A man who watched as his own country, his own family, fall into a hollow, emotionless state

All the citizens worshiping a monster who took away their negative emotions, but also the ability to grieve and feel

And then, when he tries to kill the monster, knowing that it’s hurting those he loves, his country and family disown him, because he hurt the “god” they worshipped

Then, despite the fact that his country hates him, his family doesn’t understand, and no one believes him, he still will do anything to save them

Painfully augments his body as a child, turning himself into something not human, all in the hopes of freeing a country that despises him

Because no matter what they think, he will save all of them

Then, when he’s asked what family means, he says that to him, it’s like an immovable stake. When he falls, he can use it to pull himself up. When it storms, he can hold it to stay grounded.

His family, even when they had given up on him, was his anchor and hope to keep moving forward

Then, when the monster is finally defeated, and the emotions flood back. It doesn’t cause widespread panic, and depression for all.

It gives closure

People don’t only remember the negative emotions, but are reminded of the love that had been associated with it

And for the first time in 10 years

Gokuraku and his sister can finally mourn their mother, knowing that no matter what happened, they will always love one another
