Taking this brief pause to go back to talking about BTS.
The Grammy statement is funny to me bc they say artists can submit to all categories and it wouldn’t exclude anyone from submitting to the main categories which is true—it doesn’t stop them from submitting. But we’ve seen time and time and time again that most non-English speaking artists will not actually be considered to win let alone gain the nomination.
The Grammys were clearly on edge knowing they would never ever give BTS a win in a main category and probably don’t want to give them the nomination even. But they also knew that it would look very very bad not to do so this time around given Arirang’s success. So they created this category so obviously specifically for them so they can throw them a pity Grammy. And be able to say “here you go, now be happy and stop trying to intrude on the main categories.”
So the statement means nothing when we know almost for certain that they WOULD in fact exclude BTS from the main categories whether they submitted or not. Best case they’d throw them a nomination maybe for song of the year at most. But they’d never in a million years give them a win in a main category.
BTS is just as and MORE relevant and popular than many English speaking artists are. There is no reason they shouldn’t be considered in equal footing to their actual counterparts, which frankly are not other “Asian pop” acts.
One of the most insane currently popular flavors of antisemitism has got to be the “how dare you evil Jews steal our sacred Christian/Muslim theology/culture/holy sites and bastardize them for your nefarious (((Zionist))) purposes” when the theology/culture/holy sites in question are all in fact taken from Jewish religion, tradition, and culture. This bizarre belief that Judaism belongs to everyone but the Jews.
My favorite is the map telling everyone to use the "real" "pre-colonization" names of various cities in Israel. And they're all either new names for cities that have been there for thousands of years... or the same exact name, but in Arabic.

Do you think universalizing religions like Christianity and Islam are just jealous of enthnorelgions like Judaism and Hinduism and our deep cultural and land-based practices and beliefs bc they don’t get to be part of the “special” club and made their beliefs up off the back of Judaism, so they just demonize us with the goal of us disappearing so that all enthnoreligions will disappear so that they can take over and be truly universal or no
You’re saying this “isn’t aimed at anyone in particular” and then going “Christianity and Islam are just jealous” as if philosophies and theologies are sentient human beings. You mean Muslims and Christians. Are Muslims and Christian’s “jealous” of Judaism? No. To imply so would be to imply that Judaism and by extent Jews are “jealous” of Zoroastrianism and their ancient land based practices, dietary laws, dualistic cosmology, and eschatological beliefs. Framing Judaism as a “special club” is a great way to indicate you are a racist and a supremacist, especially since you think that the cultural, societal, and historical progression of the Middle East that resulted in Christianity and Islam are “made up off the back of Judaism.” Which Jews? Are you talking about Mizrahi Jews that lived amongst and contributed to the multi ethnic Semitic populations of the very same social geopolitical region the two other abrahamic religions and traditions stemmed from? Like are you trying to say you don’t understand that religions, cultures, and languages borne in specific regions are similar to pre-existing religions cultures and languages and tend to inspire new progressions in culture and society? You’re talking about an ancient middle eastern people who had religious stories parallel to stories in the Epic Gilgamesh and who lived in some of the longest living civilizations in the the world at the hight of their influence and you have the audacity to frame it like the Ashkenazim and Sephardim of the time equally contributed to the middle eastern social and religious developments just bc they are “ethnically Jewish.” The Bible is literally composed of the Torah and the New Testament and the Quran repeatedly refers to both Christian’s and Jews as “people of God’s books.” The stories are the same because the region is the same and the language and the people evolved from and with each other. The reason Jews and Hindus are currently being demonized by the whole world isn’t because everyone’s jealous of your ””””special chosen people club”””” it’s because the loudest amongst you are often racist and use your religion to support colonial ethnostates.
Also Wikipedia is free: “By the 1st century, Second Temple Judaism was divided into competing theological factions, notably the Pharisees and the Sadducees, besides numerous smaller sects such as the Essenes, messianic movements such as Early Christianity, and closely related traditions such as Samaritanism (which gives us the Samaritan Pentateuch, an important witness of the text of the Torah independent of the Masoretic Text). The sect of Israelite worship that eventually became Rabbinic Judaism and the sect which developed into Early Christianity were but two of these separate Israelite religious traditions. Thus, some scholars have begun to propose a model which envisions a twin birth of Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism, rather than an evolution and separation of Christianity from Rabbinic Judaism. It is increasingly accepted among scholars that "at the end of the 1st century CE there were not yet two separate religions called 'Judaism' and 'Christianity'".
