opening my followers every day and blocking the pornbots like a humble farmer pulling weeds from the vegetable garden. wiping my brow of sweat at my labours in the sweltering sun
In fact, even when they do fight, neither of them can last more than five minutes with being mad at each other.
But tonight, Y/N is mad.
Very, mad.
So much so that she doesn't even acknowledge Chan when she tumbles into bed. She pulls the duvet up to her chin aggressively and shuffles to the edge of the bed, trying to get as far away from his as possible.
But she makes sure she doesn't take too much of the duvet. Not that she cares, of course.
"Are you still going to ignore me?" Chan asks from the other side of the bed.
Y/N furrows her brow. She's sure she can hear amusement in his voice. Pompous, arrogant little bitc -
"It's just that I don't know if I'll be able to sleep without cuddles … " Chan continues. "I'm sure you won't be able to either. Hmm?"
Despite the pang in her heart, Y/N keeps silent. She reaches over and switches the lamp off to make a point and after a few seconds, Chan sighs before rolling over in his bed.
"Well, goodnight," Chan calls hopefully. He can't help but feeling sad as he shuts his eyes; his wife has never been this annoyed at him before, and he hates it. He internally beats himself up about it being his fault, and he mentally warns himself to be more careful next time.
Y/N isn't sure how much time has passed … maybe an hour? Two? Chan was right - she can't sleep. She thinks he's fallen asleep though, as he hasn't moved in the past … however long it's been.
She shivers. She's freezing, to say the least; the wind seems to be howling more than usual, and without Chan's arms wrapped around her like usual, Y/N has no way of heating up. She rubs her feet together; they feel like ice, and her teeth chatter violently.
Turning onto her back, Y/N tilts her head to stare at her husband. He's a little huddled up figure under the duvet, a mess of curls spilling onto the pillow. His back moves ever so slightly as he breathes, and Y/N bites her lip; truthfully, she doesn't feel angry at him anymore. She feels stupid and sorry, and she wants to erase the past couple of hours completely from the both of their minds.
But she's too stubborn, so she stays silent.
The cold seems to get the best of her a few moments later. She stretches her legs and gently tucks her feet in between Chan's legs; he doesn't stir at her movement so she stays laying like that, sure he's asleep.
Chan smiles to himself in the darkness. He hasn't slept yet, instead he waited to see how long it would take for Y/N to come back to him. Feeling her tentative limbs on his legs makes him grin so hard that his cheeks start hurting.
He wonders if he should keep quiet so that she doesn't move away from him. But he can't help it.
"My arms are available too, you know," Chan says.
With a gasp, Y/N pulls herself away and rolls away again. She clears her throat and Chan chuckles quietly to himself as he wraps his arms around himself.
"Come on, baby. It's been ages. Come here already," Chan pleads with her, and he turns around to face her. Her back is turned towards him and he reaches out to trace a finger down her back.
She tenses under his touch but looks over her shoulder and glares at him. "Leave me alone."
Chan sighs in defeat and drops his hand. He patiently waits again for her to make her next move, the man feeling completely awake.
Another hour passes before Y/N finally gives in. Her shivering gets worse as the night plunges on, and she wants nothing more than to curl up in her husband's arms. In fact, Chan has begun to shiver too, and she momentarily feels bad for him.
With a sigh, Y/N rolls over. She slowly puts a hand out onto his arm, and his eyes immediately snap open.
"Hey! What are you - ugh … " Y/N huffs as Chan pulls her into his arms; he holds her so tightly that Y/N gives up fighting him and instead, reluctantly, melts into his embrace.
"Took you long enough," Chan whines as he rubs her back frantically. He throws his legs over hers and traps her in warmth, barely even flinching at the iciness of her skin. "You stubborn thing. Don't do that again."
Y/N rolls her eyes. She's glad her face is buried in his chest; he can't see her smiling.
"I know you're smiling," Chan suddenly says and Y/N groans, making the man laugh some more. "You can't fool me, baby girl."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Y/N says as she wraps her arms around his waist. "I'm not hugging you because I missed you or anything. I'm cold. That's it."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say baby girl."
Chan grows quiet then as he strokes his fingers through Y/N's hair. He lowers his head so his eyes are level with hers, and Y/N blinks in surprise.
"I'm sorry for making you upset," Chan whispers, kissing her forehead. "I really do love you."
"I know," Y/N breathes, and tears start to prickle the backs of her eyes. "I'm sorry too. I wasn't really that mad … I just wanted to see how long I could be mad at you. I'm sorry."
"You - " Chan sighs and closes his eyes, but a smirk plays on his lips. "You do realise you owe me about five hours of kisses, right?"
Y/N smiles and she raises her chin to kiss him squarely on his plump lips. "Better start now then, huh?"

Huening Kai needs his blowjobs or relief of some kind. If not, he gets pouty. Ever since his first blowjob from you, he can’t stop asking you to do it again. It’s by no means an obsession (right?), it’s just every so often the thought of your hand wrapped around him and sucking him dry until he’s grabbing for the nearest object to hold onto comes up and he needs to cum. Oh and he’s the type to thank you every time you give him head :)
Yeonjun is a 50% humble and 50% cocky man that has a never ending love for receiving blowjobs. You get one or the other personality depending on how you feel when the subject of giving him head comes up. If you’re not in the mood to get on your knees, that’s cool, he assures you there’s no pressure. That’s humble Jun. Come to him wanting to suck him off and he will tease you for it first but bring you closer before you change your mind.
Beomgyu loves blowjobs and kinda expects a blowjob most times when you two get intimate. Sometimes you’ll be making out and eventually you or him will pull back and he’ll nudge you downwards. (You’re both really good at sensing what the other wants and it’s consensual and rarely feels forced. The rare case is whenever you may need to use a safe word because you think you haven’t talked about doing something enough for comfort and he’ll stop.) Other times he would seduce you into giving him a blowjob in places like his studio chair or in one of the in-wall closets in the practice room. Gyu will be inclined to return the favor faster than the two above.
Soobin LOVES blowjobs but would rather you initiate them. If you don’t, just spending time with you keeps him satisfied. He feels better when he knows he isn’t forcing you. 100% humble guy. He’ll probably mistakenly deny that you have to do it when you actually want to. You’ll have to reassure him quite a bit, but it will be worth it for both of you.
Taehyun is shy when it comes to any sexual activity so blowjobs are no different. That doesn’t mean he hates them but his shyness plays a significant factor in how much he likes them in my opinion. Expect his eyes to be closed or him staring down at you when your head is down. Eye contact unless it’s right before he cums will make him wanna hide in his own skin.
warning(s): nsfw under the cut!! (mdni), use of the word “bunny” as a pet name, slight dumbification, possessiveness, soobin is aggressive, soobin with a chain
part 1
something changed in your relationship, for the better, when soobin would spontaneously let you wear his chain
it brought something out in soobin that he didn’t know was there, a mix of pure love and possessiveness
soobin never realized how possessive of you he was until he saw another man touch you when you were wearing his necklace
he felt like such a pervert, shamelessly checking you out every chance he got while you swam around the pool. he couldn’t help himself though, the way the water moved around your body and the way the bikini hugged your shape was driving him mad.
the icing on the cake however was the necklace sitting between your boobs - his necklace to be exact. he had slipped it around your neck this morning before going to the pool, he wanted to leave his mark on you without leaving an actual mark.
however the boys swimming around you didn’t seem to get the hint that you were taken, even after you shot them down over and over again. the thing that finally pushed soobin over the edge though, was when one of them had grabbed the necklace, his necklace, to yank you towards them.
with a frown on his face soobin gets into the pool rather quickly and grabs ahold of the hand that held onto the chain. with all the strength in his body, soobin pulls the guys fingers off the necklace and shoved him back to get between the two of you.
“if you ever put your hands on my girl like that again i will fuck your shit up.” your eyes widen, never hearing soobin be so aggressive before.
“soob..” your voice was soft as you wrap your arms around his waist and rested your face in between his bare shoulders. the tension in his body quickly dissipates at the feeling of your hands on his body.
“we’re leaving.” he mumbled as he pulls your arms from around him and leads you out of the pool.
the first time soobin saw you wear his chain, he lost his mind
it was only 9:30 in the morning and you both had somewhere to be but he didn’t care as he bent you over the kitchen counter and fucked you dumb
“look at my dumb fucking bunny, so pretty with my necklace on.” the grip he had on your hips was bruising, his fingernails digging deep crescents into the flesh. “gonna fill you so full of my cum, every inch of your body will be marked by me.” you only clenched harder around him.
soobin has never been one for making a mess, but the first time he ever sees his cum dripping down your face and onto his necklace it made his mind go fuzzy
now he loves to make a mess
“god bunny your mouth feels so good.” soobins hips stutter a little as his grip on your hair tightens. “just keep swallowing like that.” he pants, his hips quickening in pace. just as he was about to cum you tapped his hip, needing to breath.
“f-fuck bunny no.” just as he pulled out to let you take a breath, his cum shoots out and covers your face and boobs. “i-i’m so sorry baby.” he looks a little panicked but the second his eyes land on your chest, the silver of his necklace shining amidst all his cum, he felt his dick twitch and a lump formed in his throat.
“fuck..” he whispers as you giggle at his reaction. “do you wanna cum on my face again?” all he can do is nod quickly as he watches you get to work on his dick again, trying to drag another orgasm from him.
you never realized just how good it felt for soobin when you would pull on his chain until he did it to you
when you don’t give him the attention he wants/deserves he’ll pull on the chain just like you do to him
you’re at a party, talking with your friends and completely ignoring soobin. it’s not like you were doing it on purpose, well maybe you were. he did leave you when you two got there so he could go talk to his own friends.
“baby.” he’d start whining at your side, his arms going around your waist and tugging you into his chest. despite his constant whines and kisses you keep talking to your friends, acting like he doesn’t exist.
huffing in annoyance he lets you go and crosses his arms, a pout forming on his lips. when you move your hair off your neck, soobin catches sight of his necklace and an idea pops into his head. a mischievous smile spreads across his face as he reaches for the chain and wraps his fingers around it, tugging it kind of hard he draws a yelp from you before his lips crash to yours.
