It had been roughly 6 months since chaos had first ensued and it just got worse from there, but Charlie was having the time of her life, aside from one run in with a crazy psycho. She thankfully actually found several solar powered powerbanks from an electronics store she ran into that kept her phone and headphones alive. Spotify somehow never cut her premium plan maybe because no one was there to cancel it anymore, oh well good for her.

Charlie spent her days wandering around streets and city hopping, she used a decent car she found to get around and carry supplies. It was basically her home on wheels, the place she felt safest when she couldn't find a house that wasn't crashed to spend some nights in. It held pieces of every city she had been to and stayed in.

She also avoided every human group she encountered, if it's one thing she learned from movies, those things always go to shit after some guy fucks up so she wasn't taking her chances. She also got into parkour, risky on her part yeah but she didn't really care.

Charlie knew the isolation was getting to her when she caught herself reading to a zombie she had sat down beside her in a library. "Fuck why am I even reading and explaining two piece lore to you?!" She stood up, her chair falling to the ground.

Charlie had grown apathetic to the undead, cruel to others view she thinks but they annoyed her to no end with how they just wouldn't fucking bite her already. She spent so many nights up trying to figure out what was so different about her to cayse them to not bite? Does she have some kind of like genetic shit like those movies? She doesn't remember taking anything before this went down so for now to her, it's an unsolved issue.

She shoved the manga volume she was reading and bolted out. "This town is getting boring." She said getting in her car, she checked the car's built in gps and looked around for a town nearby "Yeongdeungpo is the next town over... Might as well go and explore like the true urbex I am" she shrugged and turned the car engine on and started following her gps to the town.

Arriving at the outskirts of Yeongdeungpo she turned her car engine off and went in on foot with her bag in tow and headphones in her ears. She explored how nature had basically taken back most of the buildings and how shit had gone down, graffitied walls saying to run, to hide but one stood out to her "The union runs this town" she muttered, reading it out loud. She looked at her phone checking the time "It's lunch time, let's go mall and house raiding."

She went into an apartment building first weaving through zombies that passed her as if they were still alive. By the 6th apartment she went into she lost hope this shitty apartment had anything in it. Deciding that one last apartment to check and she was going to move on, she turned the know only for it to be locked. 'Must be a person in there, nope, no way, I'm outta here.' she thought bolting away from the door and disappearing as she turned the corner.

What she didn't know was the men residing in the room had witnessed her prescence through the intercom camera. "Did you eee that? There was a chick out there!" Ben exclaims pointing at the screen "Doesn't look like she came with anyone else though maybe she travelled alone?" Beside him, Alex queried peeking from over Ben's shoulder "Someone like her? Her arms would snap like twigs but she looked unscathed and not even a drop of blood was on her clothes." Dean stated placing his hand on his chin. "I'll go after her if you guys want, maybe another group is trying to take over Yeongdeungpo again? We all know how that went down last time." Eunchang spoke up chuckling and started stretching his legs.

"Nah let her go, if she stays here we'll run into her eventually." Wolf said from his position near an open window, taking a drag from his cigarette. "She looked interesting though not going to lie" Jake finally spoke up while reading his two piece manga for the probably upteenth time since things went to hell "I wonder why she looked so clean when all of this is going on."

Charlie walked into a convenience store and walked to the back of the freezer area, she dragged a zombie out of it and told it to stay out as she scavengered for anything to drink or eat "Holy shit is that what i think it is..." She says grabbing the item "OMG ITS A COKE!" She said jumping up and down and squealing. "I thought you baby's went extinct, i love you coke." She smiled cluthing the bottle to her chest. She grabbed one cup of instant noodles, more canned food and some chewy candy and shoved it all into her bag. After finding a few more bottles of coke and shoving all of them into her bag.

By the time she left the store her bag was brimming full and the sun was beggining to set. Must be her lucky day cause she found a solar powered apartment by chance, one of the top floors of some random building she walked into. She kicked the zombies present out and cleaned the place up to make it seem more livable than an total wreck and she layed down on the bed in one of the rooms.

Charlie had no fucking clue what happened. She was on her way home, cheap coffee from the convenience store in hand when the world went to shit. People biting eachother, guts, blood, gore, screaming, panic. But she just watched in shock "What the fuck...?" watching the chaos ensue 'Maybe I can finally fucking die without regrets.' she thought heading to another student who was about to be bitten. She pulled the mangled unalived corpse from her yelling at the girl to run and when she did she look at the zombie infront of her "Why the fuck are you just staring?" She steps forward making the zombie click its teeth together. "Cmon, bite me." She narrows her eyes getting annoyed.

