Clean snack before bed time! The last few nights I have been going to bed slightly hungry which caused me to not get a good nights sleep. Tonight I made a clean shake before bed to help me off to sleep. This shake consists of 310 nutrition vegan vanilla protein powder, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup almond milk, ½ cup of dark sweet cherries, and strawberries. A perfect clean bedtime snack/dessert.
Clean breakfast to start my day off right! This morning I made two organic brown fried eggs, seasoned with red pepper, salt, basil, and pepper. I made broccoli seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, and a sweet potato. I am working on becoming a vegan and will be eliminating eggs from my diet soon. However, this was a well balanced clean, healthy and fit breakfast.

If you are tired of pasta, try one of these healthy alternatives.
Clean eating pasta alternatives! Â Pasta has always been one of my favorite foods growing up. Â Now that I live a healthy and clean lifestyle, I like to try different pasta alternatives since I want to minimize the amount of gluten that I consume. Â Consuming too much pasta can be damaging to your health. Â Pasta is a refined product made from grains. Â The high amounts of carbohydrates in pasta can affect blood-sugar levels. Â There are glutens in pasta that some people cannot digest properly. Â Eating too much pasta can cause cravings for other carb-loaded foods, which can cause weight gain and bloating. Â High quantities of carbs are not good and can damage insulin levels.
Luckily, there are many pasta alternatives out there today which will never make you miss regular pasta. Â These alternatives are healthy, clean, and low in carbs. They are also gluten free. Â Pasta alternatives are often made out of corn, brown rice, quinoa, and vegetables.
Here are some different types of pasta alternatives made from vegetables, nuts, tofu, and gluten free ingredients:
1. Spaghetti Squash: This is one of my favorites. Â I cut the spaghetti squash in half, season it with salt, pepper, olive oil, rosemary, and basil, and bake it in the oven for about 40 minutes. Â I then scrape out the spaghetti squash and it looks exactly like pasta. Â This is a delicious clean pasta alternative.
2. Zucchini: Often called “zoodles.”  To make zucchini noodles, you can purchase a spiralizer that will grind up the zucchini into long strands that look like noodles.  After I do that I like to cook the zoodles in a frying pan, seasoned with olive oil, coconut oil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and basil.  I also add crushed tomatoes to make a sauce.  This is a great low-calorie alternative to pasta.
3.Soba noodles: These Japanese noodles are packed with protein and have a nutty flavor. Â They pair nicely when making a vegetarian stir fry. Â
4.Shirataki noodles: These noodles are made from tofu and contain high amounts of fiber. Â They contain no fat or calories, so they taste a little bland. Â Add some sauce and seasonings to spice this pasta up!
5.Quinoa: An ancient grain pasta alternative! Â Quinoa is packed with protein. Â 1 cup of quinoa has 32 grams of protein! Â Great for vegans and vegetarians!
6. Brown Rice Pasta: A great source of protein! Â Gluten free pasta alternative that is easy to find in the grocery store. Â I often purchase the elbow shaped brown rice pasta. Â
Sophie's salad from SALADWORKS! One of my favorites! I substitute avocado in replace of the chicken since I am a vegetarian. I was shopping at the mall today and it is so difficult to find a healthy place in the food court to eat at. Luckily, I found SALADWORKS! This salad consists of spring mix, bleu cheese, craisins, apples, peacans, raspberry vinaigrette, and avocado.
What Vegans Can Eat
Here is a Vegans guide to the food pyramid!!
Vegans are suggested to consume a milk alternative each day. Â It is suggested to consume soy milk, almond milk, cashew milk, or any other non dairy milk with 6-8 servings daily.
Vegans are suggested to consume omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins B12 and D.
Vegans should consume 2 or more servings of fruit a day. Â It is easy to get in your fruit servings when adding fruit into protein shakes.
Vegans could also consume some grains.  However, since I don’t think that grains are healthy, I suggest trying to cut out all grains if possible, or stick to a gluten free diet.
Vegans should consume 3 or more servings of vegetables.  This is easy since vegans are eating mostly plant based foods.  This is a category that a vegan won’t have to worry too much about since vegans consume vegetables with mostly every meal.
It is important for vegans to consume different sources of protein. Â Vegans can eat beans, tofu, bean alternatives, plant based proteins, and avocados in order get enough protein.
Happy Saturday! Today's colorful, healthy, clean, vegan and fit salad! This salad consists of many clean vegetables such as beets, red and yellow tomatoes, corn, spring mix, zucchini, and artichokes! For some protein, I added in some grilled tofu. For the dressing, I am using a maple syrup vinaigrette and olive oil. This is a great spring meal to enjoy with this lovely weather we are having this weekend! Grilling tofu on the grill is simple, and makes a huge difference since I think tofu tastes much better grilled! Salads don't have to be boring. You can make your salad as pretty and colorful as mine and enjoy the health benefits to get ready for swimsuit season! 🏊🏻🌺🌻👙