I say “off the backs of” because Christian powers that be and Muslim powers that be try to tell us they are the one true religion and what we believe no longer counts, is false, or we’re going to hell. You’ve pointed out a lot of great facts about how religions originate and I do not deny or even resent that other religions stemmed off from Judaism. What i resent is that populations within those religions tell us our beliefs and culture is invalid now.
I said “special” is quotations to indicate that seems to be what others must believe for them to act this way. Why do universalizing religions seem so intent on invalidating and conquering and disappearing ancient cultures like Judaism, Hinduism, zorastrianism, etc. Thousands of years of conquests and imperialism by Christians and Muslims prove my point.
AND perhaps you missed the point but Judaism is not just a religion. It’s an ethnoreligion. Jews much like Hindus have spiritual practices but our culture is rooted in where geographically we come from. Christianity and Islam are not ethnoreligions. That is neither a good nor bad thing, it’s just a fact. Why would we be jealous of other cultures like you infer we could be? We have plenty ancient and deeply embedded practices of our own tied to our ancestral homeland. Christianity and Islam are not cultures. They are religions. And that’s not a dig or a diss. Just a fact.
So I don’t appreciate when ppl lump Judaism in as an “abrahamic religion” when it is more and different than that.
The New Testament says it supersedes the Torah... as in the rules of god in the Torah no longer apply. That is why Christians are not beholden to the same 613 commandments Jews are. So don’t try to make it seem like Judaism is a part of Christianity when the point of Christianity has always been to replace Judaism.
And yes even modern day ashkenazis follow this same ancient text and language from 3000 years ago. Jews were not the only ones to occupy the ME and I never inferred they were. But we certainly were there and have been there and celebrate the same land-based holidays and pray in the same language as we did 3000 years ago regardless of our diaspora identity. Don’t talk to me as if ashkenasim or sephardism are invalid when the only reason we even have these diaspora identities is because of Christians doing their best to get rid of us. And regardless, we are all Jews who follow the same ancient rituals.
Btw “semetic” doesn’t refer to a type of person. It’s a family of language.
Wanna talk ethnostates? How about Saudi Arabia where it’s illegal to be an atheist. Armenia? They are 99% Armenian and define themselves as a Christian nation and rule according to that, but they do give equal rights to minority populations. Oh wait…so does Israel. How about Iran which was Persian and Zoroastrian and is now a Muslim dictatorship? Oh but sorry…I forgot Muslims are indigenous to not just the Arabian peninsula but also to every single country in the Middle East, Northern Africa, and even Spain. (How a universalising religion can be indigenous to anywhere is funny bc it’s a religion not an ethnicity! So it doesn’t make sense!) So funny how that works! It’s def not because of colonialism.
Wanna talk about the ethnostate of Palestine? Ok! How many Jews have lived in Gaza since 2005? The PA-controlled portions of the West Bank…? What TF do you think would happen to Jews if Palestine was created as an Arab-majority country? The same thing that Muslim and Christian nations have done to Jews for centuries. Jews would certainly not be extended the same rights as non-Jews in Israel are today.
If Christian and Muslim countries and politicians would for one second stop acting like they, the most powerful and largest religions in the world, are in danger bc of Jews or Hindus or Persians or other ethnicities that do not abide by their beliefs, I wouldn’t have made this post.
The things you’re accusing me of implying are your own implications. And also Semitic refers to both a language and a people. The same way Arab refers to a language and a people. More on that later tho.
Anyways, Palestine isn’t and never was an ethnostate because there never was a singular ethnicity in Palestine, or the levant, or the Middle East in general, before and after Christianity and Islam. The reason no Jews live in Gaza is for the same reason Gaza is constantly referred to as an open air prison- it is a refugee camp that was sanctioned and embargoed by Israel for several decades. If you have a Gazan ID you cannot leave Gaza, if you choose as a Palestinian with a west bank ID to go live in Gaza for any reason your limited autonomy as a West Bank ID is stripped of you and you and are subject to the rigid apartheid of being gazzawi. Maybe that along with reports of how Ethiopians and Arab Jews are treated in Israel should indicate enough how minorities are treated in Israel and what rights are afforded to them. Regardless, the argument is akin to “why aren’t there a lot of white Americans living in Native American reservations.” It’s because they’re refugee camps made specifically for the enforcement of colonization and apartheid. Notice however that there are in fact Christians in Gaza and the West Bank. Furthermore, in the West Bank, there are in fact Jews that live there as illegal settlers and if you haven’t been watching the news, the area that encompasses the west bank is not only getting smaller but the land is being sold off by people here in America for the purpose of resettlement.