“pay attention to me.” he growls against your lips, causing you to whine. instantly your legs clamp shut causing him to smirk. “aw does my bunny need attention now?” he mumbles as he pulls away from your mouth to watch you nod, a blush spreading across your face.
he loves mirror sex, even more so now that you wear his chain a lot
the way it bounces against your chest when he’s fucking your from behind makes him bust quick
“look at my dumb bunny, so fucking stupid can’t even hold herself up.” he spits as he has one arm wrapped around your waist and the other rubbing your clit. “look at you.” he groans into your ear as he picks up his pace.
when you don’t move your head from his shoulder he stops rubbing at you clit, causing you to whine in frustration. but quickly your shushed when he grabs ahold of your face with his fingers covered in your juices.
“i said look.” he growls, his thrusts becoming harder as his hips slap against your ass. at the sight of your ruined appearance your eyes roll into the back of your head and a lewd moan falls from your lips.
soobin is quick to react the same way as you after watching the chain slap against your boobs with each of his sloppy thrusts. your pussy clenches down hard when he hits your g-spot just right causing his hips to stutter.
“fuck bunny.” he mumbled before biting down on your shoulder to muffle his moans as he drags another orgasm from the both of you.

GAAAHHHHH been thinking abt perv mark fantasizing abt his s/o having big tiddies n just nutting all over it n moaning w his deep voice………. no i’m not creaming myself i swear
okay okay, imagine this,
sleeping in a bed together, mark had pulled away from you and kicked the blanket off his legs— too hot and didn’t want to be touched.
you sat up when hearing mark whimper, you were a light sleeper and a little noise would stub you awake. you’d turn to see mark still asleep.
weird, you thought.
you sat up and watched just to see if he’d do anything else. your body fully turns when seeing him reach down and grab his crotch— a whimper creaks from his throat.
“m—markie?” you’d shake him softly but he doesn’t budge. “markie, wake up.” the man moans which causes you to gasp.
in marks mind, he heard your voice but it was playing in his dream. instead of worry, it was moaning.
“markie,” you moan, pushing your tits together as his cock slips past your slippery valley. “markie,” you’d moan again, sticking your tongue out as he groans. his cock twitching between your breasts.
mark moans and shoots his strings of cum onto your tongue and chin. “o—ooohh,” mark moans, gasping for air.
“—mark! you’re scaring me!” mark jolts out of his slumber and stares up at you with huge eyes— his eyes quickly squinting when feeling the light of your lamp shine into his pupils. “why the hell were you crying? o—or, m—moaning?!” your voice trails off in a shy way.
you notice marks eyes moving down to your breasts that squeezed in his shirt. “i had um, a.. uh,” mark stammers, swallowing his saliva quickly as his throat dries up.
“a nightmare? were you getting your dick chopped off or something— you kept grabbing at it?!” mark groans, covering his face as he chuckles and turns to his side. “no, baby— let’s just go to bed.” you frown wanting to know why he was whimpering.
“turn the light off and lets go to bed.” he’d say with his deep sleepy voice. you’d reach over and turn the lamp off before climbing between his arms where he’d then bury his face between your breasts.
—okay this wasn’t supposed to be long but y’know what, it’s fine.

The tall buildings and busyness of these streets could easily be compared to the business district despite their obvious differences. You walked at a fast pace, your heels clicking onto the concrete sidewalk below your feet as you followed a red line on your phone. If your app was correct, it would take you five more minutes to reach Heeseung’s building.
It had been a couple of days since you last saw him. After the incident at his engagement party, you were swarmed with work and he stopped showing up at the office making it impossible to process or bring up what had happened when he left.
Sunghoon told everyone he was sick with a cold and that he wasn’t well enough to come to the office. In the last couple of meetings, you had been accompanying him on Heeseung’s behalf and taking notes on everything that was going on so you could later inform him once he felt better.
However, your visit to his apartment this morning was not about work. Still, you were sure to bring it up if the conversation stalled or if things became too awkward between the two of you. It was bound to be awkward. After all, the lines you so desperately tried to keep in place had become murkier, too thin, too blurry.
The two of you were constantly crossing them, tiptoeing around the feelings you both shared for one another but were too scared to admit out loud. And still, Heeseung had done it. Whether he had made it on purpose or not, his last words to you that night had been I love you. You wanted to blame it on the alcohol, you wanted to shut down the hope that bubbled inside of you hoping that he meant those words. You couldn’t. Because you wanted to believe he had meant it.
After all, you loved him too.
Still, this was a feeling you’d keep buried down for a while longer. Revealing it, admitting it out loud to him would make everything harder on the two of you. Right now, you couldn’t afford that. You couldn’t afford the storm that was going to hit Heeseung, but you could afford to keep him from having to deal with your feelings as well.
As you approached the entrance of Heeseung’s building, you made sure your outfit was presentable. You fixed the bag on your shoulder, the shirt and jacket and took a deep breath before making your way to the security guard at the small counter near the entrance door. As soon as you approached him, he greeted you with a polite bow and a happy smile.
“Good morning, Miss. How can I help you?”
“I am here to see Lee Heeseung? I come on Park Sunghoon’s behalf. I’m Y/N, Heeseung’s assistant.”
The guard nodded and you extended him your ID as he checked your information. Your eyes traced the light brown lines on the marble walls, the small golden details from the buttons near the elevators and the letterboxes on the opposite wall. It felt like you had walked into a hotel and not into a residential building. Still, once you had lived in a building like this one, so you couldn’t say you were particularly surprised or impressed.
“It’s on the twentieth floor, second door on the right. His housekeeper will open the door for you. I’ll call her announcing your arrival.”
You saved your ID card and after thanking the man, you made your way to Heeseung’s apartment. As the elevator went up you focused on the number increasing above the doors in front of you, trying your best to put your thoughts in order, your words ready for when you saw him.
However, as soon as you found his apartment door and rang the bell, all of your plans came crashing down as your heart jumped in your chest. From the inside, someone opened the door and an old woman glanced at you, her worried expression melting into a happy smile.
“You must be Y/N.” You nodded and smiled at her. “Ah, please come on in.”
She stepped aside for you to enter and you slowly entered Heeseung’s apartment, unsure of what to do. She gestured you to follow her and you did, always looking at your feet as you did so.
“Heeseung woke up late today, you see? He’s still getting ready.” She walked towards the impeccably white kitchen, opening the fridge to store some containers inside. “Can I prepare you anything? Have you had breakfast yet?”
“I’m ok, thank you.” You gestured to one of the stools near the kitchen island. “Can I… sit there? Where does Heeseung like his guests to wait?”
She stopped what she was doing and glanced at you, confused. You gulped and fixed the bag on your shoulder, unable to look her in the eyes. Even though you were trying your best to hide your nervousness, his housekeeper quickly caught onto it. She sighed and offered you a kind smile.
“Heeseung doesn’t receive a lot of guests… I am always happy when someone visits him.” Her smile faded as she got lost in her thoughts. “He has been pretty down these past few days… I decided to cook him some of his favourite dishes. Hopefully, that will cheer him up a bit!”
As you were about to answer her, a door behind you creaked and you quickly turned around to see who it was. Heeseung walked towards the kitchen with his hair wet and a towel around his waist, shirtless. Your eyes widened at the sight and your heartbeat increased in your chest.
“Is my outfit ready?” He asked his housekeeper who seemed unbothered by what she was witnessing. You cleared your throat and pursed your lips together, glancing at the view outside of his windows, hoping it would help you calm down. “Oh… Y/N… I…”
You were too stunned to speak that you tried to smile at him, your eyes glancing at his naked torso momentarily before you grew too hot once again.
“I… should have… called… maybe…?” You bit your lower lip and glanced at his housekeeper. She witnessed the scene with delight, not even making an effort to hide it.
“Your suit is ready, yes. You can find it in your bedroom, like always. I will prepare you a coffee in the meantime.”
“Thank you.”
When you turned to look at where Heeseung was, you expected to find it empty. Instead, you found him looking back at you, flustered and unsure of what to do. He cleared his throat and gestured to the couch in the living room, scratching the back of his neck afterwards.
“You can make yourself at home. I’ll meet you in a bit.”
“Thank you.” You bowed to him but lifted your eyes to see if he moved. Reluctantly, he made his way across the corridor and walked into a room, closing the door behind him.
You took a deep breath and made your way to the couch, taking your time to glance at the different objects he had around the place, trying to get a glimpse into who he was beyond the man he presented himself to be.
However, when you caught yourself reading the titles of the movies displayed on the shelf next to his TV, you decided not to do it as it wasn’t appropriate. You sat on the couch and tried to get distracted by checking your phone notifications, making sure no one had tried to contact you from the office. Thankfully, the only message you had was from Jake, asking you how you were doing. As usual, you told him you were doing fine, but you knew he wouldn’t be convinced by that.
Can I call you at lunch? Are you busy today?
You sighed and bit your lip. You weren’t sure how long this encounter with Heeseung would last, and you didn’t know how your afternoon would be, so you weren’t sure what you would tell him. Before you could answer him, Heeseung was walking towards the kitchen island and you stood up from the couch, saving your phone in your purse. His eyes met yours and he fixed the tie around his neck, his lips slightly parted in surprise as he looked at you from head to toes.
“I thought Sunghoon was meeting me this morning.”
His words weren’t harsh, but they cut through you like a knife. You gulped and tried to offer him a polite smile.
“His schedule is quite packed with meetings today. We agreed I would come and check up on you. You… haven’t been in the office in a couple of days…”
His housekeeper said her goodbyes to both you and Heeseung and left to clean his bedroom to give you some privacy. He nodded and sat by one of the kitchen island stools, taking a sip from his coffee. “How are things going at the company?”
“I… didn’t come to inform you on company matters this morning. I came to check up on you. What have you been doing these past few days?”
Your question was dumb and quite intrusive, but asking him how he was doing wouldn’t take you anywhere. You could feel the distance between the two of you growing once again, the lines becoming clearer. Although that should bring you some peace of mind, all it brought was discomfort.