Charlie lived a pretty normal life, her dad worked a stable job, her mom stayed at home, her brothers were menaces and she got good grades, she was an honor student. But despite that she hated her life.

Nobody saw it but her father? He didn't hit with his hands but with his words, threw around the word 'abandonment' and 'disowning' way too easily.

Nobody saw how quick her mother angered, the scars left when she got mad, she even raised her hands at her and her brothers a few times then after a while would guilt trip them saying she was sorry, she was just angry and that it was their fault she had reacted like that.

She didn't have a solid group of friends to rely on either, cons of being a floater friend is that she usually kept to herself, headphones on her ears when nobody needed her company.

She felt pressured to keep up her grades too hearing how studious her father had been and how he got successful, she didn't want to know what would happen if her grades dropped out of normal range so all her life, since kindergarten to now second year highschool, she desperately kept them up.

"COME ON FUCKING BITE ME!" Charlie yelled grabbing the monster by its jaw and moving her arm between its teeth but it just stared, mouth agape because of her arm in it and she gasped "What the..." She tried shoving it up further into its mouth to no avail. "Why don't they want to bite me?"

Charlie walked around town repeating the same thing, walking up to a zombie, prying its mouth open then shoving her arm into its mouth but the results stayed the same, they wouldn't bite her. She thought it was best for her to just wander about and enjoy being excempted to the chaos. She went home to her house with the purpose of picking up a few clothes and things but seeing her house gate and front door open with blood smeered on the windows, just the thought of the sight that would greet her if she dared to step inside made her queasy.

Charlie decided to steal clothes and things she would need from the mall, no one was going to stop her from walking out of a shop with shit she didn't pay for anyways. Dumping her notebooks, pens, and school supplies from her bag leaving only her phone, her 3 headphones (in her defense, one was for physical activities the kind that doesnt fall out if she whips her head too hard, one was for when she needed to partially hear shit and her headphones were for when she disassociates from reality) and her phone.

Deciding to push aside all those cliches of needing battle ready clothes (she wasn't even going to need to fight anyway with her predicament) she chose to wear a cutesy outfit that she was still sure she could easily move around in and she walked to the supermarket.

On her way there she tried again with the zombie suicide plan and failing, she walked into the store with a sigh "Of course this place is ransacked." She started scavenging for what she could find and gathered it onto a counter "Ok so, a lighter, a dropped switch knife, 3 cans of soup and a bag of chips..." She pointed at each as she mentioned and shoved the things in her bag and placed the switch knife into her pocket.

She went around town looking at the hordes of undead feasting on other corpses as she went apartment to apartment and house to house looking for a candidate for her to sleep in tonight.

The perfect apartment was found when the sun had already set, the apartment tenant's mangled and eaten out corpse laying on the ground outside the door. Charlie lit her way around with the lighter she found, she noticed the apartment key in the hands of the body and against the pit in her stomach she reached and grabbed it. Opening it with the key, the apartment was clean and had enough supplies, looks like she beat ransackers.

"Wait I remember that survival thing I saw, save water in containers." She recalled frantically filling tupperware with water, luckily for her this guy had loads of them. She also filled multiple tubs in the bathroom and filled the sink while she was at it. It was 3 am by the time she was done, and her phone had died leaving her in deafening silence without her music. "I really need those solar powered powerbanks."

The next few mornings were rinse and repeat, and just like the survival tip said. The water stopped running and eventually, so did electricity. Charlie had to navigate around using candles it was a bonus with how good the place smelled with them lit so she took it as a win.

The day before...

"A special weapon...for me?" Hoshiko asks in shock and confusion at the case in front of her "Yes, on the body exam you took yesterday it stated you were a match for weapon no.7." Hasegawa explains as he inputs the code to the case, it opens with a hiss as it reveals a scythe weapon. "This weapon is to train you on how to use weapon no.7, this is a normal scythe you can use before you handle the numbered weapon." He continues as Hoshiko stares in awe "You'll have to perform a test exam before you use it in missions, your's is scheduled for the day after tomorrow so be prepared" the girl's eyes peel off the weapon to look at her superior and give him a salute "Yes sir!"

"Geez it's not like it would bite you in the ass to maybe listen to Hasegawa-san for atleast a little while. He's gonna kill us, were supposed to stay on rear." Hoshiko deadpans at Narumi who was running to the yoju that were seconds away from taking literal bites out of Hasegawa in his armor "Actually it would, I would rather doe than listening to his mean mug." The boy rolls his eyes and goes to slice the kaiju that was about to attack as Hoshiko's eye twitches at annoyance to his stubbornness "What am I to do with you..." She sighs as she jumped up and shot two more remaining kaiju.

