Happy 48th Birthday Anthony ‘Tony” Stark! 

I’m getting mad, so here’s something I’ve realized while reading The Order of the Phoenix again. (Please keep in mind that my books are in Italian and some concepts might be hard to explain, I apologize for my English mistakes)

In chapter 14, when The Trio talked with Sirius, he said that two years before Dolores Umbridge had written a law against werewolves that made it almost impossible for Lupin to find a job.

Now ask yourself this question. Why two years?

What had happened two years before? During Harry’s third year? Oh, right. The Magical World had discovered that one of Hogwarts’ teachers (someone who was in constant conctat with their children) was a werewolf. Does that ring any bell?

But that’s not all! If we take a look at chapter 15, in the Daily Prophet article we can see a familiar name: Remus Lupin. In a newspaper. Where everyone can read it. “The werewolf Remus Lupin”. No wonder he couldn’t find a job! And it’s not the first time the Daily Prophet has written about him, as it’s stated in the article itself. There must have been a huge scandal when it had all come out.

So basically, when Snape decided he couldn’t bear not having what he wanted (for example, SIRIUS BLACK GETTING KISSED BY A DEMENTOR) and spilled the secret, he didn’t only tell the whole school. He didn’t only tell the kids’ parents. The told the whole Magical World.

He told the whole Magical World that a man who had kept his condition secret all his life was a werewolf.

And the Magical World responded with a law against werewolves.

So, basically, Snape didn’t only ruin Remus Lupin’s life. He ruined the life of every single werewolf in the UK.

1. Remus was still part of the group of boys the bullied Snape when he was younger. Honestly if you think about it, it's messed up that he wouldn't speak up more against it BECAUSE of what he is. You would at least think he wouldn't let his morals bend for James and Sirius but he does and saying nothing is just as bad as actually bullying. Snape doesn't have any fond memories of Hogwarts besides the ones that had Lily in them especially because of them.

2. When Snape, in their Hogwarts years, first found out that Lupin was a werewolf it was when he almost got murdered by said werewolf. Due to Sirius telling him to follow Lupin down the passages under Whomping Willow, as a badly placed practical joke, he was only saved by James who had realized what Snape would see when he got to the Shrieking Shack. I dunno about you guys but encountering a fully transformed werewolf because of a practical joke would traumatize anyone.

3. Everyone except for the younger generation already knew that Lupin was a werewolf. (Please refer to the interview JKR did in 2007 in Cargnegie Hall) if anything Snape just put it back into the limelight. I'm still not saying what he did wasn’t wrong but again not really new information. 

4. As someone who grew up in the Wizarding World you are taught to fear werewolves especially because of werewolves like Greyback. Although back then we dn’t know much about it but you can be there are people that are Anti-Creature which is why people like Hagrid were also persecuted for being different. Take into the fact that all the adults went through the war with Voldemort where he had the support of werewolves and other creatures and well its already a cocktail of fear from the Wizarding World. I mean they only really got peace 13 years ago at that point.

5. Snape LOVES Lily. At this point in time he still thinks Sirius is the one who killed Lily indirectly and he thought that Lupin was helping Sirius. For someone that is still mourning her loss as basically the only light in his life Lupin is not in his good books.