“I have been… reading. And watching TV… Looking at… my company’s stocks plummeting. Eating as well. Crying sometimes. Alone.” He looked at you, serious. “And drinking occasionally. I’m not proud of either of these things. But I… I don’t know how to cope.”
“I understand.”
He nodded, knowing that you meant what you were saying. After all, five years ago you were in a similar situation. People wrote articles about you and your family, your world fell apart in the blink of an eye, and you became despised by everyone. You had been lucky when you escaped to your grandmother’s house. You were barely an adult. Heeseung however, didn’t have that luck. He couldn’t escape his problems while someone handled them on his behalf.
“How did you deal with it? How did you stop yourself from reading article after article, from falling into this vicious cycle of blame?” He shook his head, defeated. “Does it ever stop? Will it ever stop?”
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop.” You admitted and sighed, making your way towards him. “You just learn to ignore it. It becomes background noise.”
“How?” His eyes glanced at your lips before finding your eyes again. You smiled.
“You accept you’re more than what they write about you. You acknowledge that your worth is not attached to what you own. You learn that you are valuable beyond all of this. It takes time. But you’ll get there. You’re Lee Heeseung, after all.”
He nodded, relaxing slightly at your words. Then, his smile increased and your eyes glanced at his lips. You couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to kiss him.
“I’m only Lee Heeseung because of you. It has always been you, Y/N. Today and,” he sighed, licking his lips, “five years ago as well. You’re the reason why I am who I am today.”
Heeseung kept his eyes on you as you slowly came to terms with his words. Your smile faded slightly as your eyes widened, never looking away from his.
“What do you mean?” You took one step backwards, shaking your head in confusion. “You remember me? Since when?”
This time, it was his turn to be stunned by your words. Heeseung stood up from his stool, trying to understand what you were telling him.
“We met five years ago. You… helped me find funding so I could start my company. Back then, you were the only person who believed in me. I never forgot that.” He let out a nervous laugh, afraid to put his entire heart on display for you. “I never forgot you. When you left without saying anything I was… hurt. I never expected you to be back. But then, one night, Sunghoon told me you were back and I hoped we’d cross paths again. I thought we’d do it at parties or events but it happened at my office.”
“So you’ve always known who I was?” He nodded, pursing his lips. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“What could I possibly say to you?” Heeseung sighed, conflicted. “You… didn’t remember me. Besides, it had been five years. People change. You’ve changed. I did too. A lot.”
When Heeseung met you five years ago, you were vastly different. You were loved and cherished by strangers, put on pedestals by doing the most mundane of things, whereas Heeseung was trying his hardest to get some ounce of recognition for his hard work, for the vision he had for a company. Whereas everyone had laughed at him, you took him seriously and you helped him. You didn’t have to, but you did. You had made that choice. And Heeseung had made a similar choice when he pretended he didn’t know you.
“I didn’t remember you when we first met,” you admitted, looking at your feet. “Only recently did I… did I understand who you were.” You shook your head and looked at him, your eyes slightly watery, your smile trembling. “Thank you, Heeseung. For… pretending you didn’t know who I was when you saw me again.”
He didn’t think twice before walking towards you and pulling you into his embrace, your body tensing up under his touch. He patted your back softly, unsure of what this was supposed to mean. Was he hugging you because you needed it or was he hugging you because he needed it?
Soon enough, your relaxed body relaxed and your arms wrapped around his torso, a sigh escaping your lips as you did so. Heeseung closed his eyes, aware of his heart jumping in his chest, his mind running wild with thoughts that had no ending or beginning, simply there to be shoved away so the next one could step forward and have the same ending.
When Heeseung opened his eyes, he saw your head leaned against his body, your eyes closed as you smiled softly at yourself. He tried his best to keep this moment safe in his memory, unsure if he’d ever get to be this close to you ever again. He hoped he could. He wanted to.
Not just a hug, not just a soft smile. He wanted so much more than that. He needed to let you know that. If he was putting his heart on display for you, he might as well show the secrets he kept hidden inside.
Heeseung took a deep breath and pursed his lips, thinking about the best way to let you know how he felt towards you. There was no simple way to admit that he had always been in love with you, now more than ever. And yet, it had to be done. He could no longer keep all of this to himself.
“Y/N, I–”
His words were cut short by the sharp noise of your phone ringing. You quickly opened your eyes and glanced at him, your eyes widening in shock as you moved away from him, startled. You gave Heeseung a double-take as you walked towards your bag, your steps erratic. He was afraid you’d trip on the carpet and fall.
“I’m sorry.” He wasn’t sure what you were referring to. You gestured to your bag. “I should take this call. It might be important.”
“Go ahead.”
He took a deep breath and fixed his tie as he made his way back to the counter, grabbing his coffee and chugging it down in one go, mentally slapping him for what he had almost done. He couldn’t burden you with his feelings. Not with everything else you were going through. However, could he be burdened with this truth alone? Or were hidden feelings for him something you carried alone as well?
“Right now?” You stopped walking and turned around to face Heeseung, worried. “I can ask him if he’s willing to go. What’s the matter, though?”
You carefully focused your attention on the person talking to you on the other side of the line, biting your lip. Heeseung gulped and tried to avoid keeping his eyes on you for too long, but he couldn’t avoid it.
“We’ll be there in,” you glanced at the watch on your wrist, “twenty minutes.”
He raised an eyebrow at you as you grabbed your bag from the couch, walking towards him.
“I know that. By car, we’ll take longer.” You offered a comforting smile to Heeseung. “We’ll get there using the subway. I don’t care, Sunoo… Do you want us there in time or not?”
Heeseung always got surprised whenever he got to glimpse this side of yours. You were always direct and assertive in every single one of your statements, but sometimes, you were a little ruthless with your words. He quickly learned that it meant you were certain and passionate about the matter. A small cue that very few picked up on, but one that Heeseung never ignored and always looked for.
“What is it?” He asked when you saved your phone in your bag.
“We have to get to the office quickly.” You placed the strap over your shoulder and looked at Heeseung, worried. “Jongseong called an emergency board meeting to try to persuade the main investors into making him the next president. Sunoo just called to let me know.”
This was bad. Terrible. Heeseung was sure Jongseong would use everything and anything he had against Heeseung to make his case stronger. This was the perfect opportunity. His public image was not great at the moment but Jongseong’s remained perfectly intact. Theoretically, he was perfect to take the president position. But practically, he didn’t know how to lead. He only knew how to torment people to get what he wanted.
“Do you thi–”
“If you’re asking me if he has any chance, I don’t know. It depends on how much dirt he has on you.” You took a deep breath and gulped. “What I know is that I have to get you there in time for the board meeting. We’ll take the subway because it’s faster. Are you ok with that?”
“Of course.” He nodded and offered you a sympathetic smile. “Let’s get going, then.”
Getting Heeseung into the office wasn’t as complicated as you initially anticipated. The two of you got to the subway station quickly, you got him a ticket and in a couple of minutes were on your way to the office.
Since it was rush hour, the two of you had to ride a busy carriage, crammed together with strangers that, just like you, were heading to work. The two of you stood next to each other, your hand brushing softly against his as you tried to keep your balance. Every time the subway stopped, you leaned slightly towards Heeseung and his hand found the end of your back to prevent you from stumbling backwards. You’d whisper him a polite thank you, feeling extremely flustered afterwards, worried that he would notice it.
However, he was too distracted observing the people around you and you were too distracted taking in the beauty of his features, the comfort of his presence. If the hug you shared at his apartment had taught you anything, it had been that you were desperately yearning for more. It was a dangerous desire but it was one you could no longer refute.
When you reached your stop, Heeseung didn’t think twice before holding your hand and helping the two of you push through the crowd to find yourselves in the subway platform walking at a fast pace up the stairs while he still held your hand. It was a simple gesture but one you’d think about for the rest of the day, probably.
Soon enough, you were together in the elevator on your way to the office. Heeseung fixed his suit and the tie around his neck and you composed yourself too discreetly, trying not to garner too much attention. However, the same way you had admired Heeseung during the subway ride, he was taking his time to look at your features, smiling softly as he did so.
“Do you need anything?” You tried to not make a big fuss about the situation, but you were out of breath. Your heartbeat increased when his eyes met yours and he glanced at your lips.
“I know you haven’t prepared for this meeting, but I’d like you to be present. Your assistance and help would be greatly appreciated.”
You nodded, biting your lower lip. If this was a regular meeting, you wouldn’t have thought twice about accompanying Heeseung. After all, it was normal for you to do so. But this wasn’t a regular one and you knew Jongseong would use everything he could against him to make his point. That included you and what the media had written about you and your possible relationship with Heeseung.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Heeseung.” His smile faded slightly as confusion took over his features. “I think my presence might be used against you. He might use the media perception of… us to get his point across. I think the best way to assist you this time is to not assist you at all.”
The elevator finally reached your floor and the two of you stepped outside. In the small lobby, Sunghoon and Sunoo were pacing around, glancing at their watches, exchanging worried looks. As soon as they saw the two of you, they sighed in relief and Sunghoon walked towards Heeseung, patting him on the shoulder.
“I told you we’d arrive in time.” Sunoo nodded at your comment and bowed at Heeseung. “How bad is it?”
Sunghoon took a deep breath and gave his friend a worried look before looking at you. He gulped. “It’s not looking good. People are upset that the stocks’ value keeps going down and that we haven’t done anything about it. I’m sure he’ll use Heeseung’s absence in a time of crisis to fuel his campaign into becoming the new president.”
“He might have not been present but I was on his behalf. He took important decisions and didn’t turn his back on the company.”
“It’s not the same thing, Y/N.” Sunghoon crossed his arms. “They see you as his assistant. It doesn’t matter how much he trusts you or how highly he thinks of you, if they don’t see Heeseung in the meeting room, then he is not there.”
“He’s right.” Heeseung’s words were sombre. The four of you exchanged worried looks and you couldn’t help but feel your heart jumping in your chest, crushing under the weight of what could happen next. “Y/N suggested that she shouldn’t be with me at the meeting. I see now that is the best choice.”