Every religion is going to say that the laws of the preceding religion no longer applies- that’s how a new religion works. Thats how Judaism also distinguished itself from preceding religions- this is common sense. New laws and new customs. The hypocrisy of saying that these religions are supposed to still venerate Jews themselves as opposed to the abrahamic faith is that a tenant of the Jewish religion is believing that you are Gods only chosen people. I understand Judaism doesn’t seek to convert and is not a “universalizing religion” but you and Zionists are too comfortable speaking about the Arabian conquest of the Middle East as if wasn’t a conquest that did in fact erase a lot of indigenous languages and practices of way of life. No one claims Islam is an indigenous religion. Islam itself does not claim itself as an indigenous religion. No conquered person or persons loves to be conquered or erased or rewritten. I say this as a North African Muslim- not only are our indigenous communities proud of our nativity and individual cultures, not only are they known and respected by individuals, not only is diversity the pride of North Africa, but there is a strong distinction between religion and culture. There is an even stronger distinction between a people and their government. Even in the days of conquest, whether Islamic or Christian, you can make a distinction between an imperialist government or a dictatorship and the people they rule over. It’s almost obvious. Again, let’s take the North African countries as an example. These governments are often dictatorships. They are not voted for by the people that live there. We do not choose our despots. In fact, the west does. Normalizing relations with Israel and puppeteering for America are almost always their goal- it gives you an idea of who in fact does elect these officials. So when you talk about the abuse of minorities under these “Islamic governments” you’re desanctifying the religion as if it allows this treatment of any people, which it doesn’t, you’re erasing the struggle of those minority groups as if they are ready and willing to live under these regimes, you’re refusing to acknowledge that it is the west itself that installs these governments that then terrorize everyone in the country, Muslim or not.
As for Judaism being an ethnoreligion because all Jews follow the same rules, that doesn’t make you special. At all. A Christian in Latin America and a Christian in Spain follow the same rules. Are you implying all Jews share the same culture? Holidays are not a culture. They’re religious observances. Do all Jews wear the same clothes, do they all eat the same food, do they all speak the same language, do they all act and think the same? Someone who has lived in Europe for 50 generations is not the same ethnicity as someone who lived in Africa for 50 generations, especially if their genetic make up is composed of those geographies respectively. This universal notion is only challenged on Judaism. The claim that Judaism as an ethnicreligion is only respectable because it is part of your belief system. Just like thinking that you somehow inherit this ethnicity only through your mother. I’m not Jewish, I don’t have to believe what you believe, and if I believe that a child will inherit an ethnicity through both parents as genetic inheritance, you don’t have to believe what I believe either.
Going back to your point to Palestine as an Arab majority country- first of all, it was. It was home to three major religions before the Balfour declaration and the nakba. This is why I’m saying “Arab,” like Semitic, refers to both a people and a language. I am native to north africa. I call myself an Arab because I speak Arabic and practice an Arab religion. My Coptic neighbors identify themselves as Arabs, or sometimes plainly as Copts. There is no true distinction between us, our genetic inheritance is the same, we are both from the same place. Palestinians were always Palestinians, you can even debate the name of the land if you want, call it Canaan idk, but they were always a Levantine people with ties to their land. The Arab invasions of the Albany and North Africa does not change our ethnicities or our genetics just because we speak a new language. Implying so would mean much of subsaharan Africa is now ethnically Dutch or French, or that all of Latin America and most of the Caribbean is now genetically Spanish. That’s not how that works. Again, the Muslims and Christians you so broadly refer to are aware and proud of their nativities. If you fear that those same Palestinians will do to your people what your people are doing to them, maybe you should spend less time spouting hypocritical hypotheses online and more time doing some self reflection.
