Last week, we had a day when all of our listeners were in Hong Kong.
Audiodramas don't often talk about their stats other than milestone numbers but days like that are just so mad. For context, the show isn't made in Hong Kong or set there and none of our (very international) cast are from there.
But somehow we connected with a whole bunch of people (or maybe one person with too many devices who LOVES our show) there.
We are a small audiodrama. We don't have a marketing budget or a team of people advertising us, so when fun days like that happen it's because of all our listeners telling friends, sharing online and just being effing amazing!
Thanks listeners, for making us famous in Hong Kong for a day, and just generally.
We had such a great time at the Golden Lobes the other night. Well done to all the winners, commiserations with all the non-winners (but really, we make or listen to audio shows so we're all winners).
Thanks to everyone who voted for us in the listener category. And if you didn't, a) it's fine, we love all our fans, and b) make it up to us with an animal drawing?

Sometimes Jon writes a scene for one of our characters and asks "is this too silly?", then the zoo keepers of the world as one say "not nearly silly enough".
The Golden Lobes is one of the UK's best independent podcast awards and... we've been nominated for three of them!
The specific awards we're up for are:
🏆 Behind the Scenes Hero
🏆 Best International Show
🏆 Best Scripted Show
We're, as you'd imagine, beyond excited!
Big shoutout to all the other nominees in all the categories. You can find the full list here.
A special mention to Crowley Time, with Me Tom Crowley. It's a super fun sketch show mostly made by one guy (who's also in Victoriocity, Wooden Overcoats and the Beef and Dairy Network Podcast, all of which are amazing shows), the titular Tom Crowley. He gave us lots of advice when we first started out, proof that audiodrama is full of nice people.
Dia dhaoibh agus Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh! It’s St.Patrick’s Day and I wanted to share some Irish media with you that I have fallen in love with recently! So here are some audio dramas that I wanted to shout out some shows that I’ve started listening to, or have been recommended!
This House Will Devour You
“Kilphaun Hall sits high on a ridge overlooking the Blackwater river in County Waterford. Abandoned and silent for so long, it echoes now to the cheerful sounds of renovation and preparations for the coming social season of winter 1925. But Kilphaun Hall has its secrets and some places are best left to rot, forgotten.”
(For more by them) https://www.citeogpodcasts.com/
Citeog Podcasts is a small Irish-based indie producer of quality original audio drama. Other shows of their include: Witchpunk (2026) and Ten Appocalypses (2025).
The Last Dance
Rusty Quill is an industry leading independent production company and podcast network.
“The Great South was alone. A small rock formed atop the bones of dead gods and leviathans, drifting within an endless ocean. People left to their own petty wars and dogmas. But now, from that same ocean, comes a wave of death in the form of savage invaders, striking without cause against the Eightfold House of Holy Ichors and its 8 Bleeding Monks. In the wake of their eradication, a battlefield scavenger by the name of Jericho Raeke goes picking through the remnants and discovers something that puts him, and his unlikely allies, at the centre of the conflict.”
Last Dance is produced in Belfast and has a full cast of Northern Irish voices, with guest stars including David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) and James Mackenzie (CBBC’s Raven).
Petrified
A horror fiction podcast from a darker Ireland.…
“Petrified is a horror audio drama anthology from a darker Ireland. Petrified tells the chilling tales of ordinary people encountering the supernatural, and their terrifying fates.”
It is written and directed by Peter Dunne. Produced, edited and sound design by Liam Geraghty.
Down Below The Reservoir
A horror podcast series from creator & writer Graham Tugwell
(I had to use the wayback machine for the website because I think its broken, but if you search up the title you should be able to find it.)
“Here is the horror of it: In the Town, you are a child only as long as you’re allowed. Then something happens, makes you different, and you have to be an adult. You never get the choice. One day, you have to change. And the crowd watches, making sure it happens…”
Down Below The Reservoir is the first Irish fiction podcast, adapted from the works of acclaimed horror maven Graham Tugwell (Everything Is Always Wrong) and voiced by award-winning writers Dave Rudden, Sarah Maria Griffin and Deirdre Sullivan. Published in twenty countries, through five continents, these stories unearth the very special misery of small-town Ireland, suspended between terror, hilarity and grief.
Fireside
Fireside is the Irish Storytelling Podcast. Kevin C. Olohan is your host and Fireside Bard. Every Wednesday, Kevin takes a story from Folklo
“Fireside is the Irish Storytelling Podcast. Kevin C. Olohan is your host and Fireside Bard. Every Wednesday, Kevin takes a story from Folklore or Mythology, gives it a fresh retelling, and discusses the story itself and the craft, culture and history of Storytelling. Whether you’re a folklore fanatic, or someone who just enjoys hearing a good yarn, you can always join Kevin by the Fireside.”
Neighbourly - Mathew O’Casement
Do you ever really know your neighbours?
“Do you ever really know your neighbours? Neighbourly follows the residents of Little Street, house by house. What they do, how they interact with each other, and what skeletons are hiding in their closets. Our Narrator is definitely reliable.”
The Green Horizon
The Green Horizon is a science fiction audiodrama featuring an Irish space captain and his rag-tag crew
“The Green Horizon is a Lovie Awards shortlisted sci-fi audio comedy that focuses on a na'er-do-well Irish space captain and his rag-tag crew as they traverse a war-torn Galaxy in search of fame and fortune.”
The Devil’s Chair
Part 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FvXYRgbBoM
Part 2 - https://youtu.be/qMbUcqsD9UI?si=flGB6U4OoQa5jLab
“Dearbhla Ashe has always wanted a career in comedy, and has suffered hard to get as far as she has - a nightly show in a dilapidated hotel on a sleepy coastal town in Maine. It might be enough, but the appearance of a young, new comedic star forces her to choose whether to foster new talent or fight for her own position on stage.”
Written by Méabh de Brún (a.k.a. Carpenter from The Silt Verses)
And some special mentions of course:
Conversations With Ghosts
Conversations with Ghosts is a fictional horror podcast from the creators of Archive 81
“Conversations with Ghosts is a new fiction podcast from the creators of Archive 81. Each episode is an interview with a different spirit, in which a cemetery’s mausoleum attendant attempts to convince the ghost to pass on.”
Featuring the voice of Penny O’Brien as Bridget Keegan in Episodes 1.3 & 1.14.
Keeping The Zoo
“Keeping the Zoo is a full-cast audio sitcom about a zoo that’s short on money but big on warm-hearted colleagues and animal shennanigans. It’s about work, friendship, capturing escaped animals, and finding out what’s important in life.”
Written and produced by Jon Madge. Features actor and playwright Denis Burke as Alan.
I hope this was helpful and, again, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! Go n-éirí an bóthar libh, a chairde agus go raibh míle maith agaibh!
A great list of audiodramas with Irish connections to celebrate the day.
Remember St Patrick kicked the snakes out of Ireland, so if you're listening to Keeping the Zoo today, you have to listen past episode 5, because that's the one with the snake in it.
Our Writer and Sound Designer Jon just won an award for Best Direction of an Indie Short Film (together with co-director Kat Carson) for their silent horror short film I Give to Thee.
Join us in giving them both some props.
Jon has asked we add that his first love is and will always be Audio Drama.