“Sunoo can assist you, though.” Sunghoon quickly stated, trying to offer a kind smile to his friend. He then turned to look at you and playfully winked, trying to lighten the mood. “I’ll keep an eye on Y/N on your behalf. She’ll be alright.”
“I’ll be at my desk.” You dryly answered and Sunghoon understood the message. The last thing you wanted to do was add fuel to the fire that already burned too bright for your taste.
“I’ll come and meet you as soon as the meeting ends.”
At first, you thought Heeseung was talking to Sunghoon. It was only when you realised he had his eyes on you, searching for something, that you realised he was speaking to you.
“As I said,” you offered him a polite smile, “I’ll be at my desk.”
It wasn’t the answer nor the gesture you wanted to give him. If there weren’t that many people watching, you would have hugged him. You would have whispered he’d be fine. You would have taken in his comforting embrace, hoping that to him, your embrace was just as delightful and cathartic as his was to you. However, you couldn’t do that. A smile would have to do.
It had to do.
The meeting ended up lasting longer than Heeseung expected. What he thought would be solved after lunch, ended up lasting until the sun was already out. He could barely breathe in this room. Everyone kept his eyes on him as Jongseong spat out the best of his arguments, painting Heeseung as a villain that needed replacement. His image was tired, dull, damaged. He was broken. No longer a good president for this company.
Jongseong, however, presented himself as the solution. He was the major stockholder after Heeseung so he also had a lot to lose if the company started to collapse. After dragging Heeseung through the mud, he spent most of the afternoon presenting slideshows with graphs and images of the company’s growth with Heeseung and what it could be without him.
It was exhausting and extremely draining. Any point Heeseung made was easily refuted. Not by Jongseong, though, but by those who were already on his side.
Heeseung heard from everything this afternoon. It reminded him of when he looked for funding for his company. He wasn’t good enough, he wasn’t experienced enough. He hadn’t grown up surrounded by wealth so he couldn’t possibly know how it worked. He let them all talk while he kept his cool throughout the entire meeting. And when the voting came, Heeseung was certain he would be voted off the chairman position. However, Jongseong had other plans. Despicable ones.
“I think we should reflect. All of us.” He stood up from his chair, smiling charmingly at every single person in this room. “I am sure Heeseung has a lot to think about. After all, he might be able to save his position. We have pinpointed exactly when this issue started, am I right?”
Everyone nodded in agreement, exchanging soft murmurs with one another. Heeseung kept a serious expression when Jongseong looked at him, victoriously.
“I feel like a week should be enough for you to decide what side you are on, Heeseung. Is it the company, or is it your… assistant?”
The word came out of Jongseong’s mouth as if it was filled with poison, forbidden to even mention out loud. Heeseung wanted to answer them, to let them know that he had no plans to fire you. That your existence, your presence in this company had nothing to do with his shortcomings and mistakes. If anything, you were helping him. You had only helped him ever since you got here. You were the best assistant Heeseung ever had.
Still, he had to buy himself some time. Jongseong thought he was about to win this war, but Heeseung would simply let him win this battle. There was more to come.
If he wanted to play dirty and dig up everyone’s past to put on display to shame, Heeseung would find a way to show a mirror to Jongseong’s face. Maybe he’d wake up then.
When the meeting finally came to an end, everyone left one by one after Jongseong. Heeseung remained in his seat, playing with the pen in his hand, allowing the silence to calm down his thoughts. He met every glare thrown his way with harshness, but he didn’t give more than that away.
“Do you need anything else?” Sunoo’s voice brought him back to reality and he turned to glance at him, shaking his head.
“You’re free to go, Sunoo.” He gestured to the door. “Leave the notes at my desk. I’ll look over them tomorrow.”
Sunoo bowed to him with a polite smile and quietly left the meeting room, leaving Heeseung alone. He glanced at his watch and chuckled. It was quite late and he hadn’t had dinner yet but he wasn’t hungry at all. All he wanted to do was get home, take a shower and drown his sorrows in something. He wasn’t sure what it would be tonight.
Bad articles about him? A glass of whiskey?
He messed his hair and rubbed his face sending all of these thoughts away. After a long and painful sigh, he stood up from his chair and left the meeting room, turning off the lights on his way out. Outside, the city was glistening with lights, bursting with loud traffic, but Heeseung couldn’t care less about it. He wanted the peace and quiet of being alone. Not that he ever had company for that matter.
As he made his way back to his office, he saw most of the desks empty, the lights softly dimmed as he was probably the only one left. He took a deep breath and fixed the tie around his neck, looking down at his feet as he made his way to his office.
He stopped with his hand on the handle and turned around to face your desk, hoping to find it empty. However, you were still here. He didn’t expect to appreciate this small gesture so much.
You cleared your throat and stood up from your chair, looking at him with concern. “How did it go? How… are you feeling?”
It felt strange for him to hear this tone of voice in you. He had met your certain self, your professional self, your vulnerable self. But right now, Heeseung was witnessing your caring self. You cared about him. Why did he find that so surprising?
“I am tired. It was,” he sighed, “a pretty long meeting.”
You nodded, smiling softly at him. “Is there… anything you need from me?” Heeseung shook his head, offering you a kind smile.
“Not right now. You should head home and rest. You’ve had a long day too. Have a good night.”
Your lips parted as if to tell him something else, but Heeseung pushed his office door open and stepped inside, surrounding himself with silence once again. He saw Sunoo’s meeting notes on his desk and gulped. If you went over these notes tomorrow morning, then you would know about the ultimatum that had been proposed to Heeseung.
As he grabbed some of his belongings to exit his office, his eyes met your figure outside as you slowly stored your items in your bag and put your desk in order for the next day. When you were done putting your jacket on, you glanced at Heeseung and he quickly turned around, fixing the tie around his neck only to loosen it a few seconds later. He waited for you to knock, maybe wish him a good night but when he turned around, you were already gone.
Quickly, he exited his office, turned off the lights and made his way to the elevator at a fast pace. He wasn’t sure why he was doing this, or why his heart was jumping from his chest, but he knew if he didn’t do this now, there was a very big chance he would never be able to do it.
When he reached the elevators, he didn’t see you there and gulped, worried. Through his peripheral vision, he saw one of the elevators’ doors closing and without thinking twice, he pressed the button and the doors opened again, revealing you inside. You slowly lifted your eyes from your phone to greet Heeseung with a confused expression. He was more out of breath than he expected.
“Do you need anything?” You saved your phone in your purse and exited the elevator, walking towards him. He kept his eyes on you, trying to calm this sudden burst of confidence building up inside of him. Here he was again about to cross the boundaries he tried so hard to keep in place when he was with you.
“It’s ok if you say no,” he started, “I don’t want to pressure you into something you don’t want to do.” He took a deep breath and when his eyes met yours, he couldn’t help but smile. “I was wondering if you’d like to have dinner with me. Tonight.”
Waiting for your answer lasted an eternity. Heeseung watched as you kept your confused gaze on him, your lips parting in slight surprise.
“Would you like to… discuss the meeting over dinner? Is that… what you’re asking?”
“No, I’m not asking that.” You raised an eyebrow and he took a step towards you. “I simply want to have dinner with you. I feel like there’s a lot we should talk about. Besides work.” Heeseung wasn’t fully certain if you understood what he was telling you so he decided to clarify it just one more time. “I am asking you out, Y/N.”
“Oh.” Your eyes widened slightly and you cleared your throat, looking at your feet. “Oh.”
This request was coming five years later than Heeseung would’ve liked, but it was finally out for you to deal with. Maybe you would turn him down and that would tell Heeseung that his feelings for you were not reciprocated and that he should move on. But there was also the chance you would accept his invitation. That wouldn’t mean you reciprocated his feelings but it gave him a chance to be with you for a little longer and to get to know you better as well. He so desperately wanted you to see him as more than just the man you worked for.
“I… hm… know a local restaurant that has pretty good food… for my taste, that is.” You bit your lower lip and lifted your eyes to face him, smiling. “But I think you’d like it. Can I… take you there?”
“Of course. Of course, you can.”
His heart burst with relief. Today hadn’t started as he expected and his meeting at the company had drained him of everything. It had made him believe that he should spend his evening alone, feeling sorry for himself.
However, now that he knew he was having dinner with you, he even felt hungry. And now that he knew he would spend his evening with you, he felt less lonely.
And that was enough right now. After everything, this was enough.
precis. all the reasons why you should date sunghoon — a guide by sunghoon himself ( wc. ≃ 2.8k )
genre. fluff, humor, mutual pinning, friends to lovers
warnings. profanities, sunghoon's very bad attempt at asking you out, slightly suggestive at the end, food mentions, sunghoon is a lil' shit, mentions of stress due to school ( who r we even kidding ) ps. i ran this thru editor but if u still still spot mistakes, pls forgive me ty </3
note. always count on tumblr to ruin your headers <3 anyway, happy reading !
even though he acts like a love god, sunghoon is actually a failure in the love department of life.
it’s embarrassing, funny and pitiful at the same time to watch him confess to you— or rather, talk about how much of a blessing he is to this earth, and that you should be honoured for he’s offering you the golden opportunity to date him.
so just like always, sunghoon finds himself sitting next to you before classes, a soft smile dancing on his lips. one may find it painful to not be in the same class with their crush but sunghoon, he doesn’t care. you can always spot him next you before and after classes, during lunch, from home to school and back, even more. and as much as he wishes people would assume you both are dating, there’s only one rumour that spins in the air— sunghoon doesn’t have any shame, and you don’t have the guts to accept your feelings towards him.
but cut to the base line, the truth is a whole another story.
“we should date, y’know?” sunghoon smirks, pointing at you and himself simultaneously as he leans further on the desk next to you for a better look at your face. “you and me.”
you sigh, leaning against the chair. “sunghoon, it’s eight in the morning.”
“and, your point is?”
“my point is that i’m not mentally prepared for this now,” which is partially a lie, partially. mornings are for classes and crying over how your days always start with maths lessons. however, having sunghoon by your side is always appreciated, even though he’s annoying.
“you don’t even have to do much,” he rests his head on his palms, shooting you his infamous smirk as a few students around pretend to gawk at this utterly cheap attempt at flirting. “just say yes when i ask you out on a date.”
