Look at this photo. If LWH took it, it was probably with a view camera, like a Graflex 4x5. You have to imagine what the negative will catch. You have no direct view, the camera does. You line up all the angles you want, squat into position and snap the camera. You don't know what you captured until you process the film and print it.

You want to take a second photo? Put the slide into the film holder, pull the film holder out and flip it. Reinsert the film holder, put the slide out and you are ready to snap image #2.

Still with all this physical action photographers like LWH imaged this image before he set the shutter speed.