Btw I think my dad grandma was 20 something when Egypt expelled its Jews. No one thought it was a good thing except for political fanatics. People died trying to hide their neighbors and cried for neighbors and friends and schoolmates and coworkers and the resentment for religious governments grew. This isn’t super related to anything you’re trying to make a point about, you’re asserting that the removal of Jews is like some celebrated wanted thing, but here’s an anecdote I think is important because this is what I mean about the distinction between governments using religion as a tool versus actual religious people that make up the heart and soul of a culture or nation. How do you think women in Arab countries feel when things like mandatory hijabs and gender laws are passed? You’re perpetuating an idea that we are a meek unfeeling tribalistic people who are eager to embrace radicalization of religion and government when all you have to do is ask any conquered person, Muslim or Christian, about their fights for identity and independence.
alright this is my last reply- whether or not you believe Judaism is an ethnoreligion or not does not change the fact that it is by all definitions. We don’t just “believe” that it is. The same way the Ancient Greeks’ identity could not be removed from either their mythology nor their geographic place of origin, is the same for Jews and our ties to the land and the practices and holidays BASED on that land. Same with the way ancient Egyptians were—their spirituality was tied to the land itself. Even Jews in NY celebrate the agricultural cycle of the land of Israel. Please do not try to tell me about my own ethnicity and religion.
Ethnicity has nothing to do with genetics contrary to popular belief. It’s about shared practices. Yes Jews share a lot of common DNA regardless of our diaspora, but that doesn’t prove our Jewry —we just have a small population so it’s interesting to note our shared genetic lineage. Your ethnicity CAN change over time if you give up your language, religion, cultural practices, and adopt new ones. So, the Arabization of MENA has done that to many of the cultures that once existed there.
I do not believe all the people in Arab countries are a monolith. I believe the Islamist powers that have conquered said places are the problem in the way they have historically and currently vow to eliminate Jewry from the world. Jews lived for a long time in these places before being expelled as you said, and i don’t doubt for a minute that some of their neighbors mourned them. However to pretend there isn’t a pervasive amount of antisemitism in Arab countries even amongst the populations themselves is naive.
And no, there are no Jews allowed in the PA controlled WB, Area A. I am very against the growing settlements in the WB, but none of them are in Area A. Jews are not allowed in Area A. It is ok to admit that Palestinian powers hate Jews just like it’s ok to admit the extremists in the Israeli government hate Palestinians.
Gazans aren’t allowed into Israel? Entirely false. Thousands had daily work permits prior to October 7. Why did Israel enact a blockade? It certainly wasn’t established immediately after Israelis were removed in 2005. There were entirely open borders actually. It could be because Hamas’s charter vows to kill every Jew first in Israel and then in the world if they get the chance, and they took their chance in the 1st and 2nd intifadas. It could also be because Hamas’s main reason for being it to wage a religious war against Jews (to the international audience, they like to frame it as a territorial war, but then why did the Arabs (they didn’t go by Palestinians at the time) refuse the white paper deal in 1939 where they were offered 99% of the land and even limited Jewish immigration? Hint: is bc they hate Jews.). I think you underestimate the power and violence of straight up antisemitism that is present. Native Americans do not have a genocidal charter to kill anyone who isn’t Native American. If a white person wandered into a reservation they would not have their organs literally ripped out by hand by the native Americans (that did happen to Jews in Palestine though!) The Christians that do live in Gaza face discrimination by Hamas so i don’t think it’s a flex that there’s a meager population there. And what, just because there’s a handful of people of other religions in Palestinian Territories it’s ok that they don’t allow Jews in? It’s ok to admit the Palestinian leadersbip are bad horrible people.
Ethiopian and Arab Jews in Israel? If you’re referring to the disgusting libel about forced mass sterilization then you are believing antisemitic propaganda. But you don’t seem very well versed in Jewish or even Israeli history at all, so it doesn’t surprise me. I don’t doubt racism among the population exists in Israel, as it does literally everywhere, but regardless of color or religion everyone is legally the same under the law. That can’t be said about anywhere else in the region. Yes, it is a Jewish state. Therefore there are benefits to being Jewish in a Jewish state. Why is that a bad thing? Israel needs to work out its shit I don’t deny that. There are improvements needed. Like a lot. But they are not uniquely evil.