“why should i?”
and he sits straight on the chair as if he’s about to present the ten slides long presentation about why you both would be a good couple — which it is, to be specific, except there are no slides, just him rambling, hoping to make sense. and you are enjoying it to bits. “don’t you want everyone to be jealous of you and say, ‘oh my god, yn, your boyfriend is so handsome and hot—”
“no.” you interject, a few chuckles emerging from the stray gazes that have been lingering on you ever since you stepped into the campus. “besides, jake is much much handsome-er than you. even his accent is hot.” and you can hear jake snickering in your head, telling you to keep him out of your lovey-dovey business.
“hey, i can mimic his accent too!” he whines with an offended grimace, and every second testing your ability to keep a straight face. “like, let’s gaur on a date,” he says in a cocky tone, shooting you a smirk accompanied with a wink and you take a deep breath, closing your eyes. you’ve seen enough for today.
“yeah, you’re done. now leave, i have to finish this assignment before science class.” you push his arms, beckoning him to leave while shaking your head in disgust. hearing him imitate, or more like satirise, australian accent was the last thing you were expecting today. you look at him through a peripheral gaze, lips curving into a faint smile at the pout on his face as he stands up, rolling his out.
“geez, and i thought the all rounder yn always finished assignments on time,” you shoot him a glare, hoping no one heard his satirical remark because you definitely don’t want your classmates snitch about how science teacher’s favourite student forgot to do her assignments, and if you’re being honest, you’ve been forgetting to do all the assignments lately. “anyway, see you at lunch, sweetheart.”
it’s an endearment you can never get used to. no amount of banters thrown at sunghoon can ever deny the fact that sunghoon calling you sweetheart made you feel unspeakable things. “i’m fasting today,”
you look up, he has already left. a silly smile makes its way to your lips as you get back to your classwork. so, just as always, cut to the base line, the truth is— sunghoon is aware of your feelings towards him, and you’re set on rejecting him until the end of time; or in this case, until the end of finals, which is due in three weeks.

it’s been ten minutes since you entered the canteen and sunghoon is nowhere to be seen. eating alone is something you’ve despised all your life. you can simply join a bunch of students right now and they would welcome you as if you’ve been their friends for eternity, but your eyes are busy looking for the special someone in the multitude. that is, until you feel someone slide in the empty chair next to you.
“thought you ditched me.” you pout and oh god, you never expected yourself to pout in sunghoon's absence.
“you were waiting for me?” there’s amusement in his voice, a dust of pink adorning his cheeks before his lips morph into a smirk. “my my, yn, are you in love with me?” there it is, the usual sunghoon; and he’s lucky you’re in love with him or else it would’ve been his face and your fist.
“ignoring that,” you roll your eyes. “what took you so long?”
“oh, it’s miss kang and her darned projects,” an exasperated sigh escapes his lips as he leans against the chair, closing his eyes for a brief second before resting his gaze on you. “moving on, have you ever thought about dating me? it’s a golden chance, once in a lifetime.” he brings up the same topic again, pretending he hasn’t been pestering you about the ‘ pros of dating park sunghoon’ for one month and ten days, now. ( yes you count. no you will not tell why )
“how are you not tired of him yet?” sunghoon snickers as sunoo’s voice interrupts his ‘moment’. no, sunoo has no reason to eavesdrop on you and sunghoon’s existingly nonexistent love life. the stars are against him and just happened to pass by. besides if you ask him, sunoo would rather do riki’s assignments for a week than offering to hear about what goes on between you and sunghoon.
you shrug, taking a bite from your lunch. “beats me,”
“hey, if she can tolerate you then of course can handle me as well,” you hear sunoo curse under his breath, sunghoon breaking into mocking laughter and gosh, you are not ready for whatever’s coming up.
“yeah, now stop it you two,” you interrupt before letting things take a turn for worse, a frown settling on sunoo’s face and you figured it was because he could’ve come up with an amazing comeback if you didn’t cut in. “sunoo i have some council work to handle so please tell mr han that i wouldn’t be able to attend his class.” you get up from your seat, feeling sunghoon’s disapproving gaze linger on your unfinished lunch.
and student council work is an excuse. the real is to escape sunoo’s and sunghoon’s endless bickering. truthfully, you do have a lot of pending work because of council. somedays, you would sit inside your class, filling papers and checking reports while letting your eyes trace over all the students having fun in their own bubble, all those who don’t have to worry about school funds and organising functions. all those who do not stray further away from mental stability with every passing day, to put it in jungwon’s words.
you greet the fellow council members, taking a seat in the meeting room for the availability of better privacy and avoid people disturbing you every now and then. people as in sunghoon, and sunghoon because as much as you appreciate and adore his presence, you want to get over with the due work before being offered with another stressful bunch.
amidst all the papers and silence, your eyes take notice of the flavoured milk resting on the table corner opposite to you. you hadn’t seen it before, maybe because you were too busy analysing the documents to let your attention wander on anything else. you grab the drink, there’s a post-it note on it, and you smile at the handwriting.
‘learn to take care of yourself <3’

you hear the muffled footsteps of students pacing through the corridor, signifying that the class is over. you check the time, five minutes before the next class starts and if you don’t depart now, you’ll be late. and honestly, you could care less. classes are the least of your concerns right now. your mind has been rather fixating on a certain someone for the past hour. you step out, closing the door before your eyes land upon the said ‘someone’ leaning against the wall with his characteristic smirk. a smile grows on your lips.
“how long have you been waiting?” you ask as sunghoon leads you down the stairs, not caring about the location because wherever it’ll be, it’ll be with him.
“twenty minutes? i was kicked out of class for napping,” as expected from him. besides being amazing at figure skating and nailing extracurricular charts, sunghoon is also good at getting kicked out of the class and detentions. he has a record, quite an impressive one— most number of detentions in november 2021.
he says it’s one of his charms. it may be, not many have the charms of getting detentions once every two to three days. not kicking him out is blatant favouritism, and one might as well add that his charms are hypnotic, for he has every teacher wrapped around him with his honey drizzled words. you agree, you really do. park sunghoon is charming, and a man with charms with a very dangerous thing.
before you realised, you were sneaking towards the school’s terrace, silent footsteps through the hallways to avoid getting caught. however, much to your disappointment, you hear sunghoon’s name echo from a few classrooms behind, making you curse internally. being friends with sunghoon is risky, and skipping classes with him is equivalent to digging your own grave. you feel his hand slide in yours as he pulls you to your right, rushing down the stairs to a much secluded area of the school, finally pulling you inside the art room before shutting the door. trouble follows sunghoon, and this time you’re entangled in its grip as well.
he leans against the walls of the art room— which is currently not in use due to renovation— panting to catch his breath and you can swear, you’ve never seen him look so hot before. “you should date me, yn.”
there it is again. just when you think you should stop with this whole game, giving into your feelings and dating him, sunghoon messes up, straying away from the much awaited opportunity of calling you his lover. “i don’t know why i should date you when i have jake,”
“because dating me is fun.” he replies immediately as if he has been anticipating your statement with an answer residing at the tip of his tongue. “you get a comedian and a model in one.”
and you deadpan. “i do not want a comedian boyfriend.”
he takes a long pause while you try to suppress your laughter. his gaze avoids your sight, fluttering all over the room as he tries to come up with a good reply because hell, he did not just rejected for having god tier humour. actually, sunghoon has believed two things in his life. one, people like humour and second, people like him. and your reply, well, he’s not taking it well. not yet.
but then his eyes perk up, shifting back to you. “i’m hot— literally. my hands are warm unlike yours.” oh, well, he’s not lying. you have terribly cold hands, and you thank god sunghoon is confident enough to stuff your hands inside his pockets, fingers interlaced with yours; and of course you have to pay him back in terms of snacks and your exam notes.
“that’s your reason?” you laugh. who wouldn’t? his awful attempts at flirting are the reasons why jake has saved his number as ‘no bitches,’ with the pleading face emoji. however, if you’d ask sunghoon, he claims he’s single by choice not by fate, and everyone agrees because whatever helps him sleep at night, is all that matters. “thought you’d be better at this, sunghoon.”
“i’m better at many other things though,” something shifts in the air. you look at sunghoon, and his eyes meet yours before landing on your lips, making your heart skip a beat; or actually, a few beats.
the silence is deafening, or maybe it’s not. rather, the silence is dripping with the sexual tension between you, sunghoon and the utter realization that you both are on thin ice, considering you’ve been spotted by a teacher who is probably looking for you like some treasure hidden in the hills.
he takes a small step towards you, tilting his head towards your lips and you let out the fakest laugh possible, wanting to bury yourself six feet under ground because the embarrassment is engulfing you. you look at his face— god, you wish you didn’t. it’s overflowing with confusion, a hint of blush on his cheeks. great, because you did not just cockblock your own crush, who is very much aware of your feelings, by the way.
but you have a reputation to maintain, and the elephant in the room is making it harder for you to formulate your thoughts. so you come up with a question, the best you could’ve done. “how is your project coming out?”
and you wait. an awkward smile on your lips, eyes begging him to say something because the silence is eating you, devouring you— digesting you, even. you scream internally. god speed your love and support towards me.
“i just came up with another reason why you should date me.” now that isn’t something you’d expect from someone who just got cockblocked by his own crush. but again, we’re talking about sunghoon and with sunghoon, anything is possible. besides, you should be glad a conversation is happening after your recent actions.
“what is it?”
“you get to kiss me.” yeah no, he’s unbelievable. there’s a shit eating grin on his face as he inches a little closer and you hate him for making your heart escalate infinitely. “people die to do that, y’know?”
“well, i’m not interested.” you respond, averting your eyes and trying to play it cool.
sunghoon meets your eyes once again. “you’re missing out,”
“i don’t care,”
“you should at l— ,”
“not intereste—”
“is it so hard to tell that i want to kiss you?”
