Impatiently waiting

Does anyone still exist here, hrm? Oh well, I like talking to ghosts. I redid the old one and there are two more versions to unearth, if you click the linkie!

I basically just painted over this, wanted to see what I could do as quickly as I could and played around with some things. Around six hours or so. The two on the right were done in acrylic on bristol board and the photos were taken with shitty cameras.

Just practicing a new style. It’s fun!

Another rework for practice on my new style, because it got flagged by Tumblr as porn. We’ll see if this does as well, but hey, they released it from the porn cage because it’s NOT EVEN SHOWING ANYTHING. Ahem. Good thing, I am still upset with that. Anyway: This is from my 13 Shades of Halloween series, originally done in 2007 (bottom right), reworked at 2012 (bottom left), now three new versions for 2019 (the top three). I decided to give her a bit more Elsa Lancaster flavor this time. Just trying to learn some skills here, glad to be finished so I can play with something else that I won’t hopefully want to make three ways. Red is probably my favorite this time around, with b&w second. Fun fact, they have always been painted green and black to begin with.

Haven’t found a new spot, so I’ll post here at least for this, since it’s not likely to be flagged. We’ll see where I end up, still really put out with Tumblr. If you’re interested to see it, this link contains a link to the original work I did (just read the descript and click the thumbnail).

Because I’m an artist, and I want to better my craft, occasionally I draw naked people. HOLY CRAP THAT’S RIGHT< I DRAW PEOPLE IN THE RAW< LIKE ALL ARTISTS HAVE AND DO, SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. It’s called a ‘study’, and it’s fucking -necessary- to learn how to be an artist. It is something that all artists start their pieces doing, because clothes are a later step. Now, are the ones I’ve been posting doing anything dirty or say... PORNOGRAPHIC? No. That’s a -very- important distinction right now. The problem I have with things like this Tumblr policy change is it’s a GIGANTIC SWEEP. There’s very little discrimination in the application of it, and it’s impossible to battle. What does that mean for me, personally? I have a couple pieces with girls with nipples on them. One happens to be skeletons taking their skin off like they were wearing clothes. And on DA, that was censored. SERIOUSLY. I was so upset, ...on a place called ‘Deviant Art’ where girls could put up pictures of their asses as ‘artistic’, here’s my 2mm big nipple being blocked! ....I said, okay, gave in, censored it, and cried. It really bothers me still. Now, my skin study, the most recent post here (”Get Lucky, again”) ...mostly about learning to paint a new way, is now censored on Tumblr, where I went for display because of course DA would’ve censored it. (Which requires an account to let someone see, and not everyone I know has/or would have an account on a place like that.) Guess why I was censored? NIPPLES.  Again. It was flagged, and rather than battling a stupid system for a stupid reason (I just don’t have the heart to fight the man), I just won’t be posting anything like that here or on DA. Which might mean I don’t post, or much at all, depending.. because I’m trying to learn a new style and it’s going to be naked people for stretches for a while. (Not like I was posting a lot, but I wanted to try to post more...) No idea where I might go for that, where it will be OKAY to do art for the sake of it, and not have it flagged the same way as some cock-gobbling pedophiles. What can I do? It’s really discouraging to me to have to stop in my creative process, and more importantly, sharing my CRAFT, and find -another- place, because of this kind of thing. I get it, people have porn on here, some of it really really skeezy. This is about ‘protecting kids’ from kiddie porn and seeing porn. OKAY. I’m for that, once upon a time I had a hell of a fight with my kid trying to keep him away from the nasty. But. There has to be discretion in this sort of thing, and it has to be handled better than it is across the board in these ‘community’ places. Normal, clean, perfectly okay artists are getting hit because it even ‘appears like’ pornography, (#SendDunes) and that’s not okay. That’s the essence of censorship for all the wrong reasons, and it’s wrong to censor art because it offends you. That’s right, Michelangelo, you gotta leaf that penis, but you can show male nipples in all that glory. And hey, for now, you can show Satan, Geef brothers, but how long will that last? No. You need to learn from history and learn about art. This isn’t okay with me, nor should it be with anyone. I am on the fence about staying on Tumblr now. I’m offended and hurt by this. My DA still hangs around, and FB too. You won’t see nipples because I am not trying to offend here, just do art. But, it looks like I might have to find a new internet home where I can post without fear of censorship when I’m just trying to express myself and learn.

Trying out a new painting style. It’s so much fun to change. This was sketched a while ago, and I never expected it to turn into a “real” piece. Was a kick though! Finished around Dec 2017, been working on my style shift since.

A month and a half ago I figured out a new style of painting, been practicing at it, so there’s output but not a lot I have shown yet. I did this piece for a friend’s birthday, which is a makeover of one from 2009. Took about two days (fastest I’ve done one in a while.)

I know, I know, you might’ve thought I died. Good news though, I haven’t. I just have been avoiding spoilers and having life kidnap me. I’m finally free of the mad man though, and I’ve risen from the grave to give you cute. Hopefully you like it too. DeviantArtSeemsToHaveLostItsButtons.
