Something I desperately need leftists online to understand is that when conservatives talk about "elites", they aren't talking about billionaires or politicians or CEOs or whatever. They are talking about Jews. When you try to connect with conservatives by complaining about how the "elites" are controlling and ruining society, you are talking about Jews. You may not realize that (or maybe you do, leftists are also antisemitic as fuck), but that is what the racist conservative you're talking to is hearing. It ends up being a conversation about how Jews control the world and are ruining our lives for their own benefit, an extremely common and dangerous antisemitic conspiracy theory, all without ever saying the word Jew.
Sometimes using conservative language to connect with people helps build bridges and foster more understanding between communities. Sometimes it just means that you're picking up dogwhistles that become a normalized part of your vocabulary and can help radicalize you to bigoted extremism through the people and conversations that those dogwhistles attract.
If you have posts on your blog about "Zionists" controlling the media and ruining people's careers for criticizing Israel, then this post is also about you. You are not immune to falling for antisemitic conspiracy theories just because they say "Zionists" instead of "Jews" or "elites."

If you mean billionaires and CEOs and politicians, say that. "Epstein-class" and "elite" and "cabal" and shit is just antisemitic NWO stuff all over again.
God I miss when blatant antisemitism was a mark of the right wing. It was so much better when the only blatantly antisemitic people were expressing a wide variety of hate. It was more manageably discouraging.
Leftists: jews should learn from the holocaust
Jews: yeah thanks we did actually. we learned no one is ever going to come and save us and therefore we need our own state so we have the power to save ourselves so we can ensure that while the holocaust was not the first mass murder of jews it will be the last.
Leftists: ... not like that
they’ll say shit like that and then go “well jews shouldn’t need a state because they should be safe living everywhere else like the rest of us” like YEAH. and who’s fault is it that we’re not?? because it’s certainly not ours!
all leftists have ever ‘learned’ from the holocaust is that homophobia/racism bad. that’s truly it. and those concepts don’t extend to jews, so none of the homophobia or racism during that time had anything to do with jew hatred at all. we were barely involved in our own mass murder. that’s probably a big reason why they can never understand why anyone of us would feel like we need a state anywhere, because you can bet your ass they’d be just as upset if israel was established in europe.
The usual claim I've seen is that we are safe everywhere and the idea we aren't is Evil Zionist Brainwashing to convince us to be far right out of desperation and all they really need to do is "deprogram us" and convince us we're imagining the dangers.'' I've also seen, alternatively "have you tried wanting to be safe everywhere", as if the problem is us not wanting to feel safe and that lack of desire for safety anywhere but Israel is somehow causing us to imagine the whole "people who take no money from AIPAC and denounce the Israeli government are called AIPAC stooges and chased out of pride parades if they're Jewish" and "trying to kill Jewish preschoolers that live in America and have nothing to do with Israel is a sympathetic protest of Israeli policy" stuff.
Because naturally, Jews cannot be trusted to comprehend our own lived experiences when those lived experiences contradict what would be convenient for People Who Matter.
I’ve seen that a lot as well.
ofc if we’re NOT safe everywhere else then they’d have to contend with why so obviously we’re all just brainwashed or straight up lying out our asses. but jews are naturally evil anyway and we get paid to spread lies by Big Israel so. 🥴

As a kid, I wasn’t allowed to touch the hot stove with my bare hands. But now I get to do it whenever I want
ok but like. there are two different types of privilege. there's type a "everybody should have this, but some people don't" and type b "nobody should have this, but some people do"
there's having parents who can pay for your application to any college, and then there's having parents who can bribe your way into any college. there's owning your own home, and then there's owning 50 houses and getting rich off hoarding a vital resource. there's not fearing for your life whenever cops are around, and then there's being the cop and being allowed to murder anyone at any time.
idk i just feel like that's an important distinction to make.
dolly parton did so much good in this world. just because she cared. caring means so much. loving people and wanting to make the world a little better while you’re here matters so much.
the thing is that regardless of what you are trying to signal politically by the statement “harris would not have disappeared people to an el salvadoran gulag”, there is like a 99.99% probability that it’s objectively true and the fact that people are screaming and having meltdowns about it says A LOT.