“then do it.” a heavy silence follows with both of you looking at each other with lovestruck gazes. you feel your words echo inside your head, cheeks heating up at your close proximity and before you know it, his lips are on yours while his arms snake around your wait, pulling you closer when you kiss back.
your mind goes blank. he’s kissing you. park sunghoon is kissing you; and you’re kissing back, of course, anyone would. like he said— people die to do that. it’s simple, really— his fingers ghost up your waist, cupping your cheeks, shared breaths twirling between soft gasps for air. and your thought process is just an incoherent chant of ‘we’re going to die if we got caught,’ and ‘at least, i’ll die kissing sunghoon,’— as idiotic as it sounds.
you swear you can hear footsteps approaching and you’re definitely not mistaken. you try to pull away, only for him to tilt your head and deepen the kiss and as fun as it sounds, making out with sunghoon is the last thing teachers want to see you doing after skipping classes together.
you’re done. this time, for real. you count your demerits in your head, one for skipping classes, one for doing scandalous things with him— but then he faintly nibbles on your bottom lip, and you’re gone. your arms circle around his neck, the footsteps are getting louder with every second that passes, your heart racing at an unbelievably high pace.
but then he pulls back, much to your disappointment, leading you inside a very messy closet, if anything. you’re unable to formulate your thoughts. the feeling of his lips lingers on you, keeping you away from thinking reasonably. you hear the door open, a few voices emerging from behind the closet door, and sunghoon pins you against one of the walls inside the closet, lips hovering dangerously close to yours.
“now, let’s keep quiet, yeah?” and then he kisses you again.
synopsis: heeseung is not, by any measure, date-able. he’s dorky, he’s nerdy, and he does this weird thing where he snorts loudly every time he laughs. in fact, he loves everything that normal people are allergic to — computer science, collecting rare comic books, and birdwatching on the weekend.
given that you two have obviously nothing in common, you find yourself utterly flabbergasted when you receive a letter in your locker, on which heeseung has written, "hi. will you please teach me how to date?"

detention.
you had both landed detention.
when you and heeseung had returned to mr lee’s classroom, it was the obvious punishment your teacher had to impose — heeseung’s crime was randomly abandoning class to confess his undying adoration for lia, and your crime was taking way too long to “search” for heeseung.
alas, your teacher was livid the instant you two had attempted to walk through the door.
as per your usual style, you were insistent on lying your way out of the punishment. you wanted to concoct some sort of elaborate (but totally believable) story about why it had taken you so long to bring heeseung back to class.
you had already brainstormed several fibs. “heeseung had broken his arm and was at the nurse’s office the entire time” was the first thing that popped into your mind, until heeseung mentioned that there would be no documentation of him ever being there if nurse kim was asked.
so, you thought you could say that “heeseung dropped and stepped on his glasses and literally couldn’t see his way around the school and had to crawl around like a dog”, but heeseung almost wept at the thought of you having to break his glasses to show real proof.
then, there was the story that “heeseung shat his pants and was too embarrassed to return back to class in fear that people would choke on the smell of his poop”, but heeseung had given you such a dark look that you thought his soul had left his body.
ultimately, heeseung and his dumb ass belief that “honesty is the best policy” triumphed, effectively forcing you to spend your afternoon perishing in detention.
“i told you!” you hiss viciously through gritted teeth, “i told you we should’ve just lied!”
with no intention to conceal your resentment, you glare at heeseung from across the vacant classroom. when his eyes meet your furious scowl, he squeaks in fright before quickly lowering his head to fervently scrub the desks.
tsk.
this annoyingly angelic goody-two-shoes isn’t even going to look at you?
stamping your lips into an unimpressed line, you dunk the mop into the bucket of water before fishing it back out again. ugh. being forced to clean the classrooms after school must be a crime — there’s no way this can’t be considered child labour.
though you’re no stranger to detention (in fact, you’ve been put on behavioural probation numerous times now), something about having to sacrifice a few hours of today’s afternoon is particularly annoying. perhaps it’s because you’re still exhausted from last night’s partying, and scrubbing away the classroom floors during detention is the last thing you want to do.
slapping the wet mop back onto the floor, you huff loudly before proceeding to polish it. five minutes pass as you return darkened stains and greyed flecks to their usual pristine condition, before you hear shuffling from across the room.
you try not to heed heeseung and his noises, until suddenly you feel somebody gently grab your mop.
it’s heeseung.
it’s heeseung that has a fist around the length of your mop, just above where your hands lie.
“what—” you snap your head up, gaping at him while he avoids your gaze.
“i-i’ll do it.” he mutters shyly, seemingly intimidated by your stare.
you straighten your back, narrowing your eyes at him. “what?”
“i-i said i’ll do it.” he repeats in a soft whisper, slowly peeling your fingers off the length of the mop. you watch with utter bewilderment as the boy turns away from you, now mopping the floor in your stead. he makes quiet, careful movements to manoeuvre into the corners of the desk legs, no further complaints to be heard.
“why? was i doing it wrong?” you frown, watching as heeseung does your job for you. he must be some sort of perfectionist, you guess.
“n-no!” he quickly shakes his head, glancing at you briskly. “u-um, you just… you looked… tired.”
oh.
your frown quickly dissipates while you stare at him blankly. he was watching you? he noticed you were tired? something about his close observation of you is somewhat touching, though you stifle down any burgeoning emotions with a clear of the throat.
“thanks.” you tell him awkwardly, rubbing the nape of your neck.
“no, it’s my fault we’re in detention after all.” heeseung mumbles. “s-sorry, i didn’t mean to—”
“stop apologising.” you brusquely interrupt. this must be the umpteenth time that you’ve reminded him of this today, though this apology doesn’t feel quite as infuriating. “i thought i told you to stop doing that.”
“r-right.” heeseung nods once, flashing you a soft, timid smile. “thanks for the reminder.”
you’re frozen, stunned by the sight of another pretty smile of his, allowing it to completely dissolve any last speckle of your annoyance. forcefully brushing away your thoughts, you contort your lips into a contrived frown and watch as heeseung continues to clean the floor for you.
he’s a lot nicer than the people you know, isn’t he?
if you and ryujin had been sent to detention together, she would have slept at the back and forced you to do all the work. and if it had been taehyun, he wouldn’t have even showed up in the first place.
heeseung is far removed from the type of personalities that you’re frequently acquainted with, and truthfully speaking, it’s a little disconcerting. how can somebody be so nice? at times, you wonder if he’s faking his entire persona; until you realise you’re just a bitter pessimist, though you like to think that you’ve encountered far too many dishonest people to not be engineered to think this way.
it’s the circle of life.
“nice people” get chewed up and spat out like gum all the time. it’s nature — in fact, you should totally leave heeseung to clean the rest of the classroom so you can go home and take a nap.
though you try to convince yourself this, guilt begins to sprout inside your chest as you watch heeseung diligently complete your task. technically, it’s not exactly his fault that you’re in detention. since it was his first offence, mr lee was actually willing to let heeseung off with a warning.
it was you and your extensive history for breaking the rules that landed you with a punishment, and it was heeseung that had willingly insisted on doing detention with you so you wouldn’t have to clean the classroom alone.
damn it.
you feel bad.
sighing, you allow the conscience you didn’t even know you had to control your next actions — you shuffle toward heeseung and snatch the mop from him.
damn it. why are you doing this?
surprised by your action, heeseung looks up at you with a rapid blink. you roll your eyes, poking your tongue against the inside of your cheek. “i’ll do it. just clean the tables or something.” you grumble, gently shoving him away with your shoulder.
“i-it’s okay, i can—”
“it’s fine.”
heeseung vehemently shakes his head. “n-no, you’ll hurt your back! i can—”
“i said move, dweeb!”
by the time you and heeseung have finished, the classrooms are so clean that they could be used to perform a surgery. however, you’ve reached an hour so late into the afternoon that the sun has begun to set.
you both stand at the front entrance of your high school, accompanied by the ephemeral blend of a golden sunset adorning the sky. amidst the flush of soft, autumnal hues, you briefly glance over at heeseung, noticing the way he goggles in wonder by the sight. he even rummages through his backpack for his phone to capture a picture of the sky.
what a kid, you think, wondering how many sunsets you’ve seen in your life.
they’re frankly unspecial and common to you, but heeseung seems to appreciate it — and the reverse appears to also be true, given that the sunset illuminates all his best features and kisses his skin with a gentle radiance.
you stare at the gleam along the bridge of his nose and the soft flutter of his eyelashes. when he turns to you and smiles, you notice the way his mousy eyes glow like russet pearls.
“you act like you’ve never seen a sunset in your life,” you comment.
he grins proudly. “they’re just so pretty.” heeseung gushes, turning his phone toward you so you can observe the picture he’s taken. “don’t you think?”
hm. not a bad photo. “yeah, whatever.” you shrug, “they’re aight.”
heeseung pouts at your nonchalant response, admiring his phone’s screen briefly before tucking it away.
“what’s even the point of taking a photo?” you tease him with a lifted brow. “you can literally just wake up tomorrow and see it again. and the day after. and the day after.”
“i like taking pretty photos,” he answers with a soft beam, allowing the excitement to reach his eyes. “to keep them. you never know; one day you might wake up and the sun’s gone… and then it’s like, poof — no more sunsets.”
poof — no more sunsets?
jeez, for a guy so certifiably intelligent, he sounds real fucking dumb.
“tell me you’re a loser without telling me you’re a loser.” you remark sarcastically.
heeseung pouts again, tempting you with the urge to reach over and softly pinch one of his cheeks.
“i’m not a loser,” he whines. “you know, my mom appreciates them. i show them to her all the time.”
mom?
“oh god,” you groan loudly. he obviously doesn’t need birth control or other forms of contraception when his mouth does all the work. “stop speaking. please.”
“what?” he blinks cluelessly, seemingly perplexed by your reaction. “she’s my best friend. we… we play pokemon go and paint each other’s toenails on the weekends together.”
oh. sweet. lord.
“dude, gross!” you throw your head back and project your groan into the sky. “everything about that sentence is gross! and i literally just scraped old gum off taehyun’s desk!”
fuck.
how the hell are you supposed to turn this dorky weirdo into a date-able human being?
he’s not even a real person.
you’re convinced he’s some sort of sick human experiment.
