Ed can tell something is about to happen, but he’s not sure what— until he feels Roy dipping him back. The surprise of it drives the rest of the breath from his body, and he thanks his lucky stars for years of combat training that allow him to distribute his weight instinctively instead of stumbling and falling to the floor.

Roy can practically see the stars in his eyes as he pulls Ed upwards and towards him again.
