX food zine are now live at this link, so please make sure to fill out the form and join the zine discord (linked in the sign-up form) by January 15 if you want to join. Recipe sign-ups will open on January 16.
Event info and FAQs can be found here. For future updates, follow this account!
The tentative production schedule is as follows:
January 16: Recipe claims open.
February 4: Recipe claims close. Everyone needs to have picked a dish by this date, but the recipe itself does not need to be finalized until May 5. If you need to change your dish/recipe later, you can do this by editing your row on the claims spreadsheet.
March 10: First check-in.
May 5: Second check-in. Recipes must be tested and submitted by this date.
June 10: Last day for recipe confirmations.
July 5: Final check-in
August 5: All final works due.
August to September: Editing phase. All participants are required to have their work beta read as many times as necessary.
September: Design stage. Anyone with emergency extensions may keep working during this time. Participants can also edit their completed works.
September to October: Design team completes zine. Be ready to check your entries for typos at any point during this time.
October 31: RELEASE DATE

For part two of @hesperious-sands we switch from kites to lanterns! It was almost more kites but I was convinced that lanterns were super cool too. This was probably where the style started embracing the brush strokes in both of them.