“you know what?” you pinch the bridge of your nose. “i was going to wait until tomorrow, but i honestly think we need all the time we can get.”
in the medical field, triage is the process of categorising patients by level of priority. in this case, heeseung takes the utmost precedence — he’s the patient who needs the most medical attention; the boy who needs the most help. you’re never one to ever be self-sacrificing, but when you triage through your current responsibilities, this boy’s anticipated glow-up is at the top of your list.
it’s honestly painful watching him.
“t-time?” heeseung blinks. “what do you mean?”
“it means i’m coming over to yours.” you turn to him, planting both your hands on his shoulders.
“and i’m going to teach you the first lesson in how to be date-able.”
HOW TO DATE — LESSON 1 : if you look cute, 50% of the things you say don’t sound quite as dumb.
the first glance you take inside heeseung’s closet almost makes you stagger back in shock.
“heeseung,” your eyes bulge out your sockets while your jaw sweeps the carpeted floor. “what the hell is this? how many fucking bowties do you need to own?”
hundreds. there must be hundreds. all you see is a massive basket filled to the brim with them.
this isn’t just a collection — it’s a fucking addiction.
it’s the kind of addiction in which he requires an intervention — asap. he needs a couple of his close friends and family members gathered in the living room, exchanging heartfelt stories about how his obviously debilitating fixation on collecting ugly bowties affects all their lives. he needs his dearest friends to beg him to stop this insane addiction.
“what do you mean?” heeseung shuffles beside you, placing his hands on his hips as he cocks his head to the side. “you don’t like them? i… i think they look pretty good on me.” he tries to beam enthusiastically. he even puts in the effort to reach over and grab a small red bowtie with a white polka-dot pattern, holding it just between his collar bones. “see?” he coyly smiles.
“oh god, i don’t think i’m ever not going to see that.” you gape at the absurd situation. seriously, this is sick. this is so wrong and sick.
that’s when heeseung pouts before grabbing another one — this time, baby pink in colour — and holds it just between your collar bones.
“hey!” heeseung’s eyes twinkle when he smiles. “you look good in one, too!”
“stop it!” you half-whine and half-laugh, groaning as you shake your head. heeseung stifles a giggle before returning both his beloved bowties into his basket. the basket of sins, you’ve decided to call it.
“okay, moving on.” you squint, angling your neck as you attempt to browse what other sins he has stowed in his closet. “let’s say someone asks you out on a date, what’s your go-to outfit?”
“um…” heeseung hums, bashfully rubbing the back of his neck. “i-i don’t know… i’ve never been on a date before.”
“never?” you snap your head at him, gaping. “like, ever?”
“n-never.” he stares back with a small pout. “i-is that weird?”
you blink rapidly. you’ve probably been on the same number of dates as heeseung’s estimated IQ. “of course not,” you quickly reassure him, twirling back toward his closet. “that’s a good thing. we can start from scratch. i’ll give you a few pointers; you know, i’m the best at dates.”
“o-oh… are you really?” you feel his heavy stare as you lean forward and rifle through the various clothing items he has hung up on the clothing rack.
“hell yeah.” you answer, squinting at his clothes. oh god, it’s just an endless number of t-shirts with cartoon characters on them. you make a mental note to take him shopping next time. well, at least he has cute shoes?
“it’s all about first impressions,” you explain. “but to be honest, if you look cute, fifty percent of the things you say don’t sound quite as dumb, which is why i’m looking through your closet.”
“cute?” he mutters, “o-oh, i see. n-no wonder you’re the best…”
“i swear, when it comes to looking cute, boys just need to change their hairstyle and clothes. it’s really as simple as that.” you say, and it’s the truth; some boys really do be rocking up to school with the ugliest haircut you’ve ever seen and you suddenly feel all your initial attraction melt away like snow in the sun.
“r-really?” heeseung squeaks with surprise.
“yeah.” you nod, thinking about this from an analytical standpoint. “you shouldn’t be too worried, though. your face is really cute. you’ve got really pretty eyes and a cute nose. i like your hair, too. so all we really need to do is fix your fashion. by the way, what do you usually wear?”
you wait for his answer, only to find silence on the other end.
huh?
you turn around in confusion, only to see heeseung staring at you with an unexplainable expression. his face is incredibly red, almost like he’s blushing with the entire surface area of his face. your eyes circle in surprise, eyes bouncing between the scarlet shade of his cheeks and the tips of his ears.
subject.
you need to change the subject.
“u-um, this is really cute, by the way.” you say, flustered by heeseung’s reaction. hastily, you yank out one of his hoodies and hold it against your own body.
“i like this,” you plaster a smile on your face, though it quickly dissolves into a more genuine expression as you begin to explain why. “it’s cute. the blue is really nice, and the yellow text really pops, too. hoodies probably aren’t the best choice for a first date, but if you really like the girl, and you’ve hung out with her a few times, i think it’s a really great choice!”
he stares at you for a moment’s passing.
your eyes meet, while silence seeps between the seconds.
why is he staring at you like that?
“h-heeseung?” you blink, feeling the beat of your heart begin to echo in your chest.
“hm?” he absentmindedly mumbles, staring at you.
“uh… what do you think?” you nudge him with the hoodie.
“huh? wha– o-oh...” heeseung appears to snap into focus now, eyeing the hoodie carefully. “um… my mom bought me that. i-i like it... i think.”
you gently smile. “cool! then let’s donate literally everything else to goodwill.”
this is almost like playing real-life sims, but better.
in this case, you’re the omniscient god — you’re the divine-like puppet master that gets to determine what he wears, how he talks, and even what kind of personality he projects.
this experience has been a thrilling, nostalgic adventure back into your childhood. it’s a blast from the past because you’ve been propelled back into your favourite childhood game — dress-up. except this time, your barbie doll is lee heeseung — and truthfully speaking, you’re having way too much fun with this.
the two of you are seated cross-legged on his bed now (no comment on his iron man bed sheets), facing each other. you’ve successfully filtered through his closet and lectured him on the importance of choosing matching or complementary colours when it comes to choosing an outfit.
“okay, next thing — get rid of those glasses.”
heeseung pouts. “but… if i take them off, then i can’t see.”
“good,” you grin sarcastically. “then you won’t be able to see how ugly those glasses are.”
his frown sinks deeper into his face.
you sigh, reaching over and removing the glasses for him. he flinches at your touch, but once you remove the glasses and give him a few seconds to adjust to his new sight, you gasp with delight.
“heeseung, you look so good!” you laugh, reaching over and brushing back his hair to reveal more of his features. he blushes and dips his head in slight embarrassment, but you tuck your fingers beneath his chin and raise his head.
he does.
he really does look good.
it’s not that his glasses are ugly. it’s just that he uses them as an excuse to conceal his best feature — his eyes.
when you had called his eyes pretty earlier, you had really meant it. heeseung’s eyes are unlike anything you’ve ever seen — just when you thought you found cat-like eyes the most attractive, there is something ridiculously enchanting about his round, bambi eyes. they sparkle. they glint like hidden glitter beneath light.
“i-i look stupid.” heeseung lowers his head again and bites his bottom lip. “i-i can’t see.”
“well, i can see and i think you look great.” you scoff, gently whacking his head.
“you’re just being nice.”
“i’m not.” you say adamantly. “haven’t you met me? dude, i’m literally the biggest bitch in the school; i have no reason to be nice. i’m serious, heeseung, you look great. you should try to invest in some contact lenses or something. your eyes are so pretty.”
“y-you think?”
“for sure.”
he pauses. “th-thank you so much,” he mutters, finally succumbing to your compliments. you chuckle at his reaction, handing his glasses back.
“anyway, it’s getting late.” you sigh, glancing at your phone. “i should probably go home soon.”
heeseung slips his glasses back onto his face with ease, brushing his hair back so that they cascade down his forehead. “a-ah, i’ll drive you home!”
“it’s okay,” you shake your head. “taehyun’s picking me up.”
heeseung’s eyes widen slightly in realisation before he casts his gaze to the side.
“oh.” his shoulders slump. “right. taehyun.”
.
.
.
taehyun announces his arrival with a simple text message: ‘come out’, you read on your screen, before tucking it away inside your pocket.
“he’s here,” you bounce off heeseung’s couch, lifting yourself to your feet as you stretch your body.
“ah,” heeseung follows suit, shutting off the game console. “i’ll walk you to the door.”
you stifle a laugh, wondering what the need was for him to accompany you with just a few steps. however, you’ve surprisingly enjoyed his company a lot — taehyun had expectedly arrived much later than he’d promised, allowing heeseung to show you how to play super smash bros on the nintendo switch.
you’ve never really been the type to care much about video games, and yet heeseung had been incredibly patient in teaching you. he’s too nice for his own good, which you know because he was obviously pretending to fumble at a game you know he’s obviously very experienced in, and even let you win most games.
“hey, thanks for having me over,” you smile, slipping your handbag through your arm while your feet sink into your shoes. “maybe next time, i’ll get to meet your best friend.”
heeseung slowly bats his eyelashes in another confused expression.
“your mom?” you scoff with a short laugh, earning an instant smile from the boy.
“o-of course.” he cutely grins, “i bet she’d like you.”
“probably not,” you fasten your shoes around the back of your heels. “i’m not very parent-friendly.” you don’t think you can clearly recall the last time you had met a friend’s parents — other than taehyun and ryujin, you don’t often go to other people’s houses; you very much prefer existing in your own space.
“d-do you want me to walk you to the car?”
“nah, it’s okay.” you wink at him. “taehyun’ll probably flip shit if he finds out my friend”—you do little air-bunnies with your fingers—“is actually you.”
you’re not exactly dating taehyun (yuck, god forbid you’re ever tied down to another person), but you know the guy too well to not anticipate every toxic behaviour he has under his belt. you? hang out with another guy? taehyun would rage. it’s not really that you’re attempting to tiptoe around the guy — he just didn’t ask who you were hanging out with, so you didn’t really care to tell him.
heeseung’s eyes flicker toward the ground. “i-i see.” his head bobs gently. “well… safe trip home.”
while you’re ready to leave, you notice your hand merely hovers over his door knob. sensing your own hesitation, you turn around and glance at heeseung.
