In that first summer, only Kanto Pokémon were available. Now, anyone can find Pokémon from Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos and a few from Galar. Not only that but so many other features have been added like raid battles for legendaries, trainer battles, friend battles, team rocket and Giovanni, team go rocket, battle leagues, Pokémon buddy system, friend system and special, field and event research. The events are great like community days once a month where a chosen Pokémon is much more likely to spawn for a few hours and much more likely to be shiny. Hundreds of shiny variants of pokémon are in the game now too!

Not only that but it did not really decrease in popularity that much. Sure, some people who only had it because it was popular left but many joined after and many played more frequently. I couldn't afford a smartphone until 2017 which was when I joined Pokémon Go, I can think of several friends who joined after 2016 too. In. fact, in 2020, it earned the most money it has in any year so far, grossing $1.23 BILLION! Its usage dipped in 2017 but has been gaining steadily since with 166 million users last year.

I firmly believe all the best stories happen at WalMart self checkout, I was there at 3 in the morning one time buying Froot Loops, and there was a tall, tall country dad there and his little 5 year old daughter.

And when buying my Froot Loops, I dropped them. And I said "fuck. my loops." And I remember, like, in the back hearing, [gruffer, southern accented voice] "Yeah! Dont be afraid to speak!"

[normal voice] And I was like, "What?"

And he was like, [accented voice] "Youre angry, about your cereal. Say it. Say Fuck with your chest!"

It is not something you can do accidentally, regards of what you're talking about.

You can't accidentally fake depression, or anxiety, or bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, or any other mental illness.

You can't accidentally fake Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, personality disorders.

You can't accidentally fake ADHD, autism, Tourette's Syndrome, auditory processing disorder, aphasia or any other neurodivergence

You can't accidentally fake being trans or ace-spec or aro-spec or any other LGBTQIA+ identity.

You can't accidentally fake chronic illnesses like CFS, fibromyalgia or any chronic illness.

You also can't accidentally fake being good/intelligent at something. You didn't fool your peers into reaching your position.

You can't accidentally fake trauma, PTSD/cPTSD, DID/OSDD/DDNOS or any other trauma-based disorder.

Tldr:

Faking is a conscious choice.

You cannot do it by accident.