That sound you hear is America collectively throwing up. This is like when Mr. Rogers died.
In 1990, the high school dropout rate for Dolly Parton's hometown of Sevierville Tennessee was at 34% (Research shows that most kids make up their minds in fifth/sixth grade not to graduate). That year, all fifth and sixth graders from Sevierville were invited by Parton to attend an assembly at Dollywood. They were asked to pick a buddy, and if both students completed high school, Dolly Parton would personally hand them each a $500 check on their graduation day. As a result, the dropout rate for those classes fell to 6%, and has generally retained that average to this day.
Shortly after the success of The Buddy Program, Parton learned in dealing with teachers from the school district that problems in education often begin during first grade when kids are at different developmental levels. That year The Dollywood Foundation paid the salaries for additional teachers assistants in every first grade class for the next 2 years, under the agreement that if the program worked, the school system would effectively adopt and fund the program after the trial period.
During the same period, Parton founded the Imagination Library in 1995: The idea being that children from her rural hometown and low-income families often start school at a disadvantage and as a result, will be unfairly compared to their peers for the rest of their lives, effectively encouraging them not to pursue higher education. The objective of the Imagination library was that every child in Sevier County would receive one book, every month, mailed and addressed to the child, from the day they were born until the day they started kindergarten, 100% free of charge. What began as a hometown initiative now serves children in all 50 states, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, mailing thousands of free books to children around the world monthly.
On March 1, 2018 Parton donated her 100 millionth book at the Library of Congress: a copy of "Coat of Many Colors" dedicated to her father, who never learned to read or write.
Dolly Parton could have been a billionaire 3 times over but actively chose to give her money away to cause after cause for charity. She was an incredible musician and artist but more importantly lived with compassion and kindness and with the drive to help those around her in every way she could. God I’m sad. The world lost one one of the greats today :(
Good morning! I’m salty.
I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.
This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.
You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.
“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.
If you’re not prepared to see adult content, created by and for adults, don’t fucking click through this. And if you do, for all that’s holy, don’t blame anyone else for it.
This needs to be reblogged today.
Consenting to see adult content doesn’t mean you should have to see a bunch of shit romanticizing incest and pedophilia you walnut
Except this is the last line of consent before the actual work. So if you’re at this button you have already done the following:
1) chosen to go onto AO3 in the first place
2) chosen the fandom you wish to read about
3) had the chance to filter for the things you do want to see like a specific pairing or a specific AU
4) had the chance to specifically filter out any tags you don’t want to see like, oh I don’t know, incest and non-con and dub-con and paedophilia
5) had the chance to set the rating level if you wish to remove any explicit content at all
6) have read the summary of the story, which aren’t always great but are the only indicator of what the story will be like writing wise so something about it was good enough for you to click on it.
7) have read the tags of the story which will tell you what is actually in the story. If you have used filters to remove stories with things you don’t want then there shouldn’t be anything in here that’s a shock to you but maybe there is. That’s why the tags are there for you to check for yourself.
8) Then you have to actually click on the story. You cannot see anything other than the summary or the tags without personally deciding that you are going to open and read this story.
9) Only here, at step number nine, do you get to the adult content warning pictured above. You have been through eight different steps, the last six of which have also been opportunities for you to see that this has adult content. And AO3 has *STILL* stopped you to ask one last time “are you sure you want to read this because it has things that only adults should see in it”.
If after this point you are reading incest and paedophilia then it’s probably because you specifically went looking for it.
You walnut.
This is the most beautiful thing that I have seen about ao3

having to hear people talk about how fake of a country Israel is when you know enough history and politics to know all the countries are fake.
there is nothing fake about Israel that isn't shared with other countries people acknowledge as real.
hell, learn about the attempted libertarian micro-states and Israel looks like a real actually functioning country.
Israel’s borders were decided by war, politics, and acts of cruelty, unlike borders across Europe, which were decided by the power of hugs and friendship and no one ever has problems with them :)
Talking to a friend about Old Internet and I cannot emphasize enough that when I say things used to be different, I mean that there was a time when every link carried the risk of putting a full-color photo of a man's gaping anus on your monitor and that was genuinely one of the better potential outcomes, okay?