New clean find from the grocery store! I did my shopping last night and came across these as I walked down the peanut butter aisle. I am getting tired of plain old peanut butter, and was looking for something new. I found this brand called Wild Friends. The picture and the name drew me in. I have been hearing great things about sunflower butter, so I decided to purchase this organic honey sunflower butter. This butter is organic, and NON GMO. The ingredients consist of roasted sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, clover honey, and sea salt. These are all simple, healthy, and clean ingredients. There are only 190 calories per serving, which is about the same compared to regular peanut butter. However, this butter is the cleaner choice. I also purchased the chocolate coconut peanut butter. Chocolate and peanuts are one of my favorite combinations. I love coconut as well so I figured I’d give this a try. This tasted like an almond joy with peanut butter. It was very delicious. This one is also NON GMO. The ingredients consist of roasted peanuts, coconut, agave, unsweetened dark chocolate, and sea salt. Also only 190 calories per serving. These butters’ are great peanut butter alternatives and are cleaner peanut butter options. The founders, Keely and Erika, promise that all Wild Friends Butter’s are dairy free and gluten free. The sunflower butter contains 2g of sugar and the chocolate one consists of 5g of sugar. They both ranged from 6-7 grams of protein. You can add these into shakes, smoothies, add some onto fruit, or just eat some out of the jar! Next time you do your food shopping, pick up one of these instead of peanut butter.
This relates to my post from the other day about different milks! Vegans, these are for you! All of these milks and dairy free and cruelty free, for the animal lovers and activists! I personally enjoy the tastes of these better than regular milk. There are way more dairy free milks and milk alternatives than I thought! I've heard good things about help milk. I really would like to try hemp milk, hazelnut milk, and cashew milk! I just need to find a store that sells them. Does anyone know of one? I would assume that a store like Whole Foods would sell these products. I'll look on the next shopping trip I take!
Each type of milk has its advantages and disadvantages, depending on a person’s diet, health, nutritional needs, or personal taste preferences.
There are so many different types of “milk,” out on the market today.  You have your regular cow milk, skim milk, 2% milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk, rice milk, and many more.  There are several lactose free milks that are on the market today.  The trend today seems to be non-dairy milks.  Nut milks such as almond milk are extremely popular.  Soy milk has also been a popular milk alternative over the past several years.  There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of milk.  I personally choose to drink almond milk, since I try to avoid most dairy and stick to a vegan diet.  I also like how almond milk is lower in calories, and how it has a lot of protein and a lot of vitamins A and D.  Almond milk does however lack calcium.  I chose to not drink cow milk since I am a vegetarian and working on becoming a vegan.  I also choose to not drink cow milk since it can contain a lot of fat and calories, and since lactose seems to upset my stomach at times.  I choose to not drink soy milk since too much soy intake can lead to health complications.  I have tried rice milk before, and I wasn’t too fond of the taste.  Rice milk however is the least allergenic of milk alternatives which is good.  Rice milk is high in carbohydrates and lacks protein, so I choose to stick to almond milk.  I love the taste of almond milk and use it in protein shakes, coffee, and drink it plain or use it in recipes.  There are so many milk alternatives out there to try.  I want to try an almond and cashew milk blend.  I saw this at the store the other day and I am curious how it tastes.  Next time when shopping for milk, try a milk alternative, and see which one works best for you and your health goals.Â

Sunday dinner! Happy Sunday everyone! For Dinner tonight, I cooked for my family. I made my homemade potato salad, spaghetti squash, and roast chicken. I obviously didn't eat the chicken since I'm a vegetarian, so this plate above was my dinner. I make a healthy and clean potato salad that consists of red potatoes, salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar, plain Greek yogurt, oregano, fresh lemon, onion and garlic powder, basil, and some bell peppers. For the spaghetti squash, I roast it in the oven for about 45 minutes, coated in salt, pepper, olive oil, Rosemary, and basil. Spaghetti squash is a great pasta alternative. As a side dish, I also made a salad with mixed greens, mushrooms, tomatoes, and avocado. This was a low protein meal for me. For vegetarians, to add protein to a meal like this, try adding tofu, chick peas, nuts, or beans.