Palestinian is a national identity. Not an ethnic one. There is no cultural practice, language, or spiritual practice a Palestinian has that isn’t the same as an Arab in Jordan for example. Again, that doesn’t make it better or worse, but that’s a fact. Arafat was the one who created it as an identity to rally behind in the 60s. Before that, it just referred to anyone who lived in the mandate, regardless of ethnicity. Modern day Palestinians are likely a mixture of decendents of Jews who were forcefully converted, Egyptians, or of Arab conquerors. I do not think that means they do not belong there. They do. But so do Jews.
This is all to say yes there were and are still ancient cultures and religions that exist in the MENA region, but they have been diminished, discriminated against, and at times yes completely wiped out by the Arab conquests. There were times of relative “peace” as in no active wars, under some conquering forces, but I wouldn’t say that living as a second class citizen and paying a jizya tax, even in your own homeland, is exactly a wholly peaceful existence.
Semitic does not refer to a people. Never has. That’s a fact. The area became majority Arab because of conquests.
Arabs in the region have done more harm to Jews than Jews even have the capacity to do to them. The grand mufti was a pal of Hitler and agreed to help implement the final solution in the mandate of Palestine. Before modern day Israel existed btw. Do you really genuinely believe Jews would be safe in an Arab majority Palestinian state? When every single Palestinian leadership has been virulently antisemitic and openly state their genocidal intentions against us? Even before th nakba and before modern day Israel existed?
I genuinely believe we’d actually agree on a lot of things. But I don’t take kindly to people trying to rewrite Jewish history, define Judaism for me, a Jew, or make up their own facts based on a narrative they’ve chosen to live and die by that is based on the elimination of a country that is my ancient homeland and currently holds half the worlds Jewish population. My original post still stands. Christian and Muslim powers across the world have historically and currently made it their mission to eliminate Jewry from this world. And have successfully eliminated other ethnic indigenous minorities These days it’s in the name of “anti Zionism” which is just recycled Soviet antisemitic propaganda word for word. And i don’t take kindly to the likes of Ilhan Omar talking the way she does about Hindus, which I take as yet another example of the attempt to erase and diminish an ethnoreligion in the name of her own religion. IMO.
OH AND I JUST WENT TO YOUR BLOG YOU GENOCIDAL FREAK. YOUR PINNED POST LITERALLY WISHES DEATH TO ALMOST EVERY JEW ON THIS PLANET. And hear I am trying to make my point in good faith lol. Oh nooo a dirty Zionist interacted with your blog what are you gonna do about it

IMO.
we’re banning use of the phrase judeo-christian. there truly is no such thing. what people mean is christian interpretation of the old testament and all the ideas and ‘values’ they pushed onto the world for 2 millennia and they’re too lazy to distinguish that from the fundamentally different ethno-religious group christians took the book from in the first place
Do you think universalizing religions like Christianity and Islam are just jealous of enthnorelgions like Judaism and Hinduism and our deep cultural and land-based practices and beliefs bc they don’t get to be part of the “special” club and made their beliefs up off the back of Judaism, so they just demonize us with the goal of us disappearing so that all enthnoreligions will disappear so that they can take over and be truly universal or no
Guess I need to clarify something—this post was spurred on by comments Ilhan Omar made against Hindus. The rhetoric used by her against them is practically word for word what she and others throughout history have said about the Jews. India is accused of the same thing Israel is. Jews are accused of the same things Hindus are. Etc. The commonality between Jews and Hindus? We’re ethnoreligions. There is a pattern. I’m commenting on it.

Maybe I’m not in the right internet circles but can someone tell me one positive thing that has specifically benefited the Palestinians in Gaza or the WB that has come out of the pro-Palestine movement? And not “my local org raised $1000”, but like political or social or economic LASTING changes?
And not just in the past few years—I mean ever. This has been a movement for DECADES.
Bc I genuinely believe that the reason there hasn’t been anything accomplished, that has actually moved the needle, despite this being a massive and long lasting movement with celebrity and political supporters, is because the movement is focused on only a few things: appearances and popularity and the disenfranchisement (to put it lightly) of Jews (in Israel and abroad).
There are relatively simple things this movement could have accomplished many many years ago that would have placed the Palestinians in an amazing position to have had their own state by now if not be close to it.
Instead the movement has focused on the destruction of Israel and hatred against “Zionists” (regurgitation of Soviet Union propaganda down to the word) and appearing politically woke to the masses rather than actually DOING SOMETHING.