“i feel like i’m missing something.” you tell him, squinting.
“nope.” heeseung shakes his head furiously. “i made sure all your belongings were put back into your handbag.”
you stifle a laugh. “gee, thanks.”
“b-by the way…” heeseung awkwardly rubs the back of his neck. “um… y-you didn’t tell anybody about the letter, right?”
of course, the letter — the very reason you’re here in the first place. the one heeseung had written to you in a desperate plight to get a girl. to get ryujin. oh god, the thought of heeseung and ryujin makes you want to shudder.
“no, why?”
he flashes you a relieved smile. “i-i don’t know, i just thought… nevermind.”
“what is it?” you frown, facing him completely. “just tell me.”
“i just… thought maybe you and your friends would make fun of me for it. taehyun… doesn’t seem to really like me. i-it’s okay if you don’t want to help if you’re… embarrassed.”
that’s when your smile falters.
embarrassed?
why would you be embarrassed?
‘nah, it’s okay.’ you wink at him. ‘taehyun’ll probably flip shit if he finds out my friend’—you do little air-bunnies with your fingers—‘is actually you.’
“oh my god,” you quickly shake your head, recalling your earlier words. “heeseung, i didn’t mean you as in you,” you say, horrified by the implication, “i just meant like, since you’re a guy and all. he just gets jealous easily. don’t worry about it, heeseung. you’re not embarrassing; i’m not embarrassed. i had fun today. i really did.”
“you did?” heeseung’s face lights up. “so did i!”
“cool,” you say. “then we’re on the same page. see you at school, yeah?”
he blushes. “y-yeah, see you at school.”
if there’s any method through which students at your school like to segregate by social hierarchy, it’s the seating in the dining hall. you’re obviously at the cool table, though really that means you’re surrounded by a bunch of pricks. most of them, like taehyun, belong to the school’s athletic teams. you’re the exception, though, because you don’t really indulge in any extracurriculars.
“dude, lunch today tastes like literal ass.” jongseong groans, ungratefully stabbing his fork into his food.
“oh yeah, you’d know exactly what ass tastes like, wouldn’t you?” yeonjun snickers, earning him a quick smack from the former.
“shut the fuck up and get a girlfriend.” jongseong sneers. “the only ass you’re getting is what you see in your reflection.”
“weak comeback, dude. try again.” yeonjun snorts, though jongseong retorts by tossing various colourful insults in the air.
amidst the bickering between the two, you feel a slight nudge against your arm. toward your right, you face ryujin, who innocently bats her eyelashes at you.
“eat my veggies, please.” she smiles, shoving her food tray toward you. you scowl at her request, lifting your palm in a threat to hit her.
“get lost.”
she pouts. “but… you’re my trash can. you’re supposed to eat what i can’t finish.”
scoffing, you prop your elbow on the table and allow your cheek to sink into your palm. “bro, you’re giving me a headache, shut the hell up.”
“jeez, what’s with you? are you tired or something?”
“leave me alone.”
“oh, right.” ryujin straightens in her seat, eagerly clutching onto your arm. “are you mad at me ‘cause i ditched you yesterday? you had detention! what was i supposed to do? wait for you?”
she’s so loud. ryujin is just so damn loud.
“speaking of, how was detention? did that four-eyed dweeb try to talk to you or something?”
your lips instantly sink into a frown at her mention of heeseung.
“wait, what? you had detention yesterday?” taehyun kicks your leg from under the table. he’s seated right across from you, so you snap your head up and glare at him.
“yeah, she did.” ryujin snorts, humoured by what she considers an ill situation. “but worse, she had it with the headmaster's little minion. you know, lee heeseung.”
“oh, heeseung?" taehyun snickers, causing your fists to ball up beside you. “that dude? bro, i swear that guy is a new breed of human. probably virgin as fuck.”
heeseung was right.
he was so fucking right.
‘i just thought maybe you and your friends would make fun of me for it.’
maybe he knows your friends better than you do.
taehyun and ryujin’s comments only begin to pile, while input from the entire table begins to flood in.
“wait, who even is that?”
“i don’t know. some irrelevant dude, i guess.”
your nails pierce the skin of your palms.
“wait, heeseung? lee heeseung? bro, that guy literally does all my homework.”
“oh god, poor him.”
“are you kidding me? guys like that are so good. you can literally just push them around and make them do whatever you want—”
“shut the fuck up!” you snap, suddenly rising to your feet. your friends jump in surprise, though you quickly snatch your handbag and scoff at them before storming off. “you guys are a bunch of loud-mouthed morons. fucking losers.”
.
.
.
exactly twenty-four hours ago, you and heeseung had been standing at the school’s entrance, basking in the warmth of the afternoon sunset. you had truthfully been admiring heeseung’s rather pretty features, while he had been staring at something he also considered pretty.
and now here you are — home, lying on your bed, in which the only sunset you have is the ceiling light you’re staring up at.
heeseung’s words echo in your mind.
you didn’t tell anybody about the letter, right?
you didn’t.
but perhaps you should mention that ryujin knows about it.
upon recalling everything your friends had spoken about heeseung, you find your lips sink into a frown. guilt pricks your heart torturously, even though you know you hadn’t participated in their bullying. you’ve never loved your friends, but something about identifying yourself with them knowing how horrible they are feels equally as terrible.
like some sort of divine timing, you feel a buzz in your pocket. you quickly fish your phone out of your skirt’s pocket before realising it’s a text from heeseung.
an image.
he’s sent you an image.
it’s a picture of today’s sunset.
‘so pretty and warm, right?’ he writes. ‘kinda reminded me of you.’
pretty.
warm.
reminded him of you.
you feel your lips twitch into a smile.
it’s ironic, because most people seem to think you’re quite a cold person. most people don’t compare you to the warmth of an afternoon sunset; most people don’t walk you to the door even if it’s just a few footsteps; most people don’t pretend to lose at video games just to make you happy.
yet here heeseung is, showing you that he is a lot nicer than most people you know.
see?
50% of the things he says don’t sound quite as dumb anymore.
it’s working.
‘thanks.’ you text back. ‘by the way...’
you think of what your friends had said about him.
you know what? fuck them.
fuck.
them.
‘i'm going to show you how to date. for real. you can get any girl you want and all the guys are going to fucking hate you.’
you watch as the text bubble from heeseung begins to appear.
and then it disappears.
and then another text appears.
‘okay, miss sunset! ^_^’
you smile.
how.
fucking.
precious.

[8:27AM] “what do you mean you didn’t plan anything for valentines- i woke up early because i thought we’d have plans.” bestfriend donghyuck whined through the phone.
“why would we be doing something for valentines? we’re not even dating.” you mumbled, tiredness heavy in your voice.
“but we’re cute!”
“hyuck-“
“shut up. we’re not friends after this, i mean- you still haven’t even invited me over to kiss with some mistletoe above our heads or anything.”
you groaned loudly at his teasing voice. “go back to sleep you weirdo!”

[TXT] Imagine Soobin running to check the mailbox on valentine's day and being relieved that you do have some actual letters in there so that he can slip his confession in between the other envelopes and then he hands them to you, saying "you've got mail" as he nervously waits for your reaction to his love letter
“wait, do that again,” you beckon mark, biting back a chuckle.
mark looks at you quizzically but nevertheless, takes up your request. with a deep inhale, he brings up both his hands like two lion paws and scrunches his nose to let out a supposedly menacing roar, showing off his fake fangs. “arrrrr!”
“ah, you’re so cute!” you squeal and tackle him onto the couch, peppering soft kisses all over his face.
mark falls back onto a pile of cushions and laughs, “baby, stop! stop! i can’t breathe!”
you look up at him, defiant. “no.”
“no?” mark leans forward and pretends to snarl. “i’ll bite you.”
the bravado that fuels your defiance drops at the sight of his fangs and your lips contort into a pout. mark coos at your expression and opens his arms. “c’mere, baby.”
you happily oblige and snuggle up to his chest, placing one last kiss on his neck; cold and feathery like october’s wind. on the tv, corpse bride plays in a volume barely above a whisper. below it, the fireplace burns with calm, letting slip a soft crackle every once in a while. mark holds you tight in his arms and closes his eyes, relishing in your warmth.
he’s still a bit dazed by what just happened. but if putting on fake fangs and roaring at you could make you this ecstatic, he wouldn’t mind playing vampire for the rest of his life. appearance-wise, of course. ain’t no way he’s giving up soy garlic fried chicken.
Mark's ! face lit up with excitement. Taeyong bought him a watermelon!
Mark looked around as he held his prized possession, the coast was clear. There was no one in the kitchen as far as he knew. Holding the fruit up to his face, he gave it a big fat smooch before smiling at it like it was his girlfriend.
Little did he know, Johnny and Jaehyun were right there.

he takes care of you when you’re too tired to, wiping your makeup off of your face with clumsy hands or tending to any scrapes or papercuts you have as though they were life-threatening wounds - you’re his favourite girl and he intends on keeping you in tip-top shape
collects belongings he knows you’re about to throw out - mundane things like movie tickets and keychains - so that he can keep them up in the attic and toy with them when he’s bored, giggling away at the idea of you having touched the objects before he got his hands on them
constantly calls you petnames - pretty girl, honey, princess, hongjoong's girl - to the point of almost forgetting your real name
for better or for worse, he never lets anyone get away with hurting or upsetting you, regardless of whether it’s one of your housemates, a professor or a creep at a party, ensuring that they end up in a state much worse than the one they put you in
smothers you with physical affection, constantly attaching himself to you like a koala and poking at every part of you he can reach, including but not limited to your face, ass and stomach
he lets you know when he’s jealous, grumbling away about the people who he’s certain are trying to steal you away from him (he’s also certain that they must be as in love with you as he is, because why wouldn’t they be?) and waiting impatiently for you to reassure him that nobody’s stealing you any time soon
you most likely won’t ever get to hear him say it out loud unless he blurts it out by mistake in the middle of a sentence, which will only make him abandon the conversation entirely, flustered by his own feelings for you
