You have to kill your disgust response now.
To use the most inflammatory example. If your issue with child sexual abuse is that it “feels gross” you will end up linking harmless things to csa and ignoring deeply harmful things that aren’t usually considered csa but absolutely are. If you don’t understand how the sexualization of children works and simply base your entire understanding of what feels “icky” you end up looking past dress coding, the slut shaming of grade school children, children being forced to make unwanted contact with adult (forced hugging cuddling etc) and the refusal to teach children how to recognize and avoid predation and instead get up in arms about cartoons.
To add to this a little bit. Media which sexualizes children is politically reactionary in the same way that media that fetishizes any other minority group is. However there has to be a pretty definitive line drawn in the sand between media which sexualizes children and actual csam because the conflation of the two is deeply harmful. Media which is reactionary and bigoted and continues the sexualization of children is bad, but it’s not child abuse and conflating the two is like saying a scene from a tv show that portrays rape in a misogynistic way is just as bad and immediately harmful as actual rape.