And no, electing mamdani and other DSA freaks who hate the “west” and openly support terrorist orgs is not doing anything for the actual Palestinian people who are suffering.
I’m just so fed up. Bc even ppl who think they are well-meaning and don’t believe they are leading with hate actually are, because the whole core of the pro pali movement isn’t about making positive changes. It’s about destruction. And self flagellation. Wrapped in progressive language to make you believe otherwise.
You hear the quote "they move millions in dark money to preserve their power and turn us against each other" and think it's from Nazi Germany or the KKK, but no! It's mayor of the most Jewish city in the diaspora Zohran Mamdani!
Do you think universalizing religions like Christianity and Islam are just jealous of enthnorelgions like Judaism and Hinduism and our deep cultural and land-based practices and beliefs bc they don’t get to be part of the “special” club and made their beliefs up off the back of Judaism, so they just demonize us with the goal of us disappearing so that all enthnoreligions will disappear so that they can take over and be truly universal or no
Hey. Hey goyim. Hey goyische followers. :))))))
The message you see repeatedly is that Jews are never allowed to have anything for themselves. Obviously, there is the grand tradition of Jewish property and money seizure, but also like. History. Food. Culture. Connection to a physical location on earth. Their temples. Their ancestry. It’s “greedy” for them to want… their stuff.
People really do not realize the implications of two major world religions being founded on "the Jews' religion and history and culture and homeland and art are ours, actually"

i'm legitimately curious, and struggling with a lot of thoughts relating to the war in Gaza. what do you think of the Hannibal Directive?
You've probably seen people online spouting nonsense like "Israel killed most of its own people on October 7th. The Hannibal Directive proves it. Hamas didn't do the massacre - Israel did."
Let's go over what the Hannibal Directive actually was, its status on 10/7/23, and how stories about it have been dishonestly spun.
The Hannibal Directive was issued in 1986. Here's what it actually said:
"A. During an abduction, the main mission becomes rescuing our soldiers from the captors, even at the cost of harming or injuring our own soldiers. B. If the captors and captives are identified and do not heed calls to stop, use small arms fire to bring down the captors or halt them. C. If the vehicle or captors do not stop, use aimed small arms fire to hit the captors, even if that means harming our own soldiers."
This isn't particularly controversial in principle. A captured soldier becomes a massive piece of political leverage, a tool for extortion, and a severe threat to national security - and accepting the risk of injuring your own people during a rescue attempt is a standard, tragic reality of combat. The underlying logic is standard across professional militaries.
Note that the directive as written applied specifically to soldiers. That distinction matters when we get to October 7.
From its inception, the directive was controversial within Israel. Some commanders refused to pass it down, as they were permitted to do under the Spirit of the IDF booklet. In 2011, Chief of Staff Benny Gantz clarified that the directive did not authorize deliberately shooting a captured soldier - it aimed to stop terrorists from escaping with them, not to kill the hostage. The directive was revised several times, with legal reviews consistently recommending every effort be made to avoid harming soldiers who were hostages.
In 2016, Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot officially cancelled it.
It was long gone on 10/7/23.
A Haaretz investigation, though, identified three specific instances where local commanders invoked a Hannibal-style order at points along the Gaza border: at the Erez crossing, the Re'im army base, and the Nahal Oz outpost.
The orders were primarily aimed at striking the gaps in the border fence and vehicles moving back into Gaza to stop the mass transfer of hostages. Because Hamas was taking civilian hostages, not soldiers -local commanders were adapting a soldier-focused doctrine on the fly, in chaos, without official authorization. That context matters for understanding what actually happened.
So what does the evidence actually confirm?
The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry confirmed at least 14 Israelis likely killed by IDF forces. The Be'eri incident (where a tank commander ordered fire on a house holding hostages, killing 13 of 14) is the most documented single case.
These deaths are real, they are serious, and the officers responsible should face accountability - that's the only acceptable reaction to a friendly fire incident.
At no point has any investigation found that the IDF deliberately targeted Israeli civilians.
Every documented IDF-caused death on October 7 occurred in the context of combat decisions made to stop Hamas from dragging hostages back into Gaza. These decisions were chaotic, unauthorized, and in some cases probably a bad call. A commander who orders fire on a vehicle he believes contains Hamas fighters and accidentally kills Israelis in the process has made a bad decision, but he has not committed a premeditated massacre of his own people.
