What is a zine? Why do you call this a Zinethology?
The traditional definition of a zine is typically a small, self-published booklet, often handcrafted and circulated in limited quantity. Fanzines are typically collections of art and writing from various creators brought together under a common theme, group, character(s), or just based within its fandom in general. The HOTGUY COMICS Zinethology originally started out as a simple comic-themed zine with vaguely interconnected stories that are implied to be set within the same universe. However, as the scope of this project changed and evolved, the team elected to call our project a Zinethology instead, due to its atypical nature— especially in comparison to the rest of the fanzine community.
No, this zine is— and always will be— a free-to-download PDF with accompanying folders for its digital merch. In addition, any revenue we make from our upcoming physical releases will be donated to charity.
I can't download your zine. How can I still read it?
If you're having problems downloading our zine, you can check out our troubleshooting guide and try a few methods listed there first. If you are still having issues, you can reach out to itch.io for additional help, or simply visit our blog on tumblr to read the whole zine here.
Will there be a second volume?
The team is currently in our creation period for the Ghost Issues, a bonus Zinethology set in the HOTGUY COMICS universe that fleshes out plot points and additional pitches that were passed over in the first volume. Once that is complete, we will take a hiatus before starting to look into our plans for a second volume. Keep an eye on our socials to stay updated for any news!
Ghost Issues is the name we came up with for our bonus Zinethology set within the universe of HOTGUY COMICS. As a "DLC" to the first volume, this Zinethology will cover various stories, arcs, and characters who were sadly passed over due to plot constraints in the original volume.
Will there be a physical release?
Yes! Our team is currently working on a physical release for both Volume One and Ghost Issues! As of now, we are still in our creation period, so please stay tuned on our socials for upcoming news!
Will there be limited stock?
Yes, this will be a limited release of both Volume 1 and Ghost Issues.
While our team cannot promise there will be any reprints of HOTGUY COMICS after this, the Zinethologies are formatted so that they may be printed and bound at your personal convenience.
When will the physical releases of HOTGUY COMICS Zinethology and Ghost Issues come out?
As of right now, we are still in the creation period for Ghost Issues, so we do not have a set date for pre-orders. Keep a lookout on our socials to stay informed on any updates to our schedule, and we hope to see you once the finished product is finally released!
