I think what's technically more tragic about Soul's sacrifice during the church is...while there's a possibility Maka could just die outright, literally split into two if she she had been the one taken blade (Soul jumping mid-transformation might have made him a little more sturdy than the 100% human Maka, hence he only got cut open) had Maka survived and the one got infected instead it was kinda implied her body would just purge the infection automatically thanks to her anti-demon wavelength, so she would never suffer its more adverse effects like Soul did.
On one hand, Maka surviving the blade would mean nobody would suffer long term, but they won't be able to use the black blood as battle aid as a result. While Soul taking the blade means he has to be the one who suffered long term, but they'd be able to use the black blood at the very least (while actively risking turning into a kishin for Soul) as the high-risk, high-reward power
So people like to create demon-angel imagery around Crona and Maka but I feel it didn't hit as deep (basically it's just Crona is the kid who is forced to do evil, and Maka is the good girl who saved them. How generic) as to whenever people create angel-demon imagery with Maka and Soul since when it's applied to SoMa their imageries ended up being ironic and by that alone you already brought out their multifacetedness (the angel actually suffers from being dutiful and perfect to the world because of her human flaws, the demon is desperately trying to anchor himself to the best of his humanity so he doesn't succumb to his worst flaws. She gave him a reason to be better, he gave her the permission to be imperfect)
As foils Crona has no support system, while Maka virtually has a perfect one. There's the usual 'Maka eventually chose to use her support system, while Crona kept rejecting the hands offered to them' but like...still pretty generic victim x savior dynamic in the end since it's still about Maka acting as an 'angelic' figure to save Crona while Crona's job was just to fall for Maka to catch them...
Unless again...people are actually willing to portray croma as a deconstruction of the 'Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl' trope (though SoMa technically already does that) the Angel Girl eventually got fed up and found out how taxing it is to keep up the perfect act, while the Demon Kid realized they needed to start learning how to stand on their own two feet.

Got 20 votes and that’s the minimum I was looking for so eh join if you wanna
Anyone know what the significance of the 51 is? The numbers 42 and 564 are an ongoing pun but I don't think 51 was ever something that was explained. Anyone got any ideas?
I don't think this is what exactly Ohkubo intended (since we don't know, he might have just picked number 51 because he felt like it. Or it's another corny reference to Area 51 in Nevada) just my personal favorite headcanon on what 51 meant. So in goroawase 51 can be read as itsu-hito, resembling itsumo hito (いつも人) meaning 'Always Human' or 'Forever Human' kinda like how Soul's arc is partly about keeping his humanity in the face of the black blood corruption.
Hi everyone,
The Soul Eater Family Week is coming up in a month. I’m really excited to see what you’ll create this time.
Year 4: Part 1!
I have done a lot of editing on this sucker because, well....... I am a very cruel mistress. I've also upped the rating because this chapter has sexual content. Obviously, the aim is for welcome home smut at the end anyway so shrugs.
Read it on AO3 and flame me :)
[I swear, just read the whole chapter. Trust me.]

Ngl since I've sorta solidified my overall essay around SE (including finally finding an appropriate angle on how to read Maka that I feel is very palatable to the masses while acknowledging her full humanity while also enhancing other characters rather than heavily dismissing them like before...forever grateful to that one panel showing how tired Maka was to participate on the moon fight lol) I'm no longer anxious if a reboot drops anytime soon since I finally know what I'm gonna say once the usual fandom character butcherings happens.
But yea, gotta do something with the fandom overglorifying the final Crona chase since...there are clearly other characters who are more proactive in not wanting Crona to be executed outright...and even Maka wavered at some point on that front, showing how she's not that 'obsessed' in their wellbeing, just dutiful and doing what others want her to do.
Maka, when Medusa betrayed her, probably:
Pffft...
The anxious always thinking they're important. The avoidant always thinking they are never important...
Took me this long to figure out that Soul's unique ability after gaining Arachne's web powers is being a transmitter and maybe amplifier. When combined with Maka's soul perception he can broadcast any wavelengths (can be Maka's ADW, Kim's healing wavelength, his own madness wavelength etc) into areas as far as Maka can perceive enabling mass exorcism/healing/psychosis/what have you. But he seemed to also act as an augmenter since during that scene where they were trying to search for Crona around the world Maka needed Soul to push her soul perception to be able to see even further. So Maka's perception and anything got a boost through Soul's augmenter ability, which in turn helps in widening the areas that his transmitter ability could reach even more...
Makes me think of a fic prompt: Soul and Maka went stargazing and decided to see if Maka can use her Soul Perception like a telescope especially with it being boosted by Soul's amplification powers. It ended up being scarily effective that they decided to pull a little prank on the space station crew by sending a small "Hey howdy! We hope you have a great day in the space station! -- From two people on the surface of the earth" using Soul's transmitter power to send a voice message directly into a crew's head. And then they kept experimenting the next few days, and soon enough they practically become another James Webb Space Telescope...or even better, not only able to see even the earth-like planets they've found so far lightyears away, but they can technically check wether there's any living organisms or even intelligence life there...
Wanna create SoMaStar text posts since I just found a lot of SoMaCro ones and they're so boring since the trio kept stagnating at Maka and Soul just being Crona's babysitter or for some reason treating Soul like a dumb dog needing discipline
I think by this point I'll side eye anyone who thinks Maka's greatest virtue has something to do with extraordinary benevolence or selflessness or anything like that. Cuz not really, she's amiccable when she needs to be, but can be pretty bitchy in certain situations. The fact that she sorta has an arc about learning to compromise with others and her squabbles with Soul are often about her being stubbornly selfish is proof that she isn't entirely selfless either. Maka's biggest strength as a character where it even inspires and keeps benefiting other characters is her perseverrance and locking into any immediate given task and seeing it through even with the knowledge of her own weaknesses.

Yes, Maka has a strong sense of duty as like...a DWMA agent. But she can be a hypocrite when it comes to her certain relations, she won't keep pushing certain people away technically trying to help her in her best interests otherwise. Even then, her dutiful nature doesn't always yield good results (there are times where she clearly resented it for example like her burnout era) or exactly unwavering as to save her in situations (e.g she ended up needing Soul to remind her of their current objective to talk some sense into Crona when her fed up with betrayal self took over)
It's not that Maka has no solid development, her writing just has issues with double standards because her flaws was used as a gag she never was quite allowed to grow out of at times, missing some active participations in certain themes to truly be the 'MC', and due to the story never really giving her a chance to really be seriously wrong as to reflect deeply with herself she doesn't seem to really gain more maturity in the end the way the boys are, she's just more 'authentically' herself compared to the others (because the only good development she got was her dev about overcoming her attachment issues) Eventhough I said stabilizing the pendulum seemed to be where her arc ended in my prev post, the lack of addressing around Crona's arc and their victims, the ill-timed gag in Russia, and Maka being used as a last-minute attempt to assure the audience that 'Hey dw about Crona, we're still thinking about them' at the end instead of addressing the structural flaws that led to the Crona problem kinda kills the consistency of her character growth.