"Narumi! Hoshiko! What are you doing up in front!? You're supposed to be on rear support!" Hasegawa exclaims at the sight of the two teens "Watching from the back is annoying. I'll take down the honju myself." Narumi nonchalantly says to the older man "I'm sorry Hasegawa-san" Hoshiko says bowing slightly. "I've had it with your lack of teamwork! As we discussed in the briefing, we need to take this kaiju down by keeping in a lockstep and surrounding it on all sides!"

Hoshiko wipes the sweat from her top lip and her forehead at the heat of the sun and Narumi points up to the sky "Look. The weather is better than forecasted. If the fruit absorbs the sunlight and splits, then the dispersal will happen earlier than we predicted, right?" Hoshiko takes up a stem from the neutralized kaijuu from earlier as she hold it up for the two "Well, it is a plant, makes sense." Hasegawa's look turns stern as he replies "Okay...you both bring up a good point. Still, that's nothing more than speculation. Besides, captain Shinomiya has a plan b in store. Until we get orders from the top-" and almost ironically the large man was stopped by their communication device as the three perked up at the sudden voice "This is an emergency message from the control room! The kaiju's split is on an accelerated trajectory! There is a chance of it happening earlier than the initial 2 P.M. time frame!"

"Y'see that? Just like I told you" Narumi says as his scowl turns into a smile "I'm going ahead. You guys follow behind and take in the sights of the city once all the kaijuu are gone." Narumi bolts off as Hoshiko is quick to follow looking back to give their superior an apologetic smile "We'll be up ahead, sorry Hasegawa-san!" She hears the man call out to them as Narumi speeds up "Skills and results, thats all the first division cares about, right?"

A crowd of kaijuu spot the duo as they both make quick work of it "Too slow." Narumi says as he turns to shoot in the other direct missing the sight of two kaijuu closing in on him as Hoshiko shoots them before they could get to him "How 'bout you watch your back first?" She says as he pushes the hair that fell on her face away "Y'know, I really hate using this gun." Hoshiko says as she raises her gun to look for any more remaining kaijuu as Narumi lands beside her. The boy stayed quiet which she found odd looking to him and seeing him eye a few toys in the rubble of a house before he silently walks off, with the other following.

"Hey"

"What?"

"You're doing great they won't just throw that away, y'know that?" Hoshiko says as she pats Narumi on the back "Where the hell did that come from? And I don't care if they discharge me or something." Narumi gives her a look as the girl smiles "Nothing, just had a hunch it would help y'know?" He gives her a scowl at the reply as their communication device bursts with their superiors voice "Narumi, Hoshiko, do you read me?!" The two flinch at the sudden volume as Hasegawa continues "Be careful! The kaiju are getting denser in the center!" "Yeesh, pipe down. Quit ordering me around" Narumi complains as he goes to remove the communication device and gives it to Hoshiko "Hold it for me, will ya? He's always so damn noisy." She could only sigh and place his device in her pocket.

"Hoshiko." The girl perks up at the call of her name from her own device "Yes sir?" She questions holding a finger to her ear "We're turning today's mission into your test your weapon will be dropping in a nearby area get to there and retrieve it, be -" "Be prepared, got it" Hoshiko chuckles, guessing the next words of the man "I'll take care of Narumi, don't worry." She says looking at the boy who was peeking at the seed from the corner of a building. "Alright, I'm entrusting this to you." Is the last thing she heard from Hasegawa as she walks up to Narumi as the two see the Honju pass by.

"Let's split up, gotta check on something" Hoshiko says as she turns to walk the other direction "Huh? What do you mean? Did that old mug tell you to do something?" The girl nods as she continues walking "Yeah I'll be right back! Stay safe!" She says as she starts to sprint "Psh, as if i need to wishes to be safe Narumi says as he turns to face the honju.

Hoshiko runs till she sees a chopper with the JAKDF symbol and she watches as it drops something 'That must be a delivery for me' she smiled as she aproached the case and unclasped the locks to see her scythe "Bad ass!" She exclaims as she discards of her gun and grabs the weapon giving it a few swings and dropping it "Shit! Uhm..." She raises the weapon to get used to it "I'll get used to it...right?"

Hoshiko arrives to the same area she separated from Narumi "Where is this dumb ass?" She looks around then hears explosions from a building nearby "There!" She jumps up on pieces of rubble to jump into the hole to see a kaijuu about to attack Hasegawa "Hey guys! Watcha talkin' 'bout?" She says as she slices the remaining kaiju "Hoshi? Where in the hell did you get that?" Narumi points at the weapon in her hand as the girl gasps almost dropping her weapon again "more importantly what happened to you? What happened to being all high and mighty?" The girl chuckles as she takes in Narumi's state. "Shut it. Like actually."
