When you remember that a lot of cishet ppl, being total normies, have kids for extremely self-serving reasons, it makes way more sense that they act like their child wanting to be fully themselves is an act of personal betrayal--- they filter the entire event through a lens of "how does this affect the social perception I had this child to uphold?"