There is no evidence -NONE WHATSOEVER - that the IDF identified Israeli civilians and chose to kill them. This claim exists solely to launder the responsibility of Hamas (and others from Gaza) for the atrocities visited upon Israeli civilians on 10/7/23.
The total October 7 death toll was approximately 1,200 Israelis. That number is documented and forensically verified. The 14+ deaths caused accidentally by the IDF are worth investigating and accountability should be sought- but they are not an alternative explanation for the massacre.
That's how Hamas supporters spun it.
In July 2024, when Haaretz published an investigation into Hannibal-style orders at those three military sites on October 7, this was journalism. Israeli reporters, using IDF documents and soldier testimony, holding their own military accountable for specific decisions made in specific locations.
The article did not claim Israel caused most of the deaths. It did not claim Hamas was innocent. It reported on a real institutional failure at the Erez crossing, Re'im base, and Nahal Oz outpost.
Within two weeks, that article had been shared over 16,000 times on X, almost entirely by accounts using it to argue that Israel, not Hamas, was responsible for the October 7 massacre.
Hamas supporters have elevated this sort of dishonesty to an art form: they take legitimate accountability journalism, remove every qualifier, delete the specific scope, and present it as proof of something the article explicitly does not claim and try to make the IDF responsible for the crimes committed by Hamas and other Gazans.
The people doing this aren't engaging with the Haaretz investigation. They're borrowing its brand as a prop to make the absurd allegation seem credible. It isn't - and anyone who actually read the article knows that.
The claim that Israel killed its own people on October 7 isn't a good-faith misreading of a complicated story. It's a conspiracy theory.
It takes a documented atrocity with 1,200 named victims, forensic evidence, and survivor testimony, and replaces it with a fairy tale where the Jews did it to themselves.
That's not skepticism. That's not "asking questions."
The people spreading this libel aren't engaging with the Haaretz story or the UN or any of the investigations they pretend to cite without having read them. They're using the language of accountability journalism to run interference for a massacre.
~6,000 people including Hamas, other militant groups, and Gazan civilians burned families alive, took 251 hostages, and committed widespread torture and sexual violence on October 7. That happened. The Hannibal Directive didn't make it happen. Israel didn't make it happen. Hamas made it happen.
They filmed themselves doing it, they livestreamed it, they called their families to brag about it, they celebrated it in Gaza, their leaders praised it and promised to repeat it. They want the credit for their massacre.
Only western useful idiots have any doubt - and their invocation of the Hannibal directive is how you spot them.
“you hate every artist for being pro-Palestine! they can’t be pro-Palestine without risking their careers! the Zionists try to silence them!” yeah no. everyone who’s done this, every single one, has spun it into a career boost which is a kinda nasty opportunistic way to treat a war they insist is a genocide. the media totally whitewashes the shit these celebrities say and pretends like it’s normal.
I don’t have a problem with artists being pro-Palestine, but ARE they? or are they anti-Israel even existing? are they antisemities who finally get to get away with it out loud? are they posting and repeating blood libel, misinformation, demonizing Israelis, calling Hamas “resistance,” and helping stoke the flames of Judenhass globally? show me where famous people like Susan Sarandon and Mark Ruffalo and whatever actor of the week Variety decides to post puff pieces and videos where they claim to be “against genocide” have helped at all or ever promoted peace? Julian Casablancas ranting about (((Zionists))) and being racist, how did that help Gaza? Kneecap got famous for worshipping terror orgs, have they helped Gazans? how about Hayley Williams and Lorde and the rest of the xenophobic crowd who pulled their music from Israel, or Emma Stone and everyone else who signed that film boycott list, did that materially impact Palestinians? no? wow how weird. it’s almost like they’re high on their own supply of a hate campaign. there’s also too many of these names to even remember any more yet barely any famous Jews are even able to say one word about antisemitism because they know what will happen if they do.
I’d love to see literally anyone on “Artists for Ceasefire” actually give a fuck about the ceasefire. I’d love to see any celebrity who claims to be pro-Palestine do that by being anti-Hamas and be able to hate Bibi without hating all Israelis and promoting Protocol type conspiracies. I’d love to see any of them support a better future of coexistence. it’s been nearly three years though and we haven’t seen that from any of the ones being the loudest.
