The other one that was totally subconscious because the song wrote so quickly is in That Would Be Enough. That song has no historical precedent. Thereās no textbook I got that from. It was just a very real moment of āI love you no matter what.ā Then I later see Bartlet saying it to Ellie! And I was like, āAw, shit! I took that too!ā Itās a testament to how many times Iāve seen all these episodes. The only real deliberate one is something called The Redcoat Transition. Itās not on the album, but itās the transition between Youāll Be Back and Right Hand Man. The drum fill is the āPreviously on The West Wingā drum fill. Every time I was backstage during it Iād go, āPreviously on The West Wing.ā Iād whisper that to Chris Jackson who is also a huge West Wing fan. Hrishi Hirway: When I hear The Room Where It Happens I think about when Sam is talking about wanting to get back to staffing the President. Sam says, āUntil you sit in the room all day, you canāt comprehend the chaos of the Oval Office.ā And then, āI gotta get back in there. Thatās where itās happening.ā Lin-Manuel Miranda: Oh, wow.