In this week's catchup, it's the Season 1 Finale (uness you count the Christmas special) and everyone is reeling from the Zoo Director's big announcement. We've got special guest stars, secrets and the promise of a soggy raccoon calendar.*
We got to work with the gorgeously-voiced Ente Breed for this episode.
The featured animal for the episode is the African Hunting Dog, which is the favourite animal of Ben, who plays the Zoo Director. He schooled us all so much on them when we were recording, so go ahead...ask us anything?
You can listen to the episode, and the whole series, on the widget above, as well as on Spotify, all podcast apps, and our website. If you do listen, leave a review and tell us what you like about the show.
Something's up at the zoo; Alan is being punctual, helpful, and has even got his paperwork done on time. It couldn't have happened at a better time, though, as an animal has escaped and it's going to take everyone working together to recatch it.
Next up on our season 1 catchup, is episode 5.
Some behind the scenes on this one, we did some live shows to premiere the series for a home audience, including live foley from the incredibly talented Becky Blomgren. She and our sound designer Jon spent about 3 weeks trying to find something which sounds just like those big plastic strips that they have on some zoo enclosures (and also maybe butcher's shops?) because almost nothing sounds like them on mic.
We hope you're enjoying the catchup. We might have some big news coming up soon, so please do susbscribe to Keeping the Zoo on your podcast app, and follow us here so we can share it with as many of our fans as possible.
Edna the Echidna is due to give birth today and everyone at the zoo is very excited about the new arrivals. Everyone that is, except Alan, who's worried about an email they were all sent this morning.
Next up on our catchup for season 1 is episode 4, which made our sound designer cry (but in a good way, like watching the Fox and the Hound, not like watching the news).
If you're enjoying the catchup (or enjoyed the show the first time around), why not share the series with some friends/lovers/friendly pet lovers. Word of mouth is such a nice (and effective) way to support independent audio drama.

There's a thief operating in the zoo, and Evelyn and Michelle are on the case! Meanwhile, Alan has his own mystery to solve: what's in the tea hut?
We're continuing our catchup of Season 1. If you're listening for the first time, get in touch and tell us what you think!
A fun behind the scenes on this one: we did more takes than you could possibly imagine with Denis, who plays Alan, at the Tea Hut. They were all gold (your man's a pro), but we were just having so much fun.
A first day at work, a very confused Michelle, an entirely absent Alan, and an Evelyn who's sick of this nonsense. Oh yeah, and hundreds of birds. What's not to like in episode 2!
Inside fact, this includes our sound designer's favourite soundscape to create (actually, they said joint favourite with "making the noise of a reindeer drinking soup" in the Christmas episode). We won't spoil what it is but let's just say they recorded a lot of individual birds.
